  1. That’s how I made this turn signal knob. I then put it in a pin vise in my drill and shaped it a bit.
  2. Yeah, I like it too! And you probably don’t see many of these getting sectioned.
  3. I’m guessing the Mud Slinger would be 1984 (at least the packaging), since it advertises a chance to win an ‘84 Corvette? The only one I have ever come across unfortunately is the Mountain Goat.
  4. Here is a sample of the effect of four different colour primers. The paint is Tamiya LP-46 Pure Metallic Red. All were sprayed with equal coats.
  5. I remember thinking when anti-Iock brakes came out, that they wouldn’t stop as quickly as an experienced driver could without them, but I think if you need all the newer “safety” features to get where you’re going safely...you should be taking the bus. I do like the backup camera on my truck however.
  6. I did think that it would be a nice feature for someone who was handicapped as I was posting this. There was nobody like that in the commercial though. I am currently watching a series called “Next” about A.I. that has become self aware....it is a frightening possibility. One that I hope doesn’t happen in my lifetime...or ever.
  7. Even if he shut it down, his crew-chief would have to stick a bullhorn in his ear after he listened to those pipes for a few laps.
  8. Whoever retouched the photo has no better skills than the builder, or....maybe it was fine before the retoucher got ahold of it.
  9. I’ve never sanded an entire body before primer. I do however scrub them with a toothbrush and comet which scuffs it lightly. Then I follow up with dawn dish soap and water.
  10. I was planning on painting the entire Jeepster with the LP-20 light gunmetal, but after spraying the interior it looked way to shiny and sparkly. I gave the interior a coat of flat clear to tone it down a little.? I had some TS-60 pearl green left over and thought it would look alright since it’s somewhat close to a factory color. The windshield supplied in the kit is way too thick and interferes with the dash when the tub is tucked up into place. I cut a new one out of .015 clear sheet. I also upgraded the lump on the firewall to a Corvette master cylinder and booster.
  11. Tamiya does make bottled primers, but these ones say to thin with lacquer thinner for spraying. Tamiya also makes an acrylic retarder which may help when spraying the acrylic paints.
  12. I can’t help much with different primers. I pretty much always decant the Tamiya aerosol primers and spray them. Any of the Tamiya clears can be sprayed over the colour coat. I use XF-86 flat clear over gloss black to simulate a vinyl roof.
  13. Beautiful job on this. I like how the flames fade in.
  14. I just saw an advertisement on the tube for a new kitchen faucet. It can be paired with google or alexis and all you have to do is tell it to fill the dog’s bowl and it will dispense the proper amount and temperature of water desired. How lazy can people become? This relentless push of technology into every facet (pun intended?) of life is going to bite us in the butt. Never mind the pursuit of artificial intelligence!
  15. Thanks for that link Jon. And thanks to all for the pics of the commercial trucks. Most of the larger company owned trucks were scrapped or never saw the same level of preservation that personally owned vehicles did. They were simply tools to do a job, with no sentimental attachment to them...discarded when no longer useful.☹️
  16. These are my new favourite clamps/tweezers!! ? They are great for hanging onto small parts for sanding. The spring holds the parts so you don’t drop them, and are easily pinched tighter so the parts don’t move around while sanding or filing. ?
  17. This is sure a beauty! https://www.carbuffnetwork.com/project/1949-mercury-coupe-merrodder/
  18. The chrome on this kit LOOKS beautiful. Very little flash and No details hidden...likely because of no intermediate adhesion layer. It didn’t look too bad (even though I overlapped the undamaged area too much) and I was going to use it, but then I rubbed through it on the fins while giving it a second blackwash. Oh well, it’s in the pond. I think I will paint it and if Revell is sending me a replacement, I’ll wait and see which I like better.
  19. Thanks for the link Luc!? I e-mailed them a picture. We’ll see what they say. It’s in the purple pond now....so time to get back on my other projects.
  20. Mine was not broken thankfully. I don’t think BMF would wrap around the curves without wrinkles. The Molotow I used is visible, but not too bad. I think I will leave it alone. The only other option I see is paint.
  21. Glad it worked out.?
  22. I haven’t taken mine apart, but if you are worried about it, try this. Once you have cracked the screw (A-23A) loose, put the airbrush and your hand onto a clear plastic bag (like a bread bag?) and secure it around your wrist with a rubber band. Then unscrew it completely and if it gets away it will stay inside the bag. Good luck.
  23. Thanks to whoever discovered the trick and thank you for passing it along. Exactly what I did. And filed the tips flush. One leg could even be cut shorter for special applications if needed.
  24. It is Tamiya...the chrome is not adhered well to the styrene. Like Jim said, there doesn’t seem to be a layer between the chrome and the plastic.?
