A beautiful, beautiful build! My best friend's mother drove one of these when I was growing up, but her's was Medium Blue with a Blue interior. I don't know how many Little League baseball games I went to in the back seat of that Ford, but it was alot. Your build brought back some good memories for me! I sure wish this vintage kit could find its way onto the reissue list, but I doubt that will ever happen!

Great build; a creative use of parts that come=together very, very well! Where did you source those wheels from?

Excellent build! Sure would like to see some more pics, too! Where did you source the wheels you used on this build? -
Simply love this build! One of the best of this vintage kit that I have ever seen, and I pay alot of attention to '70 Mercury Cyclones! Boy, if only they could find the molds for this kit and fill 'em up with molten styrene again!

Dang... I like this build alot! I remember these cars well; one of the cutest girls in my high school drove one and every guy wanted to "visit those wild rainbow stripes" in the back seat! LOL I think you're build is excellent, especially for that challenging MPC kit! Looks great!

Purple Pond Surprise!

Been there... done that! Fortunately my spill ended up on the garage floor so clean up wasn't as critical! -
Two excellent builds! Would like to see some engine pics, too! I can tell the early-1990's build is probably from the 1/25 Revell kit; is the other more-recent one from a 1/24 kit? (it seems so much larger overall than the 1990 build).

Yep; that's one that I've been waiting a few decades in the hope that it'd happen!

Beautiful build! Your paint and decal work look flawless; everything looks right-on-the-money! It amazes me how these C7 Corvettes look, (to my eye), like they have an outrageously-tall roof-line when viewed from above, but the roof drops-down so drastically when viewed from the side. Guess those leaning-inward door & side windows create that illusion; to me the car looks so much better when viewed from that side-view!

Another beautifil build! How did you so cleanly adhere those clear, rear glass pods?

WOW X 3 !!!

Really like this build; everything about it looks top-notch! Sure would like to see a pic or two of the bottom to see how that old Nascar chassis "fits" underneath the great-loooking body. Also; did you have to fill-in and reduce the size of the huge wheel openings on that vintage body?

1/25 Goodyear Tires Question
'70 Grande replied to '70 Grande's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Can-Con; Thanks for educating me. I did not know exactly what the different letters and numbers meant and your information is very helpful to me... thanks again! I also apprecaite the possible kit sources you have mentioned; my search begins! -
1/25 Goodyear Tires Question
'70 Grande replied to '70 Grande's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Can-Con- Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea what Monogram kits might have those Gatorbacks in them? I could probably revise the rear wheels that I'm using on this build to have a larger-diameter rim measurement. Also; weren't there some 1/25 AMT/Ertl or MPC kits that came with VR-__-sized tires; I wonder if any of those "VR" tires might be what I'm looking for?!? I'm open to any suggestions. -
I am working on a 1/25 MPC 1985 Camaro project and have found that Goodyear ZR40 tires will give me the "look" that I want for this build when used as the front tires, but they seem alittle too short in height when being used for the rear tires. My question is this; is there another 1/25 Goodyear performance tire out there that has the same style of tread-pattern and treadwidth, but is slightly-taller than the ZR40 tires are? I know some AMT/Ertl kits of the past have had Goodyear ZR35-sized tires in them, and also ZR60-sized tires. Are either of those tire sizes close to what I am seeking, (a taller ZR40 tire)?

Love this build! Great color, stance, engine detailing! Sure would like to see some pics showing the front and rear ends, (I especially wanna see how fat those tires look from the rear)!

I'm thinking the 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass F85 or 442 would be a good choice for a new tool. http://www.ultra-high-compression.com/sitebuilder/images/redlines-1-951x457.jpg -
Love your build SFD! And the story is fabulous, too! Bet there are many forum members that have a very similar story from their past... my was a '65 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 with the 400cid V8 under the hood for $1,000 in 1976, (I was 17 at the time). Dad heard that 400 start-up and immediately said, "Nope."

That Porsche race car caught my eye; did anyone know that one was coming? Any idea if its a reissue of a Revell of Germany kit, anything like that or something completely new? Wonder if it has a complete engine in it or is more of a curbside.
-
I've always thought these kits have very good detail and smooth, not-too-complicated construction. I'm in the middle of building one right now, and have had no issues with putting it together. To my eye, the end-result looks to be spot-on to the 1:1!
-
Love seeing these 1:1 Dealer "Special" cars being built! I've seen one of these Bengal Chargers several years ago; they certainly stand-out wherever they're parked! I'll be watching you finish-up this build; it sure looks good so far!

Looks like you've done some mods to this build other than the excellent paintwork and weathering. Do I detect some flares added to those rear fenders? Sure would like to see some more pics from the side and rear of this build! It looks great! -
Outstanding build! Beautiful paintwork and color choices. I think you should be proud of this build; I know I'd be!
-
Really looking forward to seeing this one up-on-its-wheels and complete! That interior looks excellent as well as everything else! I certainly keep watching this one finish-up!
