Marc Weller Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 (edited) I finished my Riv last night. First completed project in a year or so. I need to pick up the pace so I can finish several hundred more projects in my lifetime. I'm only 67 so it shouldn't be a problem. Ertl yellow plastic Riviera mostly out of the box with the exception of Pegasus wheels and tires. Paint done with Createx water based stuff and a House of Color 2K clear coat. Claude Thibodeau Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Hi Mark! Beautifull Riv, you certainly have not lost the touch, bravo! Those air-brush "bursts" remind me of what we used to custom-paint on 1/1 choppers back in the 60's. We both know that most casual observers generally don't have a clue about the technique to create them. The famous Art Himsl of California used them profusely back then, to good effect. Tastefull paint job, and your clear is world-class! CT
Marc Weller Posted January 7, 2022 Author Posted January 7, 2022 Wow, Clyde you are too kind. I'm certainly a fan of Himsl, Winfield, Jr. Conway, Larry Watson and all of the great custom painters from that era !! I spend way too much time looking at lowriders on Pinterest. There are probably more great '60's style custom painters out there now than there ever was in the '60's.
Koellefornia Kid Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Excellent! great paintwork and the Pegasus Sovereigns looks like they were made for this kit! ?

Zippi Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 You got a looker there Marc. Pretty kewl paint job and that interior looks comfy.

You are perfectly right. The term had eluded me this morning, another senior moment on my part, I guess... Now you restore my memory. Thanks! CT
Kah puts Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 That's one helluva paint job, kudos, thanks for posting.
Phirewriter Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 Beautiful paint work! Early ('63 -'67) Riviera's are so nice looking, the paint really sets it off well.
Cool Hand Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) Agree with everyone else that the paint job is an eye catcher. Looks amazing in the sunlight with the pearl shimmering. Well done. Edited January 8, 2022 by Cool Hand
1930fordpickup Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 Well done on the best looking GM from the 60's.
PappyD340 Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 That's a real beauty, outstanding paint work!!
carrucha Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 Nice Riviera. Good work on the paint. I really dig the wheel/tire combo.
