I've really wanted to build one of these as well. Chances are I'll never find the AM Eleanor kit though. Will be watching this one come together.

In my opinion, there's two major things to get right with a General Lee build: 1.) The car body-It's gotta look the part and it's gotta be near perfect in regards to the look and finish...……….and 2.) The wheels. If the wheels are a flub job then the whole thing looks off balance. I've got one of the rear wheels pretty much completed and I feel pretty fair about the outcome. The wheels will come from the Eckler Corvette and are a little wider/ deeper for a more aggressive looking Lee. I stuck the tire on a 14mm deep socket (next time I'll use a shallow socket for more control and less wobble) and spun it up on a drill with the tire on some sandpaper to achieve the worn tire tread look. The hairs on the bench....still floating around a couple weeks after he's been gone. Good ol' Bear. My red heeler that I rescued off of the street and had for around 10 years had a series of seizures that lasted 30 minutes. He couldn't pull out of it...just too much on him. Pretty tough thing to do in putting him down but it was his time I guess. Miss you "big dog". Bear on the right:(Not to be forgotten either was Scooter--pictured here on the left. That dog lived to be 17 years old.)

This is one sharp build here. Really nice interior (nice touch with the keys btw) and excellent color & clear coat. Beautifully done sir.

I've been peeking in on this build and am liking what I'm seeing so far Vincent. I don't know how detailed you want to go with the build but you could do something with those foot pedals that would make a world of difference if you're interested. The same goes for getting rid of the ejector / molding marks in the back of the interior as those will be very visible from the rear glass area.

Didn't see this reply till now Rich. Thanks for the info man. -
Not that's a good lookin' car right there! Great finish!!!

Not much of a foreign car guy but this IS a very nice build.

Thanks Wayne and Carl! I'm currently working on the chassis and suspension. Before I go too far with the painting I've gotta get the stance set up. One of the good things about going with the Revell kit for a Lee build is that it has ALOT more detail packed into the kit as well as (and this is a definite plus) posable front wheels. I've been spending the last three days cleaning up all the chassis and interior pieces of all flash and mold seam lines. It's not tooooo awful bad really but it's been some work. Referencing this for the undercarriage color coating...with orange of course.... Here's after working on the chassis, rear suspension and exhaust system. Applied a subtle wash to the undersides to bring out some of the details and add some depth. I also hit up the leaf springs and differential edges lightly with a silver lead pencil:

Top notch work on the BMF. and like Kerry said....very deserving to go into a magazine review.

This looks like it's coming together nicely Tyler. One thing I would recommend in regards to the outside rear view mirrors is to pin them prior to gluing them into place. You'll be glad you did later.

This shot could almost pass for the real deal. Excellent exterior work.

I'm right there with Martin on that license plate. Adds some depth to that area of the build. This is looking great so far.

I should really do something like this myself and your build here is driving me to want to do exactly that. So far you're really forming this all up very nicely. Following...….

Is that Testor's Icy Blue? That coat sure laid down smoothly.

I'll be tuning in to watch this one as well. I do love me some Darts.

LOL! Thanks Tom!

What's NOT to stay interested in! I have followed this build of yours the whole way through and you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be here when you pick this one back up. Looking forward to the next update when time allows on your end.

After curing out I wet sanded and polished 'er out....

I've used guitar string once before as a tail wheel retractor spring on a 1/48 Focke Wulfe 190 D-9 that I built a few years back. Worked perfect for that.

Restoring My Dads 64 Fairlane For Christmas

You know.....the one thing that I didn't notice was your age. You're almost exactly one year younger than my son is who was born on May 12, 2004. This is indeed good to see someone young like you into this hobby. You're doing some great work here bud. Keep it up. -
Good work going on with this car. I like the idea of the guitar strings for brake lines. Nifty.

I wished I would've boxed in my frame rails on my Charger build. Pure oversight and it's too late to do it now but I'll be keeping my open on future builds for that. Good added touch.

That paint job is sure a sharp one. Nice BMF job as well. WOW!!!
