Porsche Outlaws & Hot Rods

Whatever it is...it's invisible. Methinks you might have forgotten to attach a pic! -
I like where your head is at. Having worked in commercial and fleet vehicle sales for about 12 years now, I have worked with Ram a lot. Finding a Ram 3500 duallie with the gas engine, is like finding a unicorn. In all the years of doing sales, I've only seen 1. A Cummins option just makes sense. Personally, I would have skipped the 3500 altogether, and releases a Ram 5500 chassis cab. Could include the parts for both a 60CA and an 84CA version. Then there would always be the option to release further kits for "finishing" the truck. Flatdeck, service body, cube body, picker crane, etc. Having a conversion kit to turn the 3500 into a 5500 would be pretty substantial. Frame, front & rear suspension, front flares, front bumper, wheels & tires, exhaust, plus all the finishing parts that would be visible with an exposed frame. Still, having said all of that, I think is fantastic that A&N are making these kits available, as no other kit manufacturer seems to care about modern trucks.

I think posting that just to tease us should be a bannable offense! ? The strawberries in stores here right now look nothing like that. Lifeless colours, bland flavour. Need to wait until mid-summer, when I can head out to BC's Okanagan region to get some fresh fruit. Great...now I'm hungry.

Just a reminder to watch where this discussion is going. We've been to the moderator toolbox, and have something ready to use.

Liberty Walk Lamborghini Aventador

This would have been a great build in any colour, but is there anything that isn't improved with Gulf Blue paint? -
F150 Lightning
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very slow progress! I was finishing up a review for the mag, so put this on the backburner for a couple of weeks. Back at it now though. I printed another set of wheels for it, using some new printer settings. The same set, but over the past month or so of printing, I've learned a few things, and these ones came out much better, with layer lines almost invisible. Will get some updated pics and stuff this week. -
Ford vs Ferrari

It's a great movie for sure. -
It cost $172 CDN to fill my truck on Monday. Currently at $1.66/L here. If my math is right, that's $4.89US/gal.

How do YOU decide what to build next?
iamsuperdan replied to 64SS350's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No big plan here. I always have a few builds on the go at one time. When I actually manage to finish a kit or two and clear some room in my work area, I'll have a look at the stash and think about what I want to build next. I try not to have too many on the go at once. -
Personally, I would look for the largest print area I could get. I've been using a Mars 2 Pro for a few months now, and I love it. But a bigger print size would be great. As it is, to print bodies, I can do a truck body on an angle, but car bodies have to be almost vertical, and even then, the longer bodies won't fit. Print quality on the Mars 2 Pro has been excellent. Definitely enough detail for my needs. I've been using water washable resin, as I didn't want to have to keep buying IPA, and then have to dispose of IPA.

Bendpak's website has some detailed drawings that include dimensions. https://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/two-post-lifts/xpr-10s/ Google searching will get you a ton of high res images to work with as well. I had started thinking about this, but then AMT came out with their garage set. After looking at the cost of styrene, and my time, I just went and bought that instead.

Tamiya Ford Mustang GT4 question
iamsuperdan replied to Dpate's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Mustang GT4 is not a fully carbon fibre bodied car. It has a steel unibody, but the doors, trunk lid, roof, hood, rear wing, front splitter, and under tray are carbon fibre. I would assume the front fenders are too, but I could be wrong. -
Working on something different today
iamsuperdan replied to OldTrucker's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Nice! Do you know what brand the kit is? My son and I have built a few from Pitbull Guitars out of Australia. So far, a Jazz Bass, an Explorer 5-string bass, and a 7-string Explorer for me. -
Looks really good. And I think your paint finish adds to the realism. I don't recall ever seeing these with super glossy finishes.

None of ours will either. My daily is too new, so not obsolete...yet. Wifey's Volvo is a 2006, and doesn't have connectivity at all. Well, except for the nav system I guess, but it's an old Navtech based system that requires DVDs. And we haven't updated the maps since using our 1 free update...in 2007. The 99 Tahoe is of course too old to be affected.

Buick Avista Concept

Still a great looking rendering/concept. But this article is 5 years old. -
Hwy 3A from Creston, BC to Kootenay Bay, BC. Then take the ferry to Balfour, then continue on Hwy 3A to Nelson, BC. Beautiful scenery, smooth roads, not a lot of traffic, not a lot of residences. Hwy 4, the Pacific Rim Highway on Vancouver Island, BC. Takes you from Port Alberni to Ucluelet. again, gorgeous scenery, smooth road, and not a lot of traffic...depending on the time of day you roll through. ANd very sparse population along this route.

Container Ship Adrift in Atlantic with...
iamsuperdan replied to TransAmMike's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The was a company I used to use for building service bodies. Had two of these trucks catch fire thanks to the build quality. Two extra batteries in the back and a metal shelf above the batteries that wasn't secured. Hit a bump, shelf falls off and lands on the batteries, connecting the poles. Fire ensues. So two customers with $150k service trucks gone. Plus all the equipment inside the trucks. So mystery fires can happen. As Steve said above though, ICE fires are easier to deal with than EV fires. -

Where do you GET inspiration?
iamsuperdan replied to iBorg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't really read car mags anymore. And I'm not an internet surfer or a facebook guy. Too much nonsense, too many arguments over everything and nothing, so I kind of quit the internet. A few years ago, I was on many forums. Now I'm on this one, and that's it. Instagram is really the only social media I use and has been a great source for images of vehicles and colour combos I like. Have borrowed a lot of great ideas there. Not just from vehicles. Guitars are a great source of inspiration for colour combos. Plus, just what I see every day. If a vehicle grabs my attention I'll take a pic or make a mental note of something. And I just know what I like. I'll look at a kit and just think about what I want to see. -

Really no different than any of the hundreds of other things that could go wrong in the night and start a fire while you sleep.
