  1. I just tried a little sample. I think this is bigger than you require but the technique might work. I made this from two pieces of 1/16”x 3/16” filed to a wedge (this could be 1 piece but I didn’t have the right thickness) and a piece of 1/8” half round.
  2. Nice colour. I love these cars!
  3. Welcome back. Very cool looking project!
  4. I like it! That colour would definitely suit the time period I believe.
  5. Thanks. It is Tamiya LP-46 pure metallic red lacquer over red oxide primer.
  6. I wanted to carpet the wheelwells also and didn’t think it would conform well. Also, it is a little light to go with a black interior. With the side windows installed, you really can’t see the interior very well. I may use the carpet on something else?
  7. Yes, It is basically a curb side kit. There is no topside to the engine.

    Revell '64 GTO

Really nice! I have a monogram’64 GTO I am slowly working on. I hope mine turns out this well.
  9. This was a nice kit to build. The rear wheels wouldn’t sit straight and the side marker lights could have been filed down a bit. Other than that it went together very well.
  10. This one is done now. Paint is Tamiya LP-46 (lacquer) not X-46 as I stated in my first post.
  11. Thanks Dennis. I will look for some tubing for this trick. Drilling a hole straight down the solid styrene, even a little ways, is tough. I do need a double cardan joint at the top so I will check all my other 4x4 kits to see if any have one that looks better than my scratch job!?
  12. Nicely done. This is a great tip. That is one thing that bothers me in kits is the small diameter rod items like mirror brackets gear shifters and shock absorbers that can’t be accurately reproduced in styrene.?
  13. Yes, and it’s darn hard to pick out something over the internet! Descriptions are sometimes vague at best and the scale of items is a guess. Re: round sanding sticks...seems to me that I have seen long round erasers that fit in a mechanical pencil that you could glue sandpaper to. Or maybe a small glue stick could be sharpened to a point. To get a sandpaper pattern, wrap masking tape around the cone of your stick slit it and use it for a pattern.
  14. I added the lip up along the fenders for the hood to sit over and with a little trimming, managed to get the Commando inner fenders to fit. I didn’t like the rear driveline angle, so I cut and rotated the rear diff, and fabbed a new driveshaft. For a first attempt it came out looking better than I expected! That said, I may just re-do them, now that I have a better idea how.
  15. Really nice! Absolutely super Job on the weathering.

  17. Very nice clean hotrod!
  18. Nicely done.
  19. I like ‘em all! ?
  20. Very nice! That paint almost has a hammer tone look to it. I like it.
  21. Definitely worth saving.??
  22. Could you use a straight pin or an exacto blade to scratch through the paint down to the primer to simulate a crack?
