My kind of ancient thread resurrection, there are new members who could contribute. All the cop parts on the Viper DPS pursuit: All the boat parts on the Oldsboatbile: Mixed a Ford 5.0 with a Tamiya Miata. Shocks units made from cheap lighter valves, and made anti-sway bars too (among many other things): Kit-bashed the Tamiya Honda Civic with the Revell Integra = Sintegra: Corian used to convert a sedan into the Mercedes 170V Roadster, including the rumble seat: Kit-bash of old Monogram Ferrari 275P with new Revell Ferrari Modena = Mongrel: Kit-bash of old Monogram Porsche 904, with Monogram Porsche Indy = Porndy: Complete turbo plumbing, parts missing on the transkit of the Tamiya Porsche 959 and Modeling Master resin Paris-Dakar: The last things made from scratch yesterday, tools:

Amazing save, that's the spirit of this thread! I would have totally overlooked that model.

I misspoke earlier, this project was not a glue bomb, the body had been brush painted yellow, and the engine was missing. I had a 427 left over from a project last century, learned it makes a huge difference when kit-bashing a 1/24 scale engine with a 1/25 scale car!

Big Red. Never knew about this.

That's so quaint! Shame we couldn't hear it run. Are any semis that tall? Looks like a Prevost tourbus, but the driver sits much lower. Reminds me of the GM Futureliner. Here is a turbine-powered motorcycle, heard it start up. -

Had to check out what you're up too, could always learn something, and this is a great lesson! -
? Thanks, and good to know. ? Got the missing tools done, but clients interrupted my flow (MLK is a holiday for everyone isn't it?) so didn't get to the bag. ? First up, part of the jack: After painting jack parts dark blue, made some other tools that appear to be gear pullers: Made the other hammer from sprue, then painted those parts semi-gloss black with a little steel: The Fujimi Daytona tools also had an oil filter wrench (should scrape and repaint), which I used elsewhere, so made a new one, plus the other hammer that has a real Alder wood handle with real wood varnish, some rods made from shirt pins, round yellow/black thing is a container for spare bulbs and fuses, a tiny tool no clue what it is. The long wrench is guitar string wire, each end is wire insulation, smaller wire stuck through, socket is reject from the previous part, super-glued, then painted silver. Gear puller (?) tools, to make the threads, the last step was to use the knife, and match the count of 5.5 threads per millimeter, to the perfect 825 RPM on the variable speed drill, and move at exactly the correct rate of speed. Uh huh..... ? The red thing is for the emergency triangle, need to make, and make a fan belt, then find the wine bottle foil......

Oh, thanks for noticing, forgot to say that I sprinkled baking soda on the wet paint. When I weather everything, was hoping the Dullcoat/dust would subdue the white crystals.

Appreciate it! ? Today on the list is the tool bag. All I wanted to know is the shade of blue for the jack. Found one on eBay for $22,500 ?, found this blog article about one on auction that sold for *only* $18,000. Different color hammers, and other items, so I should be given leeway. ?

Revell Tri Chevy kitbash ?
89AKurt replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I owned a real '57 4 door wagon last century, and have a few kits in the stash. Be careful about mixing, most people think the only change was lights and bumpers, but the cowls are different. Dash is different too. I'm going off fading memory, for a model it might not be a big deal. All I really know, not a simple swap of bumpers. Future project: -
Source for 1/25 13 inch rims and tires
89AKurt replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a bunch of wheels/tires that could work. Tamiya Mazda Miata factory wheels are sort of like Minilites. Have aftermarket wheel/tires too, but will only advise with those. Measure the outside diameter of the tire for a target size, I could get back to you. Looks like a fun project, putting a modern engine in would be cool. -
Had to ask, I've overlooked searching prior to posting too. ? I was surprised too how few are built on this forum. It could use a bunch of scratch-built improvements, if you really are doing a Grand Sport version with a modern engine, that would be wicked cool! Careful with air cleaner to window clearance, there isn't any. And thanks, it was a last second decision on which nail 'polish' to use.

Started on the interior. Seems to be snowballing...... Amusing to see there is detail on the ceiling, which is something that's never done now. I think it's different than base level, but I'm not changing anything. There are also sun visors. Then the glass goes over it. ? Will cut that apart with the hot-wire. Dash is too low for my taste, needs to be raised over 1/16". The Green Barge did not have the 4 lower gauges, and the glovebox was not textured. I'm entertaining the idea of opening the glovebox, since it's missing the upper edge anyway. There is a heater box under the dash that could be added. The round vents on the ends, and top of dash could use detail. Cut the interior apart with the hot-wire. The plastic is super thick! Ground off the molded on pedals. The steel door panels could probably use the custom grill for the ribbed part. The floor goes to the back of the cab, am planning to glue on a ledge in the cab behind the seat. Anyone want those seats? The chassis has a noticeable warp, might have to run hot water over it and bend.

Good, hard to tell in pictures, but I'm happy. I know right? ?☄️?? Because these are so rare, that would be the worst. Wait a few days, right..... Sprayed two sessions, using House Of Color clear, which requires 200% thinner! I have lint specks, I know there will be tiny blemishes after polishing out, but whenever I **** with something to "fix" it, I **** it up even more. The clear brings out the color really well. ?

Um.... I just built this, did you search before posting? Aerovette by Revell/Monogram and Revell's Aerovette concept car
-
That's Revell for you. How many times have I seen attachment points in the chrome where you see it, when it could have been behind the part. Cool subject, I have the Italeri kit of this. Look forward to watching.

Wound guitar string is very stiff! If you thought you bent it enough, glue in, it could spring out of place. I just used it for an oil cooler. Each manufacturer has different design harness hardware, is that what you're talking about?

I think I enjoy restorations the most
89AKurt replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thought everyone who did this was crazy, but I've done a few now, and appreciate what it takes to do a decent job. The subject is usually crude by today's standards, but with modern parts, glue, paint, etc. it could come out better than last century. -

All I wanted to do... is make a distributor. ? Used the cordless drill on high speed, with the Dremel to rough out. Read a tutorial yesterday about plug wires. Used Tamyia hollow tubing for the ends, instead of wire insulation. Did use white wire insulation at the plug end. Made loom holders from aluminum printing plate. Here is the cluttered bench with materials and tools used: Had to glue the headers on, painted 'leather' and sprinkled baking soda on it. Made generic accessory brackets from the same aluminum, added some photo-etch nuts just because I have them. Also made a thermostat housing, which aims the hose out correctly (copper wire is temporary), the kit hose is wrong. Also turned the vacuum advance thingie, and oil filler cap. Put two clamps on the distributor made from aluminum plate. The last loom part is still on the plate. Used the drill press to turn the 1 ton brake booster out of Corian. Roughed out with the Dremel, used a worn #11 blade, file, sandpaper, steel wool. Airbrushed silver and set aside for much later. Does anyone *really* like doing plugs wires? ? Even though it's on a stand, practically worn the paint off. There is half-baked construction, but good enough for government work. Good thing the wires are asbestos. ? Even though the rest of the engine bay, and especially the chassis, is hardly accurate or detailed, figured having the dolled up engine would juice up the build. It was also rehearsal for the V-12 on the other project.

You are more accurate than you think! I did order yellow wire, among other things this week. ? Open grills, seeing how the Chinese are doing military kits, should be cake. Thanks!
