1959 El Camino
iamsuperdan replied to Sam I Am's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Not to hijack your thread, but I saw this at a carshow a couple of weeks ago. I'd say your build is looking pretty darn accurate! -
Dodge Ram VTS

Looking good! -
Yeah, it's pretty fantastic. If I had a kit of a 59 Impala or El Camino, I'd be printing that immediately! I've printed his Jag wire wheels, and they look perfect.

Just found this little Spotify Playlist. Ford have put together a playlist of 121 songs referenced Ford products. If you need some car songs to listen to while building, here you go!
-
For those of you with Spotify, I found this gem this morning. Yes, someone wrote a song called 2015 Ford Transit Minivan. ANd I chuckled.

That is going to be awesome! And although I appreciate seeing free files on Cults, you should totally be charging something for your work. It's worth it!

If I recall correctly, I think GM had been talking mid-engined Corvette since the 60s!

It started raining yesterday evening, and has been pouring all night. Still pouring now, and its supposed to last through the weekend. Should help everyone fighting the wildfires here.

I've actually downloaded this! Haven't printed it yet though. I like the trailer posted but the OP, but $79 for the files? A little much for digital files. More than I'm willing to spend anyway.

Project X is back.....

Yeah, just like an ICE car, the harder you step on the fun pedal, the sooner you have to "fill up." -
Garage 56 Le Mans 2023 Camaro

Very cool project! -
I think part of the problem is something Stu mentioned above. A lot of builders who are a little older, just don't care about the modern, aerodynamic trucks. They want the old Petes and Kenworths, and those kits have kind of been done. Having said that, there are indeed plenty of older, more classic, truck options that have yet to be modelled. And then the cost of licensing vs the demand for trucks. Is a new kit worth it? Probably not, otherwise we probably would have seen them by now.

Project X is back.....

Ha! There's an auto news site I follow, and the comment section on that little project was an absolute dumpster fire. People were incredibly vocal and borderline psychotic about it. So of course, because I like to watch the world burn sometimes... -

Project X is back.....
iamsuperdan replied to Vintage AMT's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In reading the history on this car, I think it's always been cool, regardless of engine or performance. Knowing that this car has always been an experiment, I got a real laugh out of everyone who lost their minds over the EV swap. This iteration is pretty awesome, and the next one will be awesome too. I'm thinking twin-turbo V8 hybrid all-wheel drive. That should melt some tires. And brains. -
Some may recognize the truck from MCM Issue 217!

It's weird, because I've had multiple Jeeps over the years, and that's the only one that gave me problems. Had a 1993 Cherokee Sport. Drove that to 440,000km with almost nothing but routine maintenance. Took a rock at about 350,000km that punctured the radiator, so had to replace that. And the starter went about a week before I sold it. Also had a 2005 TJ Sport, 2008 Wrangler Sahara, 2025 Wrangler Sahara. Combined for about 400,000km and all were completely trouble-free with nothing but routine maintenance.

I dig it, but when was it found in the barn? The sticker on the side window is from a 2019 show, so he's obviously been driving it for a few years. The items in the trunk look staged to me as well. Still, looking at the work that car needs, why not just drive it as is? Sure is cheaper than restoring it.

Colour looks great on there!

Wanted a slump buster, something I could crack out quickly. Figured this would be an excellent kit to choose. Super easy to build, the fit is great, and it looks great when done. As usual, I see room for improvement, but I'm reasonably happy with how this one turned out. I did a little weathering on it, as I wanted something that looked a little used and driven, a little dirty but not too grubby. Paint is Tamiya's TS-23 Light Blue, which is fairly somewhere between Porsche's Riviera Blue and Maritime Blue...my two fav Porsche colours. I resisted the urge to add aftermarket details to this one, so stuck with the seatbelt decals instead of making some.

Yeah, I didn't sweat it too much for the same reason. Can hardly see the caliper through the wheel, let alone the logo. It's too bad you can see them much, because your brakes look great. You actually got some real depth in the brake disc. That, combined with the bolts make for some realism.

lolz. You did the exact same thing I did! The decals for the brake calipers are so small, I didn't notice that I did two of them upside down until I took pics. Maybe we need better magnifying glasses! ?? I'm really liking your colour choices here.
