Khils Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Saturday February 1st.....Zumbro Valley Scale Modelers hosted the annual "Hope it don't snow show" ...... there were a lot of outstanding models of nearly every imaginable subject matter on display & very deserving their awards! Very well done accomplishment to ALL entrants!! I would like to personally congratulate my friend ...Steve Guthmiller ...being awarded for TWO of his three entrants... (I'm in envy Sir!) the '65 Fury & the '67 Galaxies. All three would've captured my vote! I very much look forward to seeing the '68 Olds 442 in person at our next meeting! As Snake would say ......" model on Sir! " -Kevin

As Snake would say ......" model on Sir! " -Kevin I thank you very much kind sir! Just returned from the show this afternoon and I was quite surprised to see this thread. I am very humbled! It was good to see you again Kevin, and I hope to see you again very soon. I will just add that the second award I received, (not pictured above) was an award for the best "green" subject called the "It Ain't Easy Being Green" award. The categories for automotive subjects were quite limited and I entered the '67 Ford in this "special award" category on a whim only because it happened to be green. I really didn't expect to win as there were upwards of probably 150 or more military and aviation entrants, a large portion of which were painted green of course. I was quite surprised, and very amused when they presented me with this trophy! Regardless of the whimsical nature of the award, I was very humbled to receive it! And yes, they did present me with a trophy that was a bit more "main stream" to accompany it. Thanks to everyone from the Zumbro Valley chapter of the IPMS for seeing fit to recognize my work! I am very honored!! And of course, thank you again to Kevin for his warmth and for helping me to feel comfortable at an event that I have never attended, even though I lived in the area for more than 30 years! It was great fun! Steve
keyser Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Congrats. Really nice builds all. Glad a car beat military. IPMS giving us more props over last few years.

bbowser Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Your threads are ones I always look at regardless of subject because I know they will be outstanding replicas. Kudos!
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Thanks guys! It's fun to engage with other modelers at these shows on occasion, and of course it's always a bonus to bring home a couple of awards in the process. It's also a great ego boost!! I appreciate all of your comments folks! Steve
Bucky Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Congrats, Steve! All three are stunning builds, and the subject matter isn't often seen at model shows. The "green" trophy is just too cool!
