I made an offer of $33 for an unpainted one (004) and my offer was accepted. Like Gramps said it is a piece of modeling history and with some work will make a presentable shelf kit.

Looks great. What a difference extra detailing can make.

One of your best builds yet. Keep them coming.

This would be an interesting build. In my magazine collection spanning 40 years I have only seen this one article about the one remaining car and the story about all three cars. Such an interesting blend of a stock car, 68 Mustang, 69 fastback, with a lot of modifications to average almost 160 miles per hour. Sorry to those trying to read this on a cell phone. It was in the July 2012 issues of Muscle car review. I added a picture of the original Hot Rod magazine from 1968 (which I do not have). This would be an interesting model build with parts from a Boss 429, Mach1, 68 Mustang, 427 Cobra, stock car just to name a few. Anyone up for the challenge?

Ford vs Ferrari
vamach1 replied to Reeves Racing's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
No worries - I’ve been there. ? Rumor has it if I remember Revell may reissue them again but hard to say if they will “fix” all the things needed to make them correct for the Daytona versions or maybe they will just go with the Lemans version (with the twin scoops) on the rear deck lid and perhaps included decals set for the entire Lemans line up. Not going to hold my breath on that happening. ? -
Nice score. I think I may have to get one just for the historical value and so I’m not the only kid on the Cobra block without one.?

Bunkie Knudsen was a GM guy so there was some styling influence from what I’ve read. Having owed my 72 Mach1 for almost 40 years it’s grown on me but not sure I’d feel that way about Iacocca’s Mustang II. ? Anyway, Does anyone know what happens to the cars he makes? Do they end up selling at an auction? I think I’d rather “invest” in a original 1971 Boss 351 or 429CJ Mustang convertible. I would not mind seeing some styling exercises in 1/25 from others using the AMT or MPC kits.

Ford vs Ferrari

Very nice job on all fo them. As we know the movie used replicas for the scenes and were note 100% correct but no surprise because it’s Hollywood. Did Testor’s rebox the Fujumi kits - I have seen them under Revell branding. Anyway. Very nice jobs on all four cars and making the changes to reflect them accurately. The movie was full of holes from an accuracy standpoint plot wise but nonetheless it did well at the Box Office and my whole family enjoyed it. I need to buy the DVD as it will be worth watching again sometime. -
Super job on another very clean build that showcases your awesome painting talent and hard work.

You got that right.

I think the PSM kit is just as ugly. It’s a no for me. The taillights and wheels do nothing for it either. If overhauling tried tried to steal my car and turn it into something like this I’m calling the real police. ?

Probably be the last resin kit I will buy for a while as I have way too many other kits that have been in the box for many years. However, this was on my wish list and Brad came through as always despite his his recent health issues. It’s a full kit like the Daytona coupe.

That’s cool. he colors are great. If I run out of models which will be never I would paint the taillights on every Hotwheels car I have that are not painted no maybe add some other details to them.

(HRM) Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
vamach1 replied to Venom's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
It’s not one fo the original six and it’s not one of the twenty that McClusky built from “new” chassis. It appears to have been born a 289 roadster and converted to a Daytona Coupe. The Original six are CSX 2286, 2287, 2299, 2300, 2601 and 2602 per Pete Brock’s book from 1995. I believe the McClusky chassis are 2603-2623 but I am not sure. Many would say those are not real Daytona Coupes even though they are almost duplicates in every sense. I’ve attached the page from the book COBRA The first 40 years that shows CSX2469 which from the description should like Shelby wanted to have a Daytona Coupe since they original six race cars were used up and Ford was pushing the GT40 program so they sold them off for hardly anything. I suppose that one is where McClusky got the idea to build one more for Shelby after restoring some of the original ones over the years. My neighbor has the one featured in R&T magazine in 2015. I got to ride in it on the pace lap for a race. ? Back to the HRM model - I spoke to Brad (Harold Bradford) today and he got just gotten out of the hospital after a few weeks and he sounded okay but pray for his recovery or send him well wishes. He left a message that he was sorry the resin kit he made for was taking so long. There are not many people left around with his dedication to the hobby and his customers and Maryland Automotive Modelers Association members. He enjoyed the pictures I printed and mailed him last month that I took at the Boulder CO Shelby Collection in early January. I will send him pictures of Josh’s build when it’s done. I need to get my butt in gear and start on mine. -
Very realistic. Probably a few real ones out there very similar.?

Looking fantastic. Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

Looks great from here for kits that size. Nicely done.

Well, you cannot say I did not warn everyone. ? I think Motormax advertises this as a 007 Mach1. It’s a 1/24th scale diecast and like the Testor’s ones the doors open. The chassis is very basic, there’s no name on the hubcaps, the motor looks like a 428, but it has the shock tower braces, power steering hose, windshield washer reservoir and a two spoke ? steering wheel. Like the MPC branded as AMT it has no clutch pedal but a 4 speed shifter. The front bumper looks okay and could made to look not as wide with some black paint under the grille which isn’t bad. I painted the chrome ares black area around the headlights but otherwise it’s straight out of the box. There is a silver Mach1 tampo on the sides of the hood NACA openings which should be removed along with the America Graffitti tampo on the drivers side rear quarter panel. I did not see a single one for sale on Ebay, only a “stock: 1971 with chrome mirrors and the standard grille. Swap the wheels and add the trunk black stripe and remove the silver lettering and this diecast would be a tad better than the kit and take a lot less time. The paint is pretty nice for a $20 diecast so I’m glad I bought one when they were available. I added a few more photos to show the size difference of the Testors and Motormax diecasts compared to the AMT and MPC kits in 1/25 scale. Unlike the Testors hood the Motormax hood does not have the incorrect cowl vents.

Welcome. I have purchased some kits from France (mostly resin race cars) and I am impressed with the attention to accuracy. I am one of a few 1/43 builders on the forum and have many kits from France and the UK that I have built. Welcome to this wonderful hobby. You will lean 100 times more here than on social media sites. Everyone from beginners to experts are welcome.
