Nice work on this so far. I am thinking of starting on mine soon and you’ve given me some great ideas. Thanks! -
Welcome to the forums. Nice start on these. That roof joint on the ‘36 is a PITA. I mixed up some sprue glue to strengthen the joint and blend it on mine. Here’s some more inspiration. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/150783-amt-‘36-ford-coupe/

I added some disc brakes that I made from .025 aluminum and styrene sheet. I got these nice wheels and tires from Scenes Unlimited. They came with full wheel backs but I didn’t want to block them off. So I drilled the outers to fit my coat hanger axle shafts and made new inner rings from some pvc pipe. The tires fit a little loose on the rims so i added a .010 shim. -

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. The body is now glued to the frame. It wobbled pretty bad, so I had to cut through a few of the mounts. I will re-shim them once the new wheels are mounted and it sits on all fours. I added the fuel filler tube that runs through the interior and was going to add one below also, but the body mount is in the way for them to line up...oh well. ? I built a new license plate light/mount and also built new tail light and reverse light lens from red sprue and a plastic bottle cap. The lens in the kit were not big enough for the frames and would have put the backup lights at the bottom, which is incorrect. -
New Kits of Old Subjects from Round2

I too am surprised it hasn’t been kitted. Besides the CJ, it probably had the longest production run of any Jeep vehicle. I had a stock ‘94 and loved it. I would definitely buy the kit. -

That dash looks beautiful! -
Give me a diablo sandwich, a Dr. Pepper, and make it quick, I'm in a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH hurry.

Is this the Monogram kit? I have one that I have not opened, but heard there were some issues with it?

Jeepster Kits -- Is This All Of Them?
NOBLNG replied to Tom Geiger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was wondering about that too. Those first two pictures are convertible soft tops, not hard tops. Here is a pic of my ‘71 that shows the drip rails and hatch well. -
So this rear view mirror had a nice ejector pin mark right on the face of it. So I found the perfect reflective treatment for it after smoothing the surface a bit...and I have an endless supply.
-
That’s how I made this turn signal knob. I then put it in a pin vise in my drill and shaped it a bit.
-
Yeah, I like it too! And you probably don’t see many of these getting sectioned.

I’m guessing the Mud Slinger would be 1984 (at least the packaging), since it advertises a chance to win an ‘84 Corvette? The only one I have ever come across unfortunately is the Mountain Goat. -
Here is a sample of the effect of four different colour primers. The paint is Tamiya LP-46 Pure Metallic Red. All were sprayed with equal coats.

can be nice

I remember thinking when anti-Iock brakes came out, that they wouldn’t stop as quickly as an experienced driver could without them, but I think if you need all the newer “safety” features to get where you’re going safely...you should be taking the bus. I do like the backup camera on my truck however.
-
I did think that it would be a nice feature for someone who was handicapped as I was posting this. There was nobody like that in the commercial though. I am currently watching a series called “Next” about A.I. that has become self aware....it is a frightening possibility. One that I hope doesn’t happen in my lifetime...or ever.

Even if he shut it down, his crew-chief would have to stick a bullhorn in his ear after he listened to those pipes for a few laps.

Whoever retouched the photo has no better skills than the builder, or....maybe it was fine before the retoucher got ahold of it.

I’ve never sanded an entire body before primer. I do however scrub them with a toothbrush and comet which scuffs it lightly. Then I follow up with dawn dish soap and water.

TJeepster
NOBLNG replied to NOBLNG's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I was planning on painting the entire Jeepster with the LP-20 light gunmetal, but after spraying the interior it looked way to shiny and sparkly. I gave the interior a coat of flat clear to tone it down a little.? I had some TS-60 pearl green left over and thought it would look alright since it’s somewhat close to a factory color. The windshield supplied in the kit is way too thick and interferes with the dash when the tub is tucked up into place. I cut a new one out of .015 clear sheet. I also upgraded the lump on the firewall to a Corvette master cylinder and booster. -

Tamiya does make bottled primers, but these ones say to thin with lacquer thinner for spraying. Tamiya also makes an acrylic retarder which may help when spraying the acrylic paints.
