Holmes 750 wrecker plans or instructions
mikemodeler replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Call me lazy, but I really don't have the time to scratch build a wrecker bed and rigging, but would gladly pay for a resin cast one. Either a Holmes 500 or 750 would be great to have and my first thought for a 500 wrecker would be to use the International cab that Charles Rowley mastered! I have a nice resin cast Holmes 440 wrecker bed that will be going behind either a Moebius 70's Ford or a Revell 78 GMC converted to 2WD, sure would love to have a 500 to go with it! -
Good luck with that, they are closed on Sundays.

This sounds promising and hopefully we will see something by 2019! -
Tire size question
mikemodeler replied to Modlbldr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
AMT just released a new set of 5 spokes and wide oval tires, saw them on the Modelroundup page, check them out. As others have said, Fireball has some nice, excellent detailed tires that would work too. -
Revell Bronco vs. Revell Baja Bronco
mikemodeler replied to Mahogany Rush's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you are planning on lifting the Bronco and adding larger tires, I suggest you check out Fireball Modelworks as they have a lift kit and larger tires specifically for this kit. Joseph's stuff is outstanding and exactly what you need! -

Will they ever re-issue it? MPC Dodge truck.
mikemodeler replied to 426 pack's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Rumor has it that when they converted this kit into the monster truck kit they ruined it beyond repair. -
Let's see your Big Rig Wreckers!
mikemodeler replied to Jordan White's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
It is not currently in production, but scan eBay and I am sure someone is selling one. The trouble is that it is probably $200 or more. If you are patient, it could be re-issued once Revell of Germany gets it's US distribution figured out as I think they sell out quickly every time they release them. -
I just picked up the August issue of Musclecar Review and lo and behold, they have an article on a 69 Camaro in burnished brown paint!

I will be watching, have a soft spot for Camaro's 67-69's especially.

Jacked Up GMC/Weekend Warrior CBP
mikemodeler replied to KWT's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nice work. Haven't decided if I am going to go the camo route with mine, thinking maybe hugger orange and a black interior or try my hand at weathering and create a rusty old 4 wheeler. -
Has anyone heard of The Sales Shack?
mikemodeler replied to MikeRousseau's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
$4 a kit shipping is not bad, especially if they are kits not easily found locally or out of production. Paying for shipping is a cost of being in this hobby if you don't have a hobby shop nearby. -
I had a set of those Police Car center caps on my S-10 pickup back in the mid-90s. They were hard to come by and I spent a lot of time taking them off and on as they were easy to steal if someone wanted to. They definitely caught your eye if you knew what you were looking at. The 68 and newer center caps are also sometimes referred to as "Derby Caps" as they sit a bit higher than the 67 disc brake caps.

Modelhaus Shasta w/ 60 Chevy SD resin build thread ..
mikemodeler replied to Dale Gribble's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Maybe you can find a Moebius 69 pickup for it? Not sure of the release of the Moebius 65/66 Ford pickups, but that could work too. Maybe the upcoming 65 El Camino with the camper on the back would look period correct pulling that? Anxious to see your rendition of the camper, maybe that will get me motivated to build mine!
