MCRC's 73' El Camino review?
mikemodeler replied to Sergey's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
While I do not have a copy of this kit, I do have some MCRC resin pieces and I can tell you they look just like a regular model kit, they are that good! They take great care to create high quality resin parts and their quality is up there with the best of them. -
New job has me in the Chicago area this week for some peer training and I couldn't be happier to be back here so I can experience some real food and see some old friends. Tonight it was Giordano's Pizza as they have a place across the street from my hotel. Not sure why it is so hard to make a decent pizza in Charlotte, but it tasted sooooo good! Of course there are leftovers, it beats the hotel breakfast! Tomorrow will be a visit to Portillo's- a beef sandwich is in order! I could do without the crappy weather, but then again it could be January instead of April!

Round 2 April 2017 Product Spotlight
mikemodeler replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Nothing there that I need or can't live without. -
Very hard to read this post and not be affected by it. I truly hope for the best for Harry and his family, whatever they decide. I wish there was some way to make the pain and suffering go away for him and let him return to his old self as he was a friend to so many of us here on the forum. I have said many prayers for Harry and his family and will continue to do so as they are needed more than ever. The best we can do at this point is to continue to pray for the comfort of Harry and his family in these most difficult times.

1985 GMC K3500 DONE!
mikemodeler replied to redneckrigger's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very nice! I had the chance to buy an 83 K2500 that looked almost identical to yours but didn't have the cash. It was a low mile truck that had belonged to a friend's father and was the perfect snow plow truck, only problem was it had the typical flaking GM paint job and had some rust on the cab and hood from sitting out. You did a great job with the details, seeing yours makes me want to get a long bed from MAD! -
Looking good so far, should be a beauty when done!

ford long bed
mikemodeler replied to Nick Notarangelo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Look for the Revell F250 kit, it has an 8 foot bed and is fairly close in body style. I do not recall another kit that depicts an early 80's Ford long bed, could be wrong though. -
Fireball Modelwerks Tire Question.
mikemodeler replied to stavanzer's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hard to tell by the limited view in the picture, but it probably was a snow tire like tread considering the year that car was raced. Fireball Modelworks and Scenes Unlimited have similar type tires to what is likely on that car, I suggest you check their websites and also see if you can get a better picture of the tread of the tire. -

TAT KW wrecker
mikemodeler replied to tbill's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I like it Bill, definitely different with the flames but it fits! I have one of these to build, gotta get busy. -
Always thought this "Car" movie franchise was a bit far fetched and I have never sat through any of them, in a theater or on TV. The fact that they are on the 7th installment and probably have a few more in the planning stages says a lot about their audience.

Round 2 AMT 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS "Fifty" Edition
mikemodeler replied to Againmikewins's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I grabbed one at HL yesterday as well and appreciate the review and pics. I will be painting it a different color so the plastic will be a non issue. Might go curbside and use the engine for a restomod build. -
Resin Wrecker Body
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I heard back from Jeff Ballard at MCRC, he does offer the resin wrecker bed kit, $50 plus shipping. He casts to order so it will be a 7 weeks or so before I see it but his stuff is so good, the wait is worth it! -
Resin Wrecker Body
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks Kris, it's all starting to come back to me! I think I had a PM from Jeff at one time about the resin bed, something about not being able to update his website but it was available. I have several of his resin castings, as nice as any plastic mass produced kit! -
I remember seeing a resin wrecker body kit for a 1 ton truck that resembled a 70's era body but can't find it anywhere! Does anyone know who offers that kit? I want to say it was one of the guys from the Detroit resin group but did not see it anywhere on a website so maybe I am imagining things? Thanks in advance, Mike

Went to Hobby Lobby today, used my coupon for 40% off a 68 El Camino. Looked at the clearance models and was tempted, but passed because that money will be going to Harry's Fund instead. He needs the money more than Hobby Lobby does and I surely don't need another model that I won't build!

Nice job on both of them! -
That is very nice and love the colors and details. That body is hard to polish without rubbing through a couple of spots, I KNOW!

That is nice! Really love the color and the stance, tell us more about the wheels please!
