Thanks for the kind words Bernard! The WIP can be found at http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/151193-inca-jewel/ , it was also part of the first BOYD thread of the year. I used the kit’s custom front roll pan although it required of massaging to blend it all in. I then stripped the chrome off the front grill and performed surgery on it to creat the floating prop look. The seats are from the 64 Fairlane kit. Connected to the WIP thread is a story of twins inheriting the cherry Shoebox from Grandpa in the mid sixties and deciding to mildly customize and hot rod their new ride. For the Scarab I used the SBC from the AMT 63 Vette as it has valve covers with delicate “Corvette” scripts on a rather unimpressive engine block. I also thin down the plastic on wheel wells and other body openings to achieve a scale like appearance which adds to the overall look in a subtle manner. Wishing you the very best for 2012, cheers Misha Thanks Bill and Carl for your comments. While it is just two builds, I am very happy about how they turned out. Hopefully the Belair will be the first build of many for 2021. Wishing you and yours a happy and safe 2021, cheers Misha

Count me in with the Porsche 934! -
Wow Gary?! I treasure all your builds, they are all ? jewels! Cheers Misha

Thanks Kurt! ? The gauges are from a Slixx decal sheet of generic instrument panels. By the way, might you be thinking of the Lola T70 made by IMC rather than the Scrarab, as I am only aware of the Monogram curbside? Best wishes to you and your family, missing the warmth of Sun Valley up here in the rainforest! Cheers Misha. PS: Do you still have some Coke coolers on hand as I hoped to get one before the travel ban?

Great builds Phil! Another aspect of Phil’s work that many may be unaware of is guiding our local club, Scale Plastic Automotive Modellers, SPAM in the Victoria BC area. Our club is a very loose organization with no executive, dues, or business meetings. Rather we gather at various members’ homes for a monthly meeting (now through Zoom). Phil prepares a regular monthly newsletter, photographs members’ builds, submits articles on our activities, and generally corrals this bunch of gearheads. In addition our club has helped organize a major show with the IPMS group and sponsors a major display for the Pacific Nor’West Deuce Days every three years in the city, largest gathering of 32s and rods. On behalf of our club, I wish to thank and congratulate Phil for his dedication and skills in developing our hobby. Cheers Misha

Great details overall Joe! I’ll be looking at more in the new year! Cheers Misha ?

Thanks Joe, I was looking at your three builds just as your response came in. Great work on the Maverick, amazing detail! The VW in 1/35 is very impressive (noticed how Kurt jumped on it!). Cheers Misha

Great style and technique Tony! The Olds and the Talledega are winners, looking forward to seeing more in the new year. Cheers Misha

Thanks for all the comments... Thanks Dave, one of the aspects I enjoy with the vintage kits is to update them with newer parts. Found that the one piece tub interiors are quite easy to update with replacement door panels. Thanks Bruce, it won’t be long for the Chev, then I have a BOYD subject, a Porsche 934 and a Cannonballl candidate. Plus ongoing threads on the 62 Savoy and Chezoom modification. Thanks Bill, yes I enjoy the early sixties era of road racers. I have the AMT Hussein and McLaren Elva and Monogram Ferrari 275 in the stash. While based on slot car bodies, they do build up into decent curbsides. Thanks Tom for following along, I always enjoy your builds and comments. Looking forward to 2021! Thanks Larry, Installing a Pace air booth has really helped me get going on a number of projects. Thanks Don for checking out the builds. It seems that I end up spending most of my time on the engines, perhaps that’s why it takes so long to complete. In a way curbsides have their advantages. Thanks Phil for the encouragement, I’m hoping to increase the numbers for next year, including the Cobra LeMans from last Xmas! Cheers to all, best for 2012, Misha

My 2.75 Builds for 2020 While I attempted to complete my last build right up to the last hour remaining in 2020, it was not to be. Nonetheless I did complete two builds, the Inca Jewel and the Scarab Mk IV. The 49 Ford is a mild custom with a 57 Y-Block warmed over. The interior has been modified with new door panels, buckets and tuck ‘n’ roll upholstery. It was completed on the BOYD thread earlier this past year. The Scarab is the old Monogram slot car/curbside to which a SBC was added to fill the gaping holes in the rear deck. The interior was also detailed with P/E belts, new wheel, pedals, instrument decals, and metallic paint finishes. Decided to leave the body devoid of sponsors or numbers to highlight the striking body shape. This was also a WIP that was begun a few years back. The 57 Chev snap-tite was started early in December as a slump buster to get me back on track. Yet, I couldn’t resist adding to the build with a detailed interior. I haven’t been able to build a box stock kit for decades now! Came close to finishing it, now it’ll be my first completion for 2021. Cheers to all, congrats on all the great builds! Misha

