There are other forums? ?

I remember being on the SA one for a bit. Was a ghost town. Maybe it's different now, but I can't be bothered to check. I'm happy here. :)

Me too. Checked it out a couple weeks ago and nowhere near the traffic they had 6 or 8 years ago.

It hasn't changed much.

Lots of crickets and tumble weeds. :P

Dittos!  Hadn’t been in there in a long, long time.  Checked in a couple of times during the past month but found it desolate -  very little traffic or meaningful content. Really downhill since that one particular editor. ?

"I just love editing!" said that editor.

I like the way this one is organized much better.   I can see EVERY car model that interests me, whether finshed or in stages without having to guess which subforum it is parked in.  I hope the new folks there can continue the magazine in a good manner, but I would gladly drop it in favor of MCM if MCM gets back to a regular schedule.   I NEEED that paper copy every other month.  Still old skool in that.  Buththis seems to be the more popular forum.  And I know everyone's name on here that contributes regularly.

I think many of us would agree that this forum has more traffic and meaningful information than the SA forum. Sadly, as Danno pointed out, a previous editor/moderator of the SA forum did a lot of harm and drove away many good people there with his management style. Rules are a little bit looser here (unless you point out the lack of a magazine) and for the most part it tends to be a place where ideas, tips and information about the hobby are shared openly.

As far as a magazine, Gregg has his work cut out for himself to get MCM back on a regular schedule. It's been discussed at length so I won't bring up the history but will say that  as much as some people want a hard copy to hold in their hands, Gregg has a better chance of success if he goes the digital route.

I can get Scale Auto and Fine Scale Modeler regularly off the shelf here in the uk. The SA forum has less traffic than this one, granted, but I tend to browse both in any case. They have new editorship from what I can gather. New ideas and outlook and their moderators seem to be a bit more relaxed than before.

I noticed what Noel said in the last few I've read, I stopped going on their and buying the magazine after the editor they had at the time lambasted somebody (a young builder too, IIRC) for taking the Revell Civic Si kit and made it RWD with the A-833 and 8 3/4" from a B-Body kit.

I haven't been on there since someone got annoyed at my using british spelling, so for my next post I linked every word to the oxford english dictionary and got banned, lol

I used to post on there years ago - back when they had a rule banning more than three photos per post (apparently to save their bandwidth)

I photoshopped 4 larger photos into one regular-sized-image to further help save their bandwidth and got banned for “circumventing the rules” ???

Seriously?

Wow, what a bunch of Nazis!

I post there occasionally, but have not encountered any of these stupid rules.

I just spend little time there because days can pass with no new posts.

I  quit  posting  there  when  they   deleted  my  truck  photos  saying  they   didn't meet their  standards  then  two weeks later   got a  post  card  want  me  to  subscribe  I  sent it  back  saying on it   no longer interested

I stopped visiting when they made the format change. It's too much of a PITA to just see the new posts in a thread. Plus, I got tired of the whiners and bullies.

The three picture rule was for the folks on dialup (is that still a thing?) IIRC.
