Finally John mentioned in broad terms some future projects they are investigating.  Suffice it to say, these guys are very, very creative,  Looks like the next couple of years will see no letup in Round 2's business model and as a result, we as builders appear to have much to look forward to.

I heard some (semi) specifics regarding a particular mid-'60s MPC body which still exists, and possibly pairing that body with another company's modern Super Stock underpinnings...things could be very interesting in the next year or two. ^_^

So what you are saying is I won't have to pay stupid prices to find an original kit of a car that recently appeared on the cover of a magazine we all know?

Casey...I personally haven't heard anything to the effect of what I think you are hinting at here, but it certainly sounds like an interesting project if it would be possible to pull off.  Cheers...TIM

Doesn't sound remotely close to anything I've heard.....I have my doubts.

I'm really hoping for the step-side version of the 84 GMC, but i"ll take whichever one I can get. I really want a 1/25 GMC grille to put with the SnapFast Blazer so I can have the one from Jaws 2.

To have a mid-70's GMC grille, you would need to make your own as the one from the '84 GMC pickup is totally different and nowhere near close. You would be better off starting with the Chevy grille from that kit and re-working it to a GMC.

I saw on the Tower Hobbies website that the '84 GMC pickup kits (yes, two!) are listed as late February releases. It was interesting to see one listed as white and one as black.

Looking at Tower Hobbies, the '65 Grand Prix is going to in two versions also, white and aqua..listed as the 'Grand Slam'...IIRC, that is box art for the GP from the mid 70s.

They also list a '57 Chevy Bel Air--don't know if it's the old tool or modern tool one, two color choices listed as having a 'Cindy Lewis diorama' (who is Cindy Lewis?).

They list two versions of the '29 Ford Model A also, one in the Original Art Series and one regular

And it looks like the '70 Pontiac Bonneville is going to be the convertible w/ pickup option again like the Model King version..

That tells me that maybe it won't be branded as a Fall Guy kit, but just a stock model. Hopefully Round 2 gets rid of the engraved storage box lines on the bed that come from the Fall Guy truck.

Would be neat if they offered one of them with the stepside bed that was in the Hardcastle & McCormick version..

I have the Model King '70 Bonnie/boat kit, so a reissue of the Poncho would only be interesting for me, if it were the Hardtop.

Why no 61 - 69 Lincoln hardtop?
Why no promo tool reissues of the Jr Trophy/Craftsman/Flower Power series?

Is it really that difficult?

Beetle Bus Show Rod, for God's sake. I'm not eight years old anymore. What a bloody waste of styrene.

I'd love to see those, but presumably the tooling is long gone.

I think all that survives of those is the '65 convertible. Missing Link offered a sedan conversion for it but the gentleman from ML told me at the DuPage show that it didn't sell well.

You think they may have meant Cindy Williams?  American Graffiti, Laverne and Shirley or Happy Days related?

I agree on the storage box lines, get rid of them. I also hope they provide the right bumper/grille combination(preferably the fall guy grille).

I wonder if Round-2 will be pushing to get 1 or both of those big Poncho reissues into the retail stores before the newly-tooled Moebius '61 Pontiac Ventura lands on the store shelves!

I wonder why the AMT '64 Bonneville and Grand Prix kits have never been reissued.

If that tooling still exists, somebody better give me a ahead warning so I can sell of my originals

;^)

I will pay extra for the kit if they get rid of those

BECAUSE there is still a group of us that are willing to pay cash for it. Enough to make a profit R2 thinks. And judging by the price they have sold for on ebay some are willing to pay a LOT for them. Sunday a ZZR went for almost $300 and a Cashbox more.....both  'stupid' showrods.

If you don't want to buy a kit.......just pass it by. Negativity we have more than enough of that in the world outside this forum.  I seek out the vast majority of positive folks here. thx

Round2 seems to be doing just fine releasing a wacky show rod or two per year, and if one can't understand the need for product diversity, well...

Why no promo tool reissues of the Jr Trophy

Oh, the irony.

I know it would be under Lindberg, but it sure would be nice to get the Lawman Plymouth we were promised 2 or 3 years ago. Or were we just plain lied to ?

Joseph....as Casey also replied to you, I don;t think your timeline is correct here.  The Lawman kit was originally proposed by and developed (with an example model build) by Bill Coulter, over a decade ago (memory says around 1999 or so, but I could be off by a few years).  Lindberg wanted to do the kit, but found out that they could not share the SuperStock parts from the '64 Dodge Super Stock kits, so the Lawman parts would have to be freshly tooled.  The company was sold shortly thereafter, and the project died.

Just several years ago Round 2 acquired the rights to the Lindberg product line, as as they began to develop the product range, the Lawman project resurfaced,  I don't recall when it was announced, but memory says it was more like two years ago (updated from earlier post - someone with proof, please step in here with more accurate info if you have it) rather than 3 as you suggest above.

Having said that, John G has asked that I pass along the following regarding the intro timing of the Lawman kit:

"The kit IS scheduled for 2016 release and should be in modelers' hands sometime in June if not sooner. Required parts are being newly tooled currently to improve the kit over the original mockup that has been shown. A new retro box illustration has been completed and it's only a matter of time."

Like you, I'm very anxiously awaiting this kit.  In fact, I;ve been waiting for it ever since Bill did the first proposal 15+ years ago.  The reality is that Round 2 has many projects underway, including even more now that they've gained control of the Lindberg product range.  Some come together quickly (even quicker than expected), others require more time than originally projected to get the job done.  Round 2 is really working to improve the quality of their product, and the changes they are making here apparently fall in line with that strategy.

Bottom line, patience, patience, please.  Apparently it won't be long now.

Casey and Joseph...see below.....looks like it was first announced about two years ago, if the earlier comments in the thread you have linked are accurate....also see the update from Brett suggesting mid 2015 as a target date.  Sometimes good things just take more time!   Cheers...TIM :

At I-Hobby 2013 in Chicago, at the Round 2 booth there was a built-up of The Lawman kit with a release date of June 2014 ( maybe July '14?).

I asked Round2 a few weeks ago, they said it's still on, just bumped to 2015. They said that this announcement had been a little ambitious based on what they had been told before the sale and once they actually took over the Lindberg line they've reassessed the timeframe.
