When I built the Bullitt charger, in order to have a vinyl top, I swapped the body with the 69 charger from Revell. Which left me with a complete kit to built a smooth top 69 . So I went for Crazy Larry's ride. I had some trouble with the front end, it did not fit really good but after some trial and error, it went together although not as good as I would have hoped for. Still, anyone who watched that movie will be able to recognize this classic. Some scenes in the movie show a 68 front grille but the hero car was a 69. I printed the decals but had some trouble on one side but it's not too apparent. The wheels came from the spare box. I moved them a little bit outward to fill the fenders and a beefier look. The color is a mix of green and yellow from Tamiya. I don't know the exact color, it changes when you compare the movie from actual photos so I just eyeballed it.

As always , thanks for looking

Nice Mario.  The color looks Great.  Good looking wheels & tires from the parts box and they give the car a nice stance.

I've been wanting to do this myself.  The model came out good.

I had the same problem with the front end of my 68 kit too.  The front suspension keeps the piece for the lights from fitting properly.  I had to use super glue and hold it in place just to try to get a slightly good fit.  It was tough, but I got it to look ok.  I haven't had a chance to get pics yet.  I just finished it this past weekend.

Cool build, Mario. One of my favourite movie cars. Your colour looks like a great match for the original. The movie car was a yellow/green colour, possibly cintron yella, which can look yellow or green, depending on lighting. In movie post production, the crew responsible for adjusting the colour of the film thought the car was yellow, and the film was tinted to so the car would appear plain yellow throughout the film. Many scenes of the movie have an unnaturally warm colouring as a result.

Remember very little from the movie except this car. The color looks just as I remember it and the side stripe looks good.

This is as nice as your other models, Mario - your eyeballing is excellent! The color seems correct to me (saw the movie back in the 70's at the cinema) - immediately Peter Fonda and Susan George come to my mind and the unhappy ending with the train after being chased by the helicopter...

Looks great. The movie is before my time, but I remember watching it late one night on TV as a teen and really rooting for them, and feeling a little sad at the end even though they're the bad guys, lol. It's been a favourite film of mine since.

Quite lovely replica! Spot on, down to its 1971-issue licence plate.

Legend has it that one can build the post-train-crash version of that Charger completely O.O.B. using the MPC 1969 Charger.

Thanks Bob, moving the wheels outward sure makes it look more aggressive.

One of my favorite Chargers........well done! I built 2 myself......wonder if you could make one from the Duke's 1/16 kit???

Thanks Dave. The Dukes is on my to do's but I sur would go with the revell kit, I would only use the decals and wheels from the MPC kit.

Thanks Trevor. Interesting fact about the color correcting . Several factors affect how color is rendered, not to mention how monitor screens render color and lighting being a big factor. For me, if it looks right then it's good enough for me.

Thanks David. This is my second favorite movie car after the mustang from Bullitt.

Thanks Gareth. There was a nice, gritty vibe to these movies. the stunts were real and raw. The chopper stunt was awesome and Vic Morrow was such in character. I like to re watch it from time to time.

Great job! Citron yellow hue does vary in different lighting but iit still makes it a knockout to have sitting in you collection.   BTW I was in my early teens when I saw the movie at the theater,  then later at a drive in.....way better experience at the drive in, BIG screen, a decent and adjustable volume speaker! Keep em coming!
