  1. Thanks for posting JC.
  2. It could be a 67 or 68 but of it's supposed to be an Eleanor clone, those used most of the styling from the 67 Shelby which looks very different from the 67 Shelby. The stock 67 and 68 Mustang do not look a lot different.
  3. Page two of the Doyusha kit instructions describe the Mustang engine as a 7030 cc 429 engine. If any of the version of the kit had white decals they are incorrect. Only black or silver stripes were available from Ford. Mistaking silver for white from photos is a common mistake and even Fred Cadys decals for 1/24 Mustangs (Boss and Mach1) were the incorrect white which he later switched to the correct argent silver.
  4. Two thumbs up - I got my parts this week too from the old USSR.
  5. I like the color. Back in the 80's I knew someone with a Boss "9" and he ran BFG Comp TA's (probably 15 inch) and actually drove it on some tracks like Charlotte (aka Lowes Motor Speedway) for fun. Most of the real ones are trailer queens or just get sold over and over at auctions.
  6. I've got a couple of these kits so I'm inspired now.

  8. I got some Cobra decals from him a week ago. He's in Canada. His stuff is 1st rate.
  9. Not sure if you want to adjust that shipping price - seems kind of high for some light weight decals.
  10. His wife/girlfriend was easy on the eyes.
  11. I built one a very long time ago and I seem to recall the headers did not fit well with the sidepipes.
  12. Very nice job. My project has not gotten beyond the primer stage.
  13. Fabulous at 40. Seriously - very nice work. I have done nothing on mine except open the box. I did notice the windshield and side windows on your build seem to not be flush with the body which I assume is just a characteristic of the kit. I'm going to test fit mine and may add some body color paint to the white glue to hold them in or black to replicate trim and/or sealer. oh - and ouch on the price of the tires - $68.
  14. Yeah - I'd welcome that just to get my hands on some of the unique parts. Like it or not the quality and accuracy of the many diecast Mustangs I have purchased put plastic kits to shame. I don't think we can throw too many stones when I doubt that most people that make a resin copy of a plastic or diecast model or parts got permission from either the model company or the car company. Of course it's not a good thing when a government starts taking copyrighted property but it does not surprise me.
  15. Given that most 1/24 FM and DM diecast used to retail for $120 and up, probably not. The value of plastic kits is purely market driven (supply and demand). With diecast models - the prices have not gotten out of hand yet but limited editions can get pricey. Here are some recent examples (Ebay sales): Boss 351 DM $98 to $180. 71 429 Mach1 DM $180 to $279 A few Bosses sold for less than original retail but most sold for more.
  16. That was a once in a blue moon opportunity for me anyway. I sold the less desirable duplicates to break even and ended up with several models to add to my collection. I'll just tell my family not to sell them for $20 when I'm gone.
  17. I'm thinking most box stock builds of a current kit would go for $50 to $100 so that comes out to about $1 to $4 an hour if you're lucky.
  18. 10% a year turnover rate (that's 40 kits if you have 400) it will take ten years to sell them all. For some reason we all think we have ten years or more to live because I see a lot of people with 400 old kits for sale. On a related note - I bought some diecast models (about 30 mostly FM and Danbury Mint) for about $20 each through an auction. The guy had a collection of hundreds and I assume the heirs did not know the true value and let an auction company sell them on the cheap. This happens quite often so build those models or pare down your collection when you know your days are numbered, otherwise your collection might be sold off for pennies on the dollar.
  19. I don't expect him to sell them for $10 over his cost but clearly it's robbery charging hundreds of dollars. If those kits were that valuable they should sell a lot faster and at a fair price with millions of potential buyers on-line - not just a few hundred people at a show. I've sold a few "rare" kits on-line and I thought the bidding went higher than I expected but no one was throwing $200 into my Paypal account either. It just seems like me a REALLY slow way to make a buck with a lot of room needed to store the kits and schlep them from show to show and put them and pack them up again and again. If someone isn't happy with a reasonable profit then I just would not buy them even if it was the last kit in the world. Search on Ebay and you are bound to find someone out there selling what you cannot live without. The only other explanation for a lack of supply is there are other dealers out there refusing to sell on-line so people pay the man or go home feeling like that rare kit got way that someone else will buy. Chances are the kits will still be there next year.
  20. A little off topic but here is what I do not understand. I go to some large model car shows and I see a few vendors with a WALL full of mostly older kits without any prices. If I went this show five years from now most of the same kits would probably not be sold. Anyone in business should want to turn over their inventory quickly and make a profit. After paying a vendor fee and travels cost and spending hours trying to sell old kits, I have to wonder why some people don;t just list the kits on Ebay and sell them to the highest bidder and call it a day. There is something to be said I suppose for someone handing you cash and the model going to a good home (or probably just another collector) but this is something I observe and wondered if others think the same thing. I've never bought for fifty times its original price mainly because I'd build the kit and then it would be worthless and there is no model that I just cannot live without. Am I alone here?
  21. Ok - One more time. Keith Marks DOES have the 73 Mach1 decals in black or argent/silver. They are sold separate from the 71/72 decals. Fred Cady only did 71 Boss 351 decals.
  22. He sells the 71/72 Mach1 decals separate, a set for the 72 sprint and another for the 71 Shelby Europa. http://public.fotki.com/mofobow/ Send me a PM and let me know which 73 Grill (AMT or MPC) you need and I can probably hook your up.
  23. Buy Coulters book if you like Mustangs.
  24. I should go into business. Keith Marks has the decals.
  25. Yes - I probably have every version of the MPC, AMT, Johan, Revell, Palmer/Lindberg, misc Japanese kits and one MotorCity coupe. The convertible in primer is one I started on to do a 72 sprint conv and the black one I paid $5 at a swap meet. I think the person was going to use the Cougar interior but I'd rather work with the AMT/MPC interior. Hard to say how long until I get some paint on these bodies - perhaps this summer and I'll just build a bunch of 71-73;s in a batch. The non NACA hood was cut out of the Johan funny car and had a few copies made so I could do a sprint and a standard fastback or coupe, As you can tell from the pics I have a thing for 71-73 Mustangs.
