alan barton Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) There have been some nice Monogram Model As on here lately so I thought I would add my build from earlier this year. I wanted to see if I could combine the parts from the last re-issue of the monogram Woody with the last re-issue of the Monogram coupe. Turns out it works pretty well with a couple of cautions. Firstly, the woody dash with multiple gauges clashes with the model A coupe interior trim panels. Would be easier to trim before paint - ask how I know this! Also, if you glue the roof on prior to paint, the interior panels can be a struggle to fit and further trimming was required. And those headers came from the original Red Chariot kit - I had saved them for a project like this! Paint is Tamiya Bright red over Tamiya pink primer and three coats of Tamiya clear straight from the can. I cheated and left the stock rear axle in place but a nine inch would have made more sense. It was a fun build and I didn't want to get trapped in overcomplicationitis! Cheers Alan Edited September 4, 2022 by alan barton 8
espo Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Beautiful looking paint job, and the overall body looks great. I like the wide whites.
mrm Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Very nice coupe. I have that kit, but it hasn't gone past me looking at the parts.
Dave Darby Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Alan, that is beyond cool! I love everything about this build.
larman Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Another winner! Your Monogram builds are super! Love the color and stance. That dash is cool too!
Raymond Gallant Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Beautifully captured circa '60s... Love the fact that the top is actually seam filled to the body. Most examples you see have that awful line between the body and the top. Great color too...
TooOld Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 That's one nice looking Model A Coupe , beautifully done Alan !
carrucha Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Cool hotrod! Nice color. I like the wheel/tire combo.
bisc63 Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Great choices made for a period-perfect rod. Nicely done.
Zippi Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 What a kewl looking Hot Rod. That red just Pops and really makes this little Coupe come alive. Very nicely done.
Phildaupho Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Super nice expression of sixties goodness.
alan barton Posted September 5, 2022 Author Posted September 5, 2022 I've heard that expression before! Thanks everyone for the responses - they mean a lot to me! Cheers Alan
Brianl Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Sweet build Alan. Stance, wheels and colour combination are spot on. Looks like it came straight from the cover of a '60's Hot Rod mag. Brian
doctor phillips Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Great job!!! Love and paint & presentation!
Plowboy Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Very cool! Perfect meshing of the two kits! This should have been done by Monogram.
