David, to be honest I have not built one of their Cobra kits so I can't answer that. I think JC (afx) has and perhaps he will respond.

Never built one either, but I recall the reviews back when they first came out indicated concern that the stock windshield frame was too thick..

Did a bit of trading and got these Motor Wheel Spyders, I'm going to use them on my Daytona transporter. Received my Futura headlight as well, many thanks! There are some real cool cats on this forum!

This arrived yesterday, courtesy of my favorite ebay seller. A Jo-han ' 62 Lark hardtop promo, with original box. I intend to carefully, and I mean c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y take it apart, clean up the body, scribe the panels, polish out the plastic and foil it. I'll detail the interior as best I can, and call it good. So, if anyone has any advice on what's involved in the reverse assembly, like how hard are those pins holding the chassis on to remove, feel free to pipe up. Snake 45, where are you . . . . . ?

Not a big deal from my experience with X-El reissues; they're actually softer plastic, tapered and ridged for a jam fit - I got 'em out with my fingernails. The interior/glass is probably heat-swaged in like the original promos.

I took one apart not long ago. I remember it coming apart pretty well. It's got a warped roof that I can't fix and is a year older. A few pics of the pieces might help.

Mama loadBill and I swam all the way to the Mama's  Midatlantic NNL yesterday..  miserable rainy day!  Fortunately model car shows are indoors and we had a nice day.  I really enjoy model shows where I'm not responsible for anything!

I managed to find some goodies...  I had been looking for the Toyoda Model AA and found it for $20.  This is the first Toyota and it was thought that no examples had survived. So Toyota recreated a car from scratch for their anniversary.  A bit later one was discovered in a barn in Russia.  All of the examples I've seen built and in progress, are building pristine vehicles... with some guys going the street rod way, but I'm looking to build this one to replicate the barn find. I have all the photos saved!

Second up is a Dodge Caravan. You will recall the two I built in the light commercial arena. I had been looking for more at shows, and hadn't found any until now. I got this one for $10 factory sealed.  I still have a few of the earlier red version, but I ruined all the headlights trying to get a pair that didn't show the press fit slot on the back.  (Anyone have any spare Caravan headlights?)  I have an idea for this one but I'll keep y'all in suspense!

And who can pass up yet another Geo Storm for $3? We had a 1:1 of this same year that served our family well as both of my daughters first car.  Maybe I'll take this one apart to build that car.   Those who have these will attest that they are welded together pretty sturdy.  Quite a job to get one apart.

Anyway, I got out of there spending just $33. And we had a very nice day thanks to the Mama's Boys!

Although going against my recent selling spree of all car kits of 1/24 & 1/25 due to lack of space my youngest son has always wanted a 1:1 of these in this colour to carry his mountain bike a gear around in. He does cross country on his bike, wereas the eldest son does more downhill.

He was looking for a decent reasonaly priced second-hand one, but he bought a BMW 3 series touring wagon in the same colour!

Cool! Does the '57 Ford have the Styline front and rear ends?

Yup, it has everything but the body & chassis. Decals, seat covers, everything on the trees, even the dog.

Funny coincidence, Pat. I JUST ordered an Aoshima Subaru STi in 1/24 for my son.

He is hot in getting that as his 1:1 car as well...we've been looking, just have not found the right one yet

I ordered the new moebius 1969 ford f100 model kit off eBay today, I'm looking forward to opening it up and looking at it, and more importantly building it!

Yes this Subaru Wagon 1:1  seems to be pretty rare in the UK. But plenty of Impreza's as the Prodrive factory is 18 miles away and quite a few rally WRC replica's as well.

Have a look in farming areas if you want the wagon, much more common in those areas in the UK at least

I wish all wheel packages were like this. Turned rims, turned lug nuts, etched centers, decal centers, turned valves, separate faces,

Got a set of NOS '62 Pontiac Grand Prix grilles for my AMT '62 Catalina - thanks so much to Steven for taking time out from his moving preparations to send 'em!

Too bad AMT never did a Grand Prix version of the Catalina kit; the grilles were a custom part in the long-gone original '62 Bonneville hardtop.
