  1. Is it an addiction? Is breathing air and wishing for a drink of water an addiction? My solution is having a large off site storage locker! Cheers Misha
  2. Great to see your work Jason. Good selection of muscle car subjects, also black is one of the tougher finishes. Congrats on persevering in getting it right! Cheers Misha
  3. Yesterday made it into Victoria and dropped by the local hobby shop there. While browsing the shelves came upon my most desired 1:1scale 911, if I had the close to 600,000 (my second choice would be a 912). A fresh sheet of BMF and I was out the door. Was good to see the staff after many months. Also dropped by fellow SPAM modeller Phil’s home to pick up the contest annual he had saved for me and had a chance to view his latest build, the Jim Hall Camaro. It’s even more amazing in person, plus all the references Phil has accumulated was impressive. Thanks Phil. The Fujimi kit has been on my radar and I was happy to find this recent release. Upon looking at the instruction sheet it appears to be an Enthusiast version which I was hoping for. Yet the EM title wasn’t evident anywhere. Beautiful kit! Also the contest annual covers our local event coinciding with Deuce Days in the Pacific Nor’West. Cheers Misha
  4. Your build has really brightened up my day! Beautiful execution on the body details, decal application and detail painting is perfect. The under hood detail is also a stunner, great use of paint as was mentioned. Rag tops are a great way to feature interiors and your white with black stands out very nicely. Congrats Ludwig on a fabulous build, cheers Misha
  5. Welcome Jason, looking forward to seeing your builds. Always glad to see another Canuck on board. Cheers Misha
  6. Really like how this turned out Dave, the pair looks great. Have always admired the early GTs for their Ford paint scheme on a clean body shape. As a kid remember seeing early b&w photos, at the time a radical design. Also being at the height of slot car racing having a Cox Ford GT was truly a mark! Would the molds still exist and where one wonders? Congrats on the build, cheers Misha
  7. Very smooth rendition Jim, I like the silhouette a lot more than the awkward top in the kit. Great engine too. Cheers Misha
  8. My most recent Deuce build was the Red Hot Phaeton using the vintage AMT kit combined with R/M front suspension and small block Ford engine. The interior was modified with new door panels, seats, and carpeting. A working scratch built luggage rack was added and the canvas top detailed underneath with straps and frame. The chassis was chromed and features the front suspension from R/M while the rear has split wishbones. A scratch built tranny cooler was added, along with brake lines. Overall a very satisfying build! Cheers Misha
  9. Great work on the interior mods TJ, it sure makes a difference in comparison to the original kit version. I’ve been tackling a few of the early kits with sparse interiors and along with the right tools, razor and PE saws it becomes rather easy. Congrats on your build, cheers Misha
  10. That is a beautiful build Phil! Your research and subsequent attention to getting the details right really stands out. A pleasure to keep examining your photos for all those added touches. For anyone who hasn’t checked out the WIP thread it is well worth while, especially if you’re a Trans Am or Jim Hall enthsiast. Cheers Misha
  11. As a Canuck living off the west coast on Vancouver Island, I’d like to welcome you as well. We also live in Scottsdale during the winters and have found Phoenix to be a great modelling community having gotten involved with the Cactus and Moon ? Light car clubs, great bunch of guys and gals. I have been made to feel at home and have been invited to judge at the DSC contest past couple of years. It was a stroke of genius to hold a virtual contest during the Covid Calamity this past spring and to take part as a participant. Hopefully the border will reopen in time for DSC 17 and all will be better. Cheers Misha PS Is the Show & Shine still happening at Indian Bend? It has always been a neat event held every Saturday with huge turnouts.
  12. To add to the drill discussion, my ideal choice would be a Foredom Rotary tool, the Cadillac of drills used by jewellers and goldsmiths. Their foot control is very sensitive and responsive. It remains on my wish list. Cheers Misha
  13. El Magnifico! That is such sweet eye candy John, another beautiful build for your collection. Thanks for posting it, cheers Misha
  14. I really like what you have been doing with the slot car bodies! Your finished 109 looks great and I’m looking forward to this build. It’s such a treat to see the earlier GT versions. Cheers Misha
  15. Your construction of the interior side panels looks great! Glad you are doing it as it adds so much to the kit’s sparse tub. Also agree with ditching the skirts, shame to hide those mags. It’s really coming alng nicely, cheers Misha
  16. Wow Steve, a beautiful build! The front grill, the deep red colour, engine detail, the interior, all the working bits. Sure enjoyed following along. Plus it is a great departure from how most of these kits are built. Cheers Misha... will you be joining our Zoom meeting this Thursday?
  17. Hi everyone, great progress continuing on all the projects! Just a brief update, spent most of the afternoon on further engine detail. Even in my late 60s I’m still able to thread my way thru the wiring having begun installing the boots and the wire connecting the coil to the distributor. Also added a harmonic balancer on the crankshaft end, along with the pulleys including the blower pulley. Still planning out the alternator install as part of the tension pulley off the blower. Put a wash on the Strombergs and intake. Getting a bit further on the interior detail, planning and making templates... more later. Cheers Misha
  18. I also have the tin box edition sitting on the shelf, it does come with a photo booklet that is helpful in seeing some detail. Both are very simple kits that cry out for extra detail. They will be in capable hands Dann! Over the years I have seen a few excellent builds, so I’ll be following developments. Cheers Misha
  19. I agree, great colour combo, the under hood shot is neat with the red fenders. A good clean build of a terrific kit. Using the chassis under my old Johan 68. Cheers Misha
  20. That’s looking good TJ. Did you also do the bottom of the interior tub? Depending on how ambitious one is, the interior tub is begging for greater detail to the point I sawed off the side and switched them side to side with greater detail scratchbuilt into them. Pleats were added to rear seat and rear shelf with 64 Fairlane buckets. Following along, Cheers Misha
  21. Thanks Tom, I’ll keep it in mind if I run into any glitches. My paint room is small has an easily accessible window to the outside. Cheers Misha Well Steve, after many years of trying to determine whether to build my own or to purchase one, I decided on the Pace model based on reviews here on the forum and then was convinced by speaking with Bob Pace himself when I placed my order. I did place my order with him just as the pandemic struck and as a result my delivery time was nearly three months to get it to the Island instead of the anticipated few weeks. It is unfortunate that up here in Canada we are subject to shipping and brokerage fees along with our weaker dollar. It is somewhat fortunate that Pace booths, having a bang on design, are relatively inexpensive apart from the previous comments. It is good value for the Canadian Loonie, yet it is not inexpensive, I would still recommend one (24” with light and separate switches, the nicer one). Cheers Misha
