Mark Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 The Ideal Indy car kits were created by, I believe, a company called Best. Ideal acquired the tooling for them at some point. The Monogram Kurtis was pretty much "it" for 1/24-1/25 scale Indy cars until AMT tooled the Watson roadster and Lotus, then IMC jumped in and did another Lotus soon after they got up and running. 1

I found one a few years ago, on Ebay. I hadn't thought about it (it's sitting on top of my bookcases, with my other kitschy stuff) until you mentioned "Ideal". It's got an apparent V-8, in it.? While it's not super-detailed, I have a Monogram Kurtis Craft car I built about 30 years ago. It was one I got in the double kit, with the Edmunds Supermod. It was molded in red, so, of course I wanted it to be yellow! Edited July 6, 2024 by Straightliner59 3
absmiami Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Speaking of Indy kits - justgot this Bill Jorgenson 25th sc resin and white metal Turbine kit - with Cady decals no less - its solid cast - although i have seen pix on the almighty internet of this kit w top and bottom body castings …. That must be rare … 4
absmiami Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Probably should correct the spelling error- Bill Jorgensen …
Keef Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Got this cheap in an auction on that site. Don’t know what plans are but it is complete and came apart very easily. 5

NOBLNG Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 They were sold out of the Tamiya photo etch blades so I picked these up at a local hobby shop. They measure .012” thick. They also sell a nice aluminum handle for them. But…me being a cheapskate, I just trimmed the tang a bit to fit into a regular exacto handle.? 3

junkyardjeff Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Got this one today and looks like the engine was not improved, just like the original it's a Y block with FE looking heads. I will fix that problem with parts from the 57 car engine. 3

OldNYJim Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Hit the (only) local hobby store this morning… Needed some paint, but I dug thru their parts junkyard and found a couple of little bits… Bunch of old MCMs and Scale Autos for a couple of bucks each, plus a Prowler snapper that I don’t really have a specific use for, but I’ll get my $5s worth of fun out of it somehow… Plus they had some vintage Pactra paint, some patterned sheet that I wanted and some Tamiya and Mr Hobby stuff that was on my grocery list: Then my wife wanted to hit Joann so I grabbed one of these with their 40% off coupon: And I passed on this jacket at the thrift store, on my wife’s recommendation ? 2

ranma Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 (edited) Testors Lincoln mint 2006 Dodge charger R/T. Plastic 1/24 kit with all parts still sealed in their own bags. Model on box top is painted red on this copy, parts molded in white in the kit box. Edited July 8, 2024 by ranma
Brudda Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Bought this from my friend Mark. 289 fia roadster. This is going to be fun. 7
RSchnell Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Haven't had much time for building since work has been keeping me busy, but I've been adding a few kits to the stash. The '64 Falcon kit is complete, I just need a '65 Falcon convert to go with it! The ICM Model A's look very very nice in person. It's evident they copied a GAZ A (Russian Model A) but a vast improvement over the old Monogram Model A kits! 6
A modeler named mike Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Showed up today by mail from a ebayer in Hawaii. I always like this car but never wanted to pay the crazy cost that they're bringing. I believe I got lucky with a $39.00 winning bid plus shipping and tax. Would make a really cool racecar or hot rod.. 3
Tabbysdaddy Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 From my daughter: I introduced her to The Monkees and she loves them. I have one that I built a long time ago but built it with tan interior and top as per the box art of the issue I had. I had told her I wanted to build one with the correct white top and interior so she got me the new issue. 3
OldNYJim Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Picked up the metal-tin edition of the AMT Double Dragster - I’ve been watching for a good deal on one of these for a few months and finally found one… 1

carrucha Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Over the weekend I went to Sheldon's Hobbies in San Jose CA and picked up AMT's 1959 Cadillac ambulance and 1962 Pontiac Catalina. They had a 4th of July sale where you bought one kit regular price and the second kit of equal of lesser value was half off. I paid $37.99 for the Cadillac and $15.00 for the Catalina. Good deal. They have been buying model kit collections so they have a bunch of vintage kits in stock. Most are military aircraft and armor and some automotive kits. 3
