I’ve filed off the tiny bumps that were the frame locating pins and replaced them with .050 styrene pins. Fabbed up some body support channels along with a rear cross member and mounts. I also added another scale inch (.040”) of lift and I can easily add more later if needed. I trimmed a tad too much out of the wheel-wells, so I have to add that back and re trim them. I also removed the fuel tank. I will either move it rearward to line up better with the filler cap or fab a custom one? -

Some 4x4 guys would stack hockey pucks on top of the mounts to get a body lift.? -

The TJ is actually a little shorter wheelbase, but I am going to have to stretch the frame to get the front wheels centered in the wheelwells. I’ve had to give it a scale 2” body lift to clear the frame rails over the rear axle. This was an easy fix using the old hockey puck trick.? -

Just came across this thread recently. Fantastic job so far. I love the colour and those wheels look REALLY sharp! -

I am also putting the TJ front clip on since I really despise the look of that AMC bullnose front end. It shouldn’t be too hard to blend despite a slight difference in width. I braced the front clip before removing it as I want to open the hood also. The Revell kit did not have an opening hood or an engine. I’m not sure what engine I’ll use yet. Maybe the Hemi or 5.0 litre from a ‘32 Ford kit? Definitely not the V6 from the Commando! -
This one has been cooking in my brain for awhile now. I have a ‘71 Jeepster Commando, and wanted to replicate it. But I figure I will go a little wilder with this one than I did on my 1:1. I was going to use the Commando frame, but the TJ drivetrain is much beefier looking and nearly the same wheelbase. Thoughts or insights welcome.

I had to drill out the rear rotors slightly and glue the rear wheels solid. I could live with a little negative camber, but they just would not sit straight! Fronts went on fine. The decals are all on, trim is painted and it is ready for clear as soon as the decals and tail light paint is dry. I want to decant some Testors clear lacquer to airbrush onto the wing before glueing it on. I think it would be tough to get a nice coat inside it after it’s in place.

Excellent job melding these two. It works for me!

Ever buy kits...just to "Pirate" parts?
NOBLNG replied to Southern Fried's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes, but only three. Two I bought because I want to meld them into one. And the other for parts to replicate my 1:1 truck. -
How in the world would you steer that thing? Oh...”Steering is accomplished by handlebars which control a sideways motion of the drive belt.” You’re not doing any slalom courses with that!

Well I’m going to get out of the house today. I’ve got a couple hours of snow blowing at least. Hah! Wednesday I was sitting on the deck enjoying a Corona. My buddy was nice enough to drop a couple cases off on my doorstep after we got home.

The wife and I are on day 13 of the mandatory two week quarantine after returning from Mexico. I’ve been in the basement mostly working on models. She’s been reading and playing games on her i-pad. We just got a dump of 6” or so of snow and the temps have dropped. This should help to keep some folks inside. The weather was previously nice and all the snow had disappeared. This snow is not going to help the flood situation at all. Hope for a slow melt now! Stay safe everyone! Greg.

Help chopping a 36 3 window

Here is another of Bill's chops. Hi wish you would finish these Bill so I can copy them. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/127086-split-personality-chopped-34-ford-3-window-update-ifs-ford-9-etc/ -
This pic is from the instructions for the 392 hemi in the Revell ‘32 Ford. They also show the heads installed in side out, as in they should be flipped over end for end. Thankfully I realized it before I glued them on!

Nice write up Steve. This stuff does a nice job on contoured surfaces. It also comes in 3000 grit, which is what you would want. What is the advantage of a panel scriber over the backside of a blade? Different contour?

Help chopping a 36 3 window
NOBLNG replied to stitchdup's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
HaHa, I was just researching this last night because I am contemplating do it on my '36 five window. I'm not sure how chopping a 3 and 5 window would differ, but I found this thread which will be my inspiration. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/127121-while-were-at-it-a-chopped-34-5-window-too-mo-better-nov6/
