This was my first car (no, that’s not me). I won it in cereal box contest. I may have driven my Dad’s ‘62 or ‘63 chevys, but can’t recall for sure. I took my drivers test in his ‘68 Biscayne, 4 door, 6 cyl, 3 in the tree.

Custom wheel hoops made on Taig mini-lathe

That is some mighty fine work! I have a cheap Chinese one. I have very little experience with it, but it sure has come in handy more than once. -
What irked me today? Looky Lou’s.! Not on this site so much, but another non-model forum I am on. A thread started last year has 8,124 views and only six reply’s....three of which are mine in the last couple weeks. Do 8,118 people have nothing better to do? I must admit, I do a fair bit of browsing on here without responding, mostly because I don’t have the time to respond to every thread that I’d like to. But out of 8,118 people(assuming one look per) you would think someone would have something to say.? Edit: And sometimes if I have nothing good to say, I just move on.?

What's the point of the old threads?

To the OP and others (no offence meant)...what if they passed a law that any old car that could not be started and driven had to be crushed !! ??? -

Thank You David for taking the time and effort to do that for all of us.? -

How about just ignoring them if they bother you? I agree it is frustrating when researching a topic or technique to find photos missing. Would deleting any posts past a certain age be limited to ones with pics missing, and what if the text is still very helpful? As long as server space isn’t a concern I wouldn’t fret about it. -
Once your cutting mat gets so hacked up that you need a new one, don’t toss the old one out. Instead cut it into smaller chunks and use it as a drilling mat. It will make your new one last longer.?

One thing I try to remember to do is use an airhose set at low pressure to blow all the dust off immediately before airbrushing. It is amazing how the paint or primer makes lint or dust specs appear. You can also use a can of compressed air available at any office supply store.

I haven’t seen it done this way either. I have been drilling individual holes for each wire. Ima gonna try it on the next one. The first few engines I wired with the proper firing order. Now I just alternate every second wire goes to one bank....nobody but a picky contest judge would even check.?

That is very nice Ken! I like it lots!?

Beautiful work on that brass! Looks like a fair bit of engineering went into it.? -

Found a good way to strip the peeling decals off my 5th wheel. Warm slightly with a heat gun and scrape them off with these plastic scraper blades. It gets the decal and 95% of the glue off. Gunwash on a rag will take the remainder off.

First Kit in 20 Years
NOBLNG replied to bluestringer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Is that the Revell of Germany kit in the flat box? I have opened mine a couple times and put it back. I find the instructions a little intimidating. You can always put it on hold and start another simpler kit. Get a kit that you’re not in love with so it won’t bother you as much if you mess up a bit.? -
No kit available of the Willys, only a diecast stake box....so I cast one.? Link to my long, slow build. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/156181-‘54-willys-pu/

This 1/24 diecast would be a better starting point, as it is a JL. Unfortunately it is a truck, but it has the correct grill, fenders, hood, taillights and the four doors. I am surprised with the popularity of the new(er) 4 door jeeps that no company has kitted them??? https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B08DL94PHL/rocketfin-20

You’ve got your work cut out for you! That kit is a TJ body style (turn signals in the metal fenders). After that body style came the JK and JKU(4 door), then came the JL which is what a 2020 would be...or JLU? There are as far as I know, minor differences between the JK and JL. This kit may be a better starting point. I have messed with the Revell kit but have not seen the Meng kit so I don’t know how detailed it is. Good Luck!
