  1. Sounds simple enough, but maybe the profit margin isn't there to allow for it. I think where many of these suppliers make a mistake is in promising fast turnaround time. The Modelhaus had a policy of about 6 weeks from order to delivery and in many cases it was less than that but they always stated "allow 6 weeks for delivery" and "orders are filled in the order they are received". Don't remember Don and Carol having the issues or complaints because you knew UPFRONT the lead time and Carol was good about letting you know if there was a problem. Something most small businesses overlook is the customer service aspect of the transaction. Good customer service is not hard but bad customer service is easier.
  2. Nice job, love the color choices!
  3. People ask me why I have a dozen snappers in my stash and this is why! These kits build nicely and can be the answer to getting back to building when that detailed build is giving you a headache. Nice paint and details, love it!
  4. And ruined whatever reputation he had earned in the past as a good guy. Sorry, but if you are struggling, let people know and stop taking orders until you get it worked out, unless your goal is to take money with no intention of fulfilling orders.
  5. Not the first nor the last cottage industry hobby supplier to take people's money and disappear. Others have been well documented and some resurface with a new company, others just come on to forums like this and act like nothing happened. Sure do hope those that are owed product either get it or their money back. I would think an inquiry at the post office or local PD might get the ball rolling......
  6. The rants and raves are still there, under the community section, the personals are gone. Yes, the R&R section is source for some of my good laughs and jokes.
  7. Sweet build, love how you make it look so easy.
  8. The last couple of model shows here in the Carolinas have seemed to be pretty well attended. They (SCMA and CKM) do a good job of promoting the shows and make sure there is a good mix of vendors and models on display. Some shows have more vendors (actual hobby shops/suppliers) but they do a great job of having a nice mix of product available to buy. The number of models on display seems to be the same, haven't checked actual registrations against previous years but tables were full.
  9. I saw where the overnight snow that fell in Martinsville has postponed the racing until tomorrow. It's been awhile since snow has forced the cancellation of racing for the day, I think the last time was at Bristol. Gives me something to have on while I am working in the home office tomorrow.
  10. That is looking fantastic, great details on the engine and the paint job looks perfect.
  11. There were multiple MPC and then AMT kits that had that body in it. Brian is right, likely from the DOH series given the white plastic, only issues were in various colors.
  12. The 72 Blazer is crude but a better kit than the Ramcharger IMO. The quality of the kits from that era aren't that great but it's what we have to work with. My suggestion is to build them the best you can and use them to improve your skills.
  13. Well, sounds promising, any hints Dave?
  14. Quite a nice looking pair you have there Mate! Love the stock and off roader versions, nicely detailed!
  15. I bought my Mega Million ticket, I think if I win the $468 million, I should have enough to buy Revell!
  16. Hmmmm, I wonder if that means we will get the long bed step side kit?
  17. So it's been "De-Foosed"? Always liked this car, could never bring myself to build one though.
  18. Yes, the first three have sizable amounts owed to them and are smaller in business size than a Paasche, Badger, Iwata and the courts will decide who gets what. The fact that Moebius has a new owner and Tamiya and Testors are part of a larger company should help. All we can do is wait and see. I don't see the end of those businesses, but maybe they market their product differently going forward.
  19. They will most likely settle for a fraction of what they are owed, how much will be determined by the courts. Because this is a chapter 11 bankruptcy, there is a better chance of recovering some money, usually not all. It's possible an investment group buys the whole enchilada and because most of the debt will be erased, it could be a profitable operation. There will be more information in the coming days, hopefully it will be good news!
  20. Still waiting on the Cornbinder pickup! Nice photo etch Dave.
  21. Just looked at the display cases, it's a tie between silver, red, blue & gray at 7 each, followed by black and orange at 6. I do use a lot of black for chassis and detail work. I was going to say gray primer but I use white primer too and those were 5 each!
  22. Anybody have any experience with these products? Quality? Service? Value? Someone pointed out they have a conversion for the 86 El Camino to a stock front end and I am interested, but was wondering what others had experienced.
  23. Sounds like you paid fair market value for them, were they brand new? LOL
  24. I'll pass on both, not my cup of tea.
  25. Absolutely beautiful and a work of art! Your builds always amaze me with the details and accuracy you include in them. Are you still planning to build a wrecker with one of these cabs?
