It must only be on the Canadian version of Discovery as we aren't getting it here in the states Dan. I am sure we will see it, just not today! -

1956 Foose FD 100 Pick Up
mikemodeler replied to YBlock292's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Stunning paint job, looks like it was dipped in the paint! Nice color choice and very clean build. I have a couple of these to build and I don't think they will be black, too many color choices! -
My inventory is finally done,,,,,
mikemodeler replied to smhardesty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great idea and really helpful if you are regularly buying, trading and selling kits. I think we are all probably guilty of buying a kit or two that we already have in the stash, mostly because we didn't have our list handy to check first! I have created excel spreadsheets several times before going to a show with a list of the models I took to sell and vowed to update the list as I sold them. That worked fine until I took my wife with me a couple of times and she was so happy to get rid of models that she didn't mark down what was sold. Yes, I was able to check them off but it would have been much easier if she had been keeping track at the shows! The biggest thing I found when I did my first inventory years ago was that I had TOO MANY models! I am probably down to around 100 now, had over 200 at the beginning of the year, and will trade or sell off some more as I become more focused on what I will really build versus hoarding a bunch of "some day I will build this....." -
This is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt..... The Modelhaus offered resin copies of parts for vehicles no longer in production (promo models from the 50's-70's) and original hand crafted resin bodies and trans kits. While the did "copy" someone else's work, it wasn't currently available items. The folks who purchase items from other resin casters who have taken the time to create a master or original item and then re-cast it themselves and try to pass it off as their own are the ones who come under fire. The issue here is that a poor copy of a quality item can have a negative effect on the original caster. Other than bringing it to the attention of the hobby via forums like this one, there isn't much the original caster can do. In the end, it will drive the quality people out of the casting business as they see their hard work and thin profits disappear when sales drop off.

Not sure how long you are going to be there, but Hurricane Irma might be stopping in at the end of the week. Not much in the way of hobby shops, although there is a Hobby Lobby in the area, not to mention outlet stores!

Just saw where Walter Becker of Steely Dan passed away at age 67. He had some undisclosed ailment and a cause of death was not mentioned, but was believed to be what prevented him from touring with Donald Fagen earlier this year. The band in heaven just got another great one, RIP Walter!

Online retailers
mikemodeler replied to Kardar2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tower Hobbies has more than one location to ship from and if they ship from their West Coast location, it should be there in a couple of days. They often run specials like free shipping or $15 off an order of $50 or more. They have some supplies, worth looking around their website (plastic-models.com). I have ordered from Squadron and Modelroundup with no problems and fast shipping. Haven't tried any of the overseas companies yet nor have I ordered off of eBay, but as others have stated, there are some great companies out there, depending on what you are looking for. -
Sweet, remember a bunch of these back in the early 80's when I worked at a BMW dealer. Might have to save my lunch money for one of these!

Police interior parts needed

Give me a couple of days, I think I have some leftover parts from an old Revell Snap Impala police car. If I can find them, they are yours. -
Wondering if anyone else is thinking about wrecker beds for late model trucks like I am? The Meng F-350 is the closest thing we have to a modern pickup and a couple of issues back, Gregg showed us how to cut the cab down into a single cab and that had me thinking about a modern wrecker bed for it, along with a wheel lift. I have also thought about the upcoming IH 1600 resin kit that Charles Rowley has mastered and how great it would be to have a Holmes wrecker bed for it. The world of medium duty tow trucks has been ignored and along with this resin kit, AMT is re-issuing the Ford Louisville truck that begs for wrecker bed too. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts and if you know of sources for resin kits, please share!

Time is my demon. I have a bench full of started builds, some of them 10 years in the making! I have an idea in my head for building a bunch of wreckers and flatbeds for a fictional towing company, just have to finalize the colors and trucks. I have multiples of almost every wrecker kit offered and even a couple of resin kits too!

Thanks for sharing, looks like a great show (as usual) and sorry I missed it. This show falls on the same weekend as my anniversary and daughter's birthday, hard to get away for it. Some nice models, looks like the Suburban is going to be a hit!

Moebius '70 F-100 4x4
mikemodeler replied to SteveG's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks for posting Steve, that looks great! Did they remove the lower rocker trim from this kit? I agree on the tires, I think Danny at Scenes Unlimited has some nice lugger tires that would look appropriate on this kit. Nice to see this addition to the Moebius line, will look good next to the Revell Bronco for some period correct 4x4's. -
Could not make the show this year, anyone have pictures to share?
