  1. Ditto what everyone else said!
  2. Looks really sharp! Exhaust tips I noticed are steel tube?
  3. And yummy.... ? Thank you! Well thank you for saying that. Sometimes I wonder why I post every freaking step, some things are almost unnoticeable when it's finished. Aw shucks man, that's what I think on your builds too. ? I started October 1, 2019, finished March 11, over 186 hours. Have one little detail to add, all over the front. ????
  4. I know right? But have some more things to do, such as when researching for the oil filter lines, the kit's filter just isn't correct, need to scratch-build a whole new unit. Doing this is bringing back memories of owning the '48, doing an oil change was messy, had to sacrifice numerous rags to soak up the oil in the can. Charming that these were optional, my pickup didn't have one, got it along with a bunch of other parts from a dude in town who had a '41 pickup for a daily driver. Just thought I ought to look at my photos on Flickr, took one while driving, knowing I was going to let it go. Now I see an oil pressure gauge should be added. ? Another thing I *should* add, is the stainless window frame, I replaced a painted frame because the dude had one.
  5. I saw that on Fakebook, forgot to figure out how to share, thanks JC. I'm amazed at how much effort to redo everything, such as the taillights.
  6. Videos such as this are an awesome resource, thanks for sharing. There was an orange one that was also found, that would be what I build someday, in the "found" state, yes all grimy because I sort of hate doing shiny paint jobs. ? Note the turn signals on this example. Ok Dann, I know life gets in the way, wish you the best my freind.
  7. Yep, that qualifies as KILLER, topic can be closed own now because I'm jealous. ? I'm betting the 1/12 Tamiya.
  8. ?What Peter said. The more the word gets out, the more likely someone will take the plunge.
  9. Wet-sanded one more time, then sprayed another Dullcoat with Africa Korps dust. Received the chromed dash and door handles, painting the dash will be next. I *have to* try out the teeny tiny toggle switches, the windshield wiper switch and heater fan had switches above the radio.
  10. DONE! Since we are getting rain all week, might be awhile before taking official photos with the diorama. So here she is, fresh on (not off) the bench! ??
  11. Couldn't wait..... the wheel spinners were some of the re-chromed parts, and they got tiny prancing horse emblems put on. Also made spacers from steel tube, that happened to friction fit inside the wheels perfectly. Next was to flat spot the tires. Oh yea, after all this, need valve stems (since the box art shows them). Drill size was tested for the wire, so they are friction fit in to avoid goobering with glue, pushed in with the wood block. After installing the wheels, and gluing on the spinners, last part to detail was the mirror, which was also re-chromed. The mirror face is salvaged LCD camera screen, scribed first with a new blade in a circle template, cut all the way with scissors. Glued on with the Testors canopy glue, I'm digging that glue! Really, the last parts glued in did not come with the kit. ?
  12. Chromed parts came back today! Now I have a good excuse to resume on this project. ?
  13. Okay, got the chromed parts back today! ? I could have polished the back bumper better, but still beats the original thing.
  14. Thanks for the contribution to my topic. I think you would be! Thank you too for your contribution. And thank you, it worked! ? Pleased to report, received today! He even took a picture to explain that I did not use enough silicon caulking to attach the sprues. Turn around was better than expected, a couple days over one month.
  15. Impressed with how clean your build is! Like the windshield mounting system, I try to work out something on some builds, covers some sins of the original kit, and adds a bunch of eye candy where it's missing. I have a VW Bus that needs it, multiple times, yikes.
  16. If I didn't know anything, would be convinced the factory built these, looking excellent.
  17. The tailgate reminds me of how Koningsegg does their doors, which is something I *have to* try out someday. Looking good!
  18. Didn't come out right..... I was recovering from a divorce. I had over 60 songs under my belt, Rush - Red Barchetta is a favorite. Anyway, glad to be out of that lifestyle, for sure.
  19. ? It's an important part of the Canopy Express, I'm sure it's a rare part unto itself. I scratch-built the whole unit. ?
  20. So I'm not the only one! ?? Just a few years ago, decided to stop playing pool tournaments, and torturing songs. There was a spell that I was only being a barfly, no model building. So now I can stay up until 2AM, and not feel like ? the next day. Seem to have money to buy whatever models I want now, funny how that worked. I've switched other priorities too, won't divulge in public, but this hobby makes me happy, think well being is super important.
  21. ? I take it, this is not a "box stock" build. ? Very nice! If I ever get really ambitious, want to do the Futureliner as an RV, could learn a few things from you.
  22. Have a very short list of tasks, very good chance. The only problem could be not getting the chrome plating parts back in time, since the only place in the USA is swamped. My hope of course is YES! This project will proudly display the special plates DSC is producing.
  23. Sounds plausible. ? All it would take is backing up into something too. Matter of fact, was thinking of fabricating a simple step, with diamond plate, a good shin banger. Wet-sanded the body, and then sprayed Dullcoat with Africa Korps dust again. Almost lost a tailgate latch, good thing I did it over a big bowl!