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Misha replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Congrats to all the finishers this round! Well, having arrived at the end of the year and the close of the current BOYD build thread, I need to admit that my Tall T Coupe has proven to be a Herculean task that remains far from finished. As it’s the second attempt I need to disqualify my build. I would still want to take part in the next round with a new entry that is closer to completion, yet has lagged behind for a long time. In fact it’s the build that I used to introduce my self to the Forum back in in October of 2007, fourteen years ago come this October !!! Happy New Year everyone, Cheers Misha -
Happy New Year everyone! I had hoped to get this one done before year end... It will be my first completion for 2021! Have the major part of the body colours done with the exception of the dulled aluminium fin inserts that will require masking the rest of the body again, as I’d like to use the Vallejo metallic finishes. After that, major chrome work using a combo of BMF, Vallejo and Molotow pens. The interior is closer to completion with the install of the column shifter and signal lever, along with the wheel to complete the dash. I completed the chrome spears with BMF, leaving the window cranks, door handles and ashtrays (remember those...) to be brush detailed with metallics. The last tasks are to apply the kit supplied seat insert decals and embossing powder for the carpet and rear deck. The chassis is also near completion, awaiting the final install of the rolling stock. Keep forgetting to fix the oil pan drain plug... The front end chrome is nearly there, having finished the rear with the red lenses, aluminum faux exhaust pots, and blacked out relief in the bottom. The front still requires lenses on the signal lights, already having the yellow applied to it. The Chev emblem has also been detailed with gel pens. The headlights still require a Molotow touch up on the sprue attachment points. Going to call it a .75 completion for 2020... Cheers Misha

Congrats Phil on getting it ✔️ done before the year end! A great addition to your collection of historical replicas. Did you print off the decals or have them done? Wishing you a Happy New Year, cheers Misha -
I’ll join in with all the above David. Very impressive craftsmanship with building and painting. Best for the New Year, cheers Misha
-
Outstanding work Manuel! Plus the variety of builds executed to a consistent high level. I’ll join in with my fav being the 33, yet the Phaeton comes oh so close! They are all winners, congrats Cheers and a happy New Year, Misha

Your craftsmanship and artistry shows in all of your builds Steven. I always enjoy following your WIPs and learn from them. As a result I have begun to focus on the interiors following your example of forming window surrounds and fitting the glass in. That really adds a lot. Thank you for your generosity in sharing, cheers Misha. All the best for the New Year!

Great collection of builds Dennis, all winners! Having followed the build of the four door sedan, seeing all the work, it remains my favourite. All the best in the New Year, cheers Misha
-
Great year Roger, beautiful builds! My favourite remains the Edsel wagon. Followed your build with great interest. All the best for the New Year, Cheers Misha

Neat variety of builds and skills Michael. Your replicas of the VW, complete with trailer for your nephew and your own look bang on. The weathering on the Citroen is impressive as well. The packed interior looks great. Yet my favourite would be the Deuce, great stance and detail with the open top, complete with bongo drums, perfect period piece. Congrats, all the best for 2021. Cheers Misha

Great collection for the year Mike. The Squarebird is gorgeous! Also neat to see your test shots, you’re right as it brought back memories of my teen years. Most of my collection back then was white with the occasional coloured plastic from Monogram kits. I began to paint the interiors, chassis and engine yet the bodies remained in the original plastic as I was intimidated by the rattle cans. Occasionally I want to do a build like that, just for the quick satisfaction of completing a model in a day. Best wishes for 2021 and model on! Cheers Misha

Looking klean & smoooth... Cheers Misha

Thanks everyone for you looks and comments. I’m not surprised by the overall reaction to the top, I admit never having seen it done. That in itself made it interesting. The story line behind this Belair... Fred, a Korean Vet, bought the top of the line Chevy, complete with F.I. brand new. Now, after 12 hears it was showing its age, it was time for an update! The front end received discs with new Vette wheels all the way around. Interior was refurbished with the original scheme, and the original paint was redone. Now Fred wanted to complete the Cruiser in DeLuxe style. The roof was separated from the body with heavy chrome trim making the roof an expanse of its own. To compliment a ragtop look Fred decided to install a vinyl top, a new trend just developing. Now, in 1969 he had refurbished his ride with a modern look. Cheers Misha

Sure have enjoyed viewing and following along with your builds Steve! The Anglia is a thing of beauty, perhaps my fav. The Caddy offers quick delivery service and the Tuner & Gremlin offer terrific execution along with electronics! Overall a productive year considering the craftsmanship and artistry in each build. Congrats and best wishes for the New Year Steve. Cheers Misha
