Motor City Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 I stopped at the local Walgreens Pharmacy a couple of days ago to pick up something else and bought the only model car they had. It's a 1/24th scale black Viper coupe by Maisto. As with most, it's unfortunately made in China. The price was $10.00.

Yah, most if not all diecasts are made in China now. At least any you can afford.
HomerS Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Only wanted the Toronado, but the DeSoto was too nice to pass up! I caved on the Viper. I resisted but I think I have virtually all the other 1/18 releases and the teenager talked me into it
slusher Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 I would like to see the Tornado and the store, they look really good..
Zen Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Picked up the new Bronco & another 2020 Shelby GT500 from Sams club yesterday.
HomerS Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 The Kaiser came from a local die cast toy show. 1/18.....only missing the passenger side mirror The Range Rover is a 1/24 from Rite Aid....once I got through the transaction with the snotty cashier
Sam I Am Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 (edited) I have not been active in this part of the forum for awhile, my apologies. My daughter-in-law came to visit tonight and she brought me these. I immediately put them in a display case. Two of them are Franklin Mint. I will leave you to guess which ones. No rot, and in pristine condition. Her grandfather gave them to her and her brothers but they had no interest, but they thought of me. I can do what I want with them. Have not decided if I will keep them or not. The mint ones are absolutely stunning. Edited August 16, 2021 by Sam I Am
Gramps46 Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 It was very thoughtful of your daughter-in-law to pass them on to you, some one who can appreciate them. My guess is the Jaguar SS and the horseless carriage are the Franklin Mint models. I like the Dalmatian on the fire engine.

They are pretty easy to sell if you can find dirty ones to clean up for cheap. And they are a good looking model to hold onto. Jag is nice model as well, just not my thing. I've flipped one before. Not a lotta value to them unless you have all the stuffings.

I do prefer plastic though, and have permission to do with them what I want...so they might get turned into something I can build. I also love the motorcycle models. Best of the tamiya kits in my opinion.
Sam I Am Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Just checked, the 1903 Ford is a Franklin mint as well. Seems to be the more valuable of the bunch. Too bad it is missing that one curved brass part.
Gramps46 Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 This Franklin Mint 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe came in the mail today. I In 1962 a high school classmate gave me a ride in his '40 coupe. I have been kind of fond with the '40s ever since.
Gramps46 Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 Oops!! Make that a Danbury Mint 1940 Coupe Deluxe.
THarrison351 Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Gramps, got one of those 40s recently too. Its a good looking car except those dang dog leg hinges. Used it to cannibalize a few parts for my 40 convertible. Haven't decided what I'm going to do with the rest. I have a Danbury mint purple and yellow flamed 40 hot rod, might do a body swap.
89AKurt Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Think is my first post here. Mercedes Benz C-111, made in Spain. Paid way more than it's worth, but it's nice to have one on the shelf. Thought I would use as reference for a project that I have in mind, it makes that plastic kit look even more horrible.
keyser Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Killer Kurt. A favorite car, never popped that model. Nice hit. ??

cobraman Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Got this little Hot Wheels Cobra . Pretty nice . They are calling these Super Treasure Hunts . I don’t know about that . Got it loose for much less than the carded ones I found .
keyser Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 STH basically more realistic tires and wheels, unique paint, more detail painting. “Limited production” whatever that means. 2 bajillion rather than 8 bajillion. Cool dc.
Rob Hall Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 I like the 80s versions of that Cobra w/ the Real Riders rubber tires and metal bottom. I have a blue & white one and a red one w/ yellow stripes.
