  1. Why not? Promote it as a "Stephen Guthmiller build" with your excellent photos (very important), start with a low opening bid like $50 or $100 (even more important!) with a sub-$500 reserve if you like, and let the bids roll in. Quality sells itself. ETA: Probably skip the Buy it Now option - those high prices tend to scare off bidders from what I've seen.
  2. Wow. Did Moebius have access to your friend's cars?
  3. My foot won't be loud enough, or make the pieces fly far enough.
  4. Won a Revell Cobra 427S/C at the LMMCC meeting raffle last evening - interesting but probably trading material; also got a '66 Skylark Modified Stocker fairly reasonable on eBay - reliving one of my childhood builds (except I won't spray it with hot lacquer and craze the he out of the body this time). The '69 Chevy wire wheels came in as well; little jewels - should be working on casting them soon.
  5. Well, now I'm interested: If I can use this to begin backdating the Revell kit to a '73...
  6. Beautiful! I grew up reading about this car as it was built. Just needs one more detail: So here you go!
  7. Guess what? http://www.fireballmodels.info/images/FMR-148 lg.JPG
  8. Here they are, if you can't open the file: (And if anyone has a '71-74 parts car, I could use the headlights for my '65 Oldsmobile Jetstar conversion! )
  9. Ad from the 1958 Galena Park, TX high school yearbook: I guess this was for carrying pipe or long ladders?
  10. Wonder if the chassis (which was sourced from a British Jowett Jupiter) would be useful for re-creating one of those homebuilt sports cars that were popular in the Fifties?
  11. That was the one that blew up; the rollover stunt car was a 2-door post. It had an Olds rear end with those distinctive wheels that nobody makes in scale (hint hint Chief Joseph...) Stunt car: Burn car: My car:
  12. The one time I tackled this kit, it was in the late '70s and I put a ton of work into kitbashing it with an AMT Nomad to build Bob Falfa's "'very wicked" '55 Chevy; got it about 3/4 done. The body panels fit together fairly well. Maybe I should finish it as the stunt car that was rolled...
  13. ^^^The idea was to make it look like a Buick, if you're referring to the fadeaway fenders.
  14. Per JohnG at Round2, they can't find the interior or chassis molds. http://www.collectormodel.com/round2-models/2224-whats-a-hanger-shot/ (Comment #43)
  15. Just got these sharp wire wheels; they were custom parts from the AMT '69 Impala but had previously been offered in the '67 and '68 Continentals: I'll try to cast them up in resin; we'll see how it goes.
  16. For me, El Matador is OK but not a huge favorite. The Aztec: they did everything but section it, which was the one thing it really needed. Dream Truck: Agree to disagree? To me it flows very well; maybe you'd like it better in a solid color without the scallops? (And while we're at it, what do you think of the Hirohata Mercury?)
  17. Checked the Schaumburg store today and they still had several of the sale kits; picked up a 99-cent bottle of Testors semi-gloss tan and a can of metallic black for a buck fifty-seven.
  18. Surprised nobody's suggested a Modified Stocker yet!
  19. Oh that is sweet, since my dad bought one new and it was the first car I ever rode in: Dawn Gray over black. Wanted to get one of those R&Rs but never had the funds when one popped up. Hope some other resin outfit decides to bootleg recreate it!
  20. For me, it's the rare (but not well done) ITC '40 Mercury convertible. Unlike many rare kits, you don't usually find eBay bidders clawing at each other to get it, probably because it has almost as many accuracy issues as a Pyro Auburn Speedster. Will I build it? Yes. As a gasser. After I fix the body problems. (Re the Floride/Caravelle: Record also made a Dauphine that is fully detailed; unfortunately it has issues with the body shape. A friend of mine is looking at combining it with the Hubley body to get an accurate model.)
  21. 1955 was the first year, at least for the Chrysler and Buick. Here's mine (sorry but the parking lot's JAMMED on the Fourth of July!) It's a Country Squire; PMC did the Country Sedan as a promo. Revell molded it in Code E Silver Mocha.
  22. Got the blues just now - Testors GTS and Royal Blue pearls on special at HL. Also picked up the gravity feed Iwata Neo so I'll probably trade off my siphon-fed one. Amazingly I managed to walk out without any kits!
  23. I have the ITC grille in my parts pile, Bill, and I may have one spare original issue '50 kit custom hardtop roof that you 'd need to un-chop - let me know if that would help.
  24. Just got back from the Deerfield store; the kits and a few paints are on sale now (same kits mentioned above).
  25. Found it online; think it was an expired eBay listing.
