happy grumpy Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Did this one last year, as the frame was a little warped and the kit was missing some parts , I decided to build it as a derelict rotting away in a field. The peeling chrome on the bumpers were done by first , stripping the chrome, then painting them red brown before foiling and then like in real life peeling bits of chrome. I remember being young playing in junkyards seeing that thick chrome peeling right off when we would pull on large pieces. Chrome back then was very thick. I tried to simulate that on this model. thank you for looking and commenting. 6
Zippi Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Wow Mario. That looks pretty kewl man. I'm surprised someone hasn't come along and taken that old rim laying on the ground.
Painted Black Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Great weathering job. Some neat details on this .
Scott8950 Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 The weathering is very convincing. Nice job
David G. Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Beautiful diorama, very convincing. I can almost smell the dust and grit. "Yeah, that's restorable!" David G.
bisc63 Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 The only thing missing is a wasp nest in that headlight opening!
Bills72sj Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 You NAILED the weathering! Most impressive.
Bainford Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Wow, that is some very impressive weathering. Very realistic. You have a real knack for building a distressed model. Excellent work!
bbowser Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Wow! Excellent model. I haven't the nerve to try something like that.
89AKurt Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 What everyone else already said. ? Has good bones, could be restored with lots of $$$$.
Doug 1061 Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Too cool. Great use of a defective kit. I gotta try that sometime. All that's missing is some bullet holes?

That's a great idea Rusty, something to keep in mind for my next junkyard project, a 65 chevy. 15 minutes ago, Doug 1061 said: Too cool. Great use of a defective kit. I gotta try that sometime.
