1/25 AMT 1966 Mustang GT -- Original Annual & Modified Reissue
Can-Con replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'd think that would depend entirely on the box art. Most people, especially in these modern times couldn't tell a '68 Coronet from a '69 Charger anyway. If the Coronet was orange and the Charger any other color, they'd say the Coronet was "the Dukes car", , IF they even know that that was.- 216 replies

Yes. No engine.

Look like they could be American Racing "Hurricane II" s but the number of spokes is wrong. BUT, here's a link to the Vintage Wheel Catalogue" site to look through. You might find something closer in there. https://vintagewheelcatalogs.com/

Thanks Rex. What I meant to say was the one I had, did have all the wiring , light bulbs, etc in the kit. Seems to me you had to wind the wire and assemble the electric motor that went inside the engine block. It did definitly include all the electronics in the kit though.
-
How do they look with the rest of the wheel Ray? Very odd design but it does make it easier to do the detail painting I guess. I had a version of this kit when I was way too young to build it. It was the version that included the electric motor, lights and all the wiring. Anyone know which one that was?

I've been concentrating on the '64 Pontiac but the T-bird is still on the table. I've sprayed a couple more coats of clear on it but haven't polished it out yet.

Kinda reminds me of that old movie from 2002, "The New Guy". [great movie, very funny] If you want instant respect, find the baddest bull in the yard and take him out. ,, only in the movie it didn't work because no one seen him do it or paid attention no matter how many times he tried. ? I'm sure our "New Guy" will amaze us with his builds and ground breaking techniques. We're all going to learn a lot. ??

1/24 Revell Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Targa
Can-Con replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Was just looking over mine yesterday. Very nice kit on par with the Fujimi Enthusiast kits. Looks like it will build up a bit easier though. One problem with mine. The front and rear wheels and tires are slightly different sizes, not only in width but rim size also. Mine came with 3 front tires and 1 rear. Shouldn't be a problem for me as I wasn't planning to use the stock tires anyway. No side detail and pretty narrow. But it would be a problem for someone building it strait from the box. The tires are marked "F" and "R" in the webbing to be removed from the center.- 31 replies

Reccomended clear over enamel
Can-Con replied to hgbben's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tamiya clear gloss acrylic. I used the stuff in the bottle thinned with rubbing alcohol on this one over Testors bottle paints over 20 years ago and the white is still as bright as the day I sprayed it. -
Same here. I've had people argue with me about it even after showing them pics of the horn. They really have to change that on the instruction sheet but I see the actual wiper motor has been removed from the chrome tree of the last couple reissues of the kit that use that chassis.
-
Good point, Terry.
-
OK. I'll buy that but I don't see anywhere that anyone posted a price.
-
More likely this one Chris,
-
No, Only the '89 Indy pace car edition had that engine and it was a "Turbo TransAm", not a GTA . All GTAs are fuel injected small block V8s.
-
The factory aluminum wheels have replaces the Cragars since these pics had been taken. Plus I scored this lot since. So, I'm good for '64s for a while but any '66 through '68 would be very cool. I know only the '67 has been done in resin but one can hope. ?

Here's the look. Lights and grilles are now permanently attached. Sometimes "simple" isn't easy.
-
Yes, exactly, thank you.

The MPC 1968 Olds Toronado Californian - with some modifications
Can-Con replied to Karl LaFong's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks like it was cloned directly from the JoHan Toro engine. Great looking engine. BTW, Keith, your valve covers appear to be upside down. -
Um, no. It's well documented that all the cars were real '70 and '71 convertibles to start off with. But maybe it's this one ?

Only place around here now that sells Testors model paint is Michaels. Last fall the rack was almost empty. Last time I was there was a couple weeks ago but the rack was almost full then. As I understand it, they, like many other companies had just ran low on materials so they had to halt production for a while on most paint lines and the "Extreme Lacquer" sprays were dropped.
