1981 release of the Monogram 1/24 scale Boss Mustang. Painted in Tamiya TS-75 Champagne gold and cleared with Testors glosscote. The trunk spoiler has been painted and built but I'm undecided whether or not to install it. While I think these look good with the spoiler I also feel it interrupts from the fastback lines.

Whenever a hood is warped I normally drop in it warm water and it can usually been bent back to proper shape. I never had an issue with the hoods on this kit and never thought to check it prior to painting. The warpage has created a bit of an unsightly gap on the passenger side. It's my biggest disappointment with the build.

Looks pretty kewl in my book.  Nicely done.  My wife and I have a 1949 Chevy 5 window pickup and when she retires next year she wants a 1965 Mustang.  I've already stated looking to see what's out there and the prices.

Wow, awesome!  At a model swap meet in January, a vendor had 2 of these complete kits in one box for $15.  Needless to say, that went home with me.  I'll build one in Pastel Blue, an uncommon color for these Boss 429s.

Beautiful clean build. I like the understated champagne and black, a nice change from the brighter colors you usually see for these (grabber blue, mint green, bright orange or red). The wheels are my favorite part.

That color looks dynamite on the Mustang! Look at how it accentuates and highlights all the lines and curves.

Ford missed a perfect opportunity not using that color!

They could've called it "Platinum Sand" or "Regency Gold"

Very classy color.

Thanks Bob and good luck in your search for the Mustang.

Thanks David, and sounds like you got a great deal on those kits.  I have a couple more of these 429's plus a few 302's still unbuilt.

Thanks Bill, I have the '69 kit and might paint that one in gold to have a matching pair.

Thanks John. I like the Grabber Greens and Blue as much as anybody but understated is what I was going for with this build.

Thanks Patrick, it's true gold was not an option on the Boss 429's that year. Ford did offer a medium gold for the Mustang that year which bears some similarity to this color.

Beautiful looking Mustang great looking paint and trim.  I agree with you on the spoiler. While most of the 1:1's had one and it was the style of the day, I think it disrupted the flow of the body lines.

Thank you David and yes I plan to leave off the trunk spoiler.

Very nice build, I really like the colour on this one, nice work. Bout time I built another Mustang. I've been wanting to do another since I did the Revell version and loved it, they're great looking kits.

Thanks Gareth, I've built a few of these with four more still unbuilt. Definitely on of my favorites.

very nice job great work and great color

Thank you Cliff. I wondered afterwards how this color might have looked with a red interior.
