carbuilder1950 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 (edited) This was a great resin body to build. No conversions or customizing. Hardly any cleanup or fitting. Forgot pics of the chassis, but not much to see. Came with the hood closed. No engine. Painted the car with urethane paints and after it was foiled, I covered it with several coats of urethane clear, even over the foil, and then rubbed it out. Always amazes me at how urethane paints have such a depth of color. Edited September 24, 2021 by carbuilder1950 3
Bucky Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 I like the way you incorporated the checkerboard into the side panels. NO, WAIT!! That's a reflection in that brilliant red! Seriously, this is a fantastic build! 1
Zippi Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 WOW.....that's a good looking Oldsmobile Dave. That color just pops. Fantastic build.
misterNNL Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Was this a Modelhaus resin kit? Beautifully done !!
Claude Thibodeau Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Hi David! Great build, and the color combo is perfectly representative of the era. One of our neighbour had one when I was a kid, it it was very similar... CT
Kromolly Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Beautiful car and so nicely represented by your quality build and stunning paint and foil work. Nicely done... thanks for sharing! P.S. The wires & spinners are cool!
Bills72sj Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Sweet ride! I have a resin 56 Olds to build someday. What chassis did you use?
bisc63 Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Good to see a tri-five cousin getting some love. The Olds is such a nice looking automobile, and along with the '56 Bel Air, is just made for two-toning. Nice job!

Hi-Po Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Simply beautiful!! Outstanding work on paint and foil. I like it.
1959scudetto Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Very nice, Olds, David - the two-tone paint schemes are what sparked my interest in 50's cars.

espo Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 This looks just like some of the 1:1 Olds of that time. Beautiful finish. Who is the supplier for this resin body ?
doorsovdoon Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Looks perfect. I love the colours, very rich. That paint really shouts!
