Thanx for the feedback guys! I've got a little more done. Mostly tweaks on the fitment. This should be the last mockup. Notice the grille?

This was the toughest grille I've opened up! Not because it was difficult. But, because the styrene is so brittle, I had to do it all by hand. No Dremel on this one! It took a while. But, the effect in the end will be worth it.

I cut away the old radiator and shroud from the radiator support and replaced it with the radiator and electric fan from an MPC '85 Corvette. 

It's a tight fit. 

I finally solved my problem with the trunk hinge. More on that when I blow it back apart. Hopefully, I'll be shooting some primer soon.

I don’t like a lot of rake on full size cars or ones that have a lot of rear overhang. That is perfect! The grill opened up is a huge improvement! Looking great!?

Thanx guys, I appreciate the feedback! Bench time has been almost non existent lately. But, I am able to get a little time in here and there. A little progress is better than no progress. As stated earlier, I was able to come up with a solution for my trunk hinge. The first thing I did was separate the package tray from the rear seat. With the glass installed, I then glued the package tray to the body. 

Now I have a solid mounting point for the hinge that allows it to swing properly. 

The glass simply slides back out. The rear of the seat meets up nicely and gives a true separation line.

About all that's left to do on the body is scribing in the lines around the remaining chrome trim and some minor touch ups. I haven't been able to pick a color for the body yet. I'm kinda thinking Pearl White. Also thinking Deep Blue Metallic and Light Gun Metal. I want something different than the typical color. But, so far, the vision for the color hasn't come to me.

Nice to see you back at the bench Roger. Very clever idea the trunk hinge mount. Under side of trunk with bracing etc.  looks fantastic. Looking forward to seeing what colours you choose.

This is like a university course on how to detail with modelling challenges!  My hat is off to you, Roger, this is an amazing build.  My face just twisted up when you said you were going to trim the side trim down to a narrower width.  If I had attempted that it would have looked like it was done with a chainsaw! The stance is awesome and the turned front wheels are a favourite pose of mine. I will continue watching for sure.

FWIW< the pearl white, maybe with a touch of blue in the chrome trim, sounds like the ticket!

Thanx for the feedback guys, I appreciate it! I finally got the first coat of primer on. I made a couple of changes to the body. I added the quarter window detail using a strip of .020 styrene. I mulled over that for a while! It looks odd to me. But, that's how it is on the full scale. I may add the quarter glass to it so that it doesn't look out of place. After seeing Ray's Galaxie without the fender ornaments, I decided to get rid of them on mine also. Looks much cleaner without them!

I have the body color narrowed down to two choices. It'll either be Tamiya Haze Grey or Light Ghost Grey. I want something similar to the grays you see on modern cars. I may shoot a coat of pearl over it, may not. Have see once I have the paint in hand. I haven't decided on painting the wheels or just shooting them with a coat of satin clear. Still plenty of time to sort that out.

Lucky day! The Haze Grey and Light Ghost Grey arrived by UPS! When I first saw them, I thought they didn't look much different than the primer on it. There's only a shade difference between the two colors. But, both are quite different than the primer. Looking at the two together, it looks like the Haze Grey will be the winner on this project. It has just a tinge of a bluish shade to it. So, it should go well with the Bahama Blue interior. 

I can't wait to get some color shot on it to see what it's going to look like! Plus, it'll help me make up my mind about the wheels. Now, I'll just have to come up with a project for that Light Ghost Grey!

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang!!! I'm really glad I looked at this thread. Not only is this an amazing build so far but I was looking at hinging my trunk lid on my latest build and had forgotten how to do it so this was a good refresher.

The work on that grille is off the charts!
