Nice! I like the weathering. -
I wasn’t going to do build thread on this one but then I figured this truck section could use some more traffic. This kit has some scale issues with the engine and trans which I may just ignore. The kit tires are nice, but way too small in my mind, and the optional chrome rims are mismatched with six lugs on the fronts and five on the rears. The differentials are also out of scale...as in Puny! So some wheel and axle upgrades are on the list. I think the worst part of this kit is the poor interface between the interior tub/floorpan and the firewall and body sides, so I would like to improve that a bit. As always, comments or criticisms welcome. Stock kit tires with too much lift for them. Wheels and tires from the Revell Jeep Rubicon kit. Wheels and tires from the MPC Mount’n Goat Jeep Commando kit. HUGE gap all around the interior tub/floor pan and the firewall/body sides! ?

If you had a better background in the photos, I’d swear that thing was real! -

Yes, I am not a fan either of daily drivers. Unfortunately the wind tunnel has a big say in the design of the newer cars. -

Moebius F-100 wheel base change

Thanks for the offer Kris, but I have the urge lately to cut stuff up, and I kind of like the extra short box look. -

Thanks Brian. This was really my first attempt at kit bashing and scratch building. I learned a lot on this project. Thanks Mark Thanks Chris. Thanks David. It seems no single kit has all the good stuff so... Thanks Larry. Thanks Mike. They are fairly close to the same size and shape, so it worked out fairly easy. -
Super nice work!

I haven’t decided if I’m going to chop this up yet. But if I do I think I will bob it a little. Thanks to whoever put his nice side profile pic on the web. I like the second and third pics.? -

This is a kit bash of the MPC Mount’n Goat kit and the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (TJ) by Revell. I scratch built the suspension, winch and other tidbits, and swapped in a Buick 350, TH400 trans and NP205 transfer case. Differentials are from a full size Ford 1/2 ton. Wheels and tires are from Scenes Unlimited. All comments welcome...Thanks for looking. Build thread here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/150899-tjeepster/

Nice clean builds on all. The weathering on the blue Ford is really nicely done. -

Great work on this! Can’t wait to see it in paint. What ever happened to the AMT Vicky you were working on? -
Moebius F-100 wheel base change
NOBLNG replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I know that would be the easiest way, but if it’s just a matter of shortening the box in two spots and the frame, it shouldn’t be too difficult? I see Moebius makes one (1970) in 2wd short box. This would likely be the best donor I imagine if I decide to go that route?
