Fugimi Lamborghini Countache 5000 qv: WIP
Rich Chernosky replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
David, here's a helpful hint on those working doors. They will work quite nicely BTW if you are careful. . Right where the hinge is at the front of the door, thin the plastic down for clearance. And think about adding some magnets to hold the doors in place -
This is my second go at this kit and i am fairly pleased with the results. Paint is Tamiya TS-14 Gloss black with Tamiya LP-49 Semi clear top coat. Kit is mostly stock out of box with a few additions like seat belts and some extra carbon fibre. The Porsche 918 is a hybrid and uses three motors. The first is is a very light 4.6 litre V-8 that puts out 608 BHP. In the rear is an electric motor producing 156 extra HP. In the front is another rated at 129hp. The total is 887 HP. Its very fast. The Weissach package reduces the weight and includes suspension mods as well. Further details on this build are in the picture captions. Thanks for looking. The Spyder is as fast as it looks. Chrome wheels were sprayed with a couple coats of Tamiya smoke to help it match the black paint better. Thopse rear strips were all one piece of decal but laid down nice with few wrinkles. Rear veiw shows lots of detail. Engine cover was several pieces and a little tricky to decal and install, Rear wing is CF. Licence plate is out of extras. Side veiw with the carbon fibre top installed. The chassis went in fairly easy but bowed out in the middle and had to be pinned to thew body. Those two pins are just visible. Might paint em black. Chassis was very well detailed showing all three motors and suspension but "someone" neglected to take a picture. Not my best shot of the interior even though I took many shots with different settings. Interior was sprayed with three colors, a medium gray green, a slighty darker grey and semi black, Interior was very well detailed and I liked the carbon fibre touches included in the kit. Also lots of other decals to add detail. My original 918 build of the same kit. The white car used after-market decals and was chosen to match the many other Martini livery's in my collection. I have another black Martini car so the black one was a natural selectiond both kits.

That's a very nice build on a tough ,kit Bruce. Well done. Just curious though..did Penske run a 512S before they converted one into a 512M. -
Built one these myself along with a stock version. Yours turned out great. You are right it wasn't the best kit but you perservered.

Tiger Cobra Duo
Rich Chernosky replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Beautiful work Pierre. These two are going to turn into real beauties. I can attest to the handling on the Tiger. Most of the weight was at the front and they spun tires way too easily. And the brakes faded quickly...even in downtown traffic. -
James...I notice in the picture you have the tip all the way open. It won't spray that far up in the airstream. It only takes a few turns from closed to spray. Are you using the correct tip with the correct needle. The medium (or H) tip and nozzle are the ones I use the most. Also the heavy for thicker paints. The fine tip is the worst as it clogs almost instantly so I never use it. Soaking parts will not clean any residue off by the way. I t will loosen any dried paint but to get the residue off you have to physically clean it with something.

Rex...now if this doesn't bring back some memories. I have built this kit at least twice and exactly the way you did. To me it is still a great looking car and you did a very nice job on it. Thanks so much for sharing. The diecast is cool too....now I gotta find me one.

Nice looking Ferrari's...the GTO is my fav.

Forgot to mention that if youget any of this solvent on your skin wash your hands as soon as possible. It will absoreb through the skin not to mention that solvent residue will also leave fingerprints on painted surfaces. This stuff is really strong.

I have used a Paasche H for many years now. What DPNM said was probably true. I use Savograms Paint Brush and Roller cleaner callede Quikeze in the blue can. Most hardware store carry it. . It will cut through anything, even dried acrylic. Get yourself some Q-tips that fit in the end of the airbrush and some pipe cleaners. Dip them in in the Quikeze and clean out the paint. I once had an airbubble that solidified in the paint tube of the airbrush. It looked clean because it was clear. It was maddening. You don't have to break down the H everytime. Just jam some of this cleaner through with the q-tips and the pipe cleaner then spray about 1/3 of a cupful of Quikeze through it to clean the nozzle. Be careful you don't get a snootful of this stuff, it smells bad and hurts too. Make sure you spray it well away from yourself. I shoot it right down the vent tube of my spray booth. Hope this helps.

Been awhile since I finished something then I found this is the stash all painted and ready to go. Color is a mix of Tamiya TS26 white and TS7 Racing white. Additions are wheels and tires from the Modellers Chaparral 2D, seatbelts and poseable wheels. Rest is box stock. The is the car Jim Hall campaigned in the 1966 Can-Am and the SCCA United States Road Racing Championship. More details in the captions. Thanks for looking. Finished model on its wheels. Gold strip on tires is gold striping tape cut down and varnished in place. Tiny photo etch on wing is a spirit level for adjusting the wing angle. Business end of the car. Lots and lots of photo etch parts to apply. The model is a curbside like most Fisher kits. Side view. Jim Halls car differed slightly from Hap Sharps. Most noteable difference was the rounded tub. Note the tiny PE fasteners on the windscreen. There were 24 of them in all to apply. Stark but functional interior of the 2E. Somwhere in there is a handmade gear lever. Decals for the dash came out of the extras I have accumulated over the years, We modelers are hoarders of all kinds of stuff but sometimes it really pays off. Really liked the decals in this kit. We are going to miss Mike Quarterman who did the decals for Fisher and many others.

Very clever Dave...looks pretty good to me. -
Sweet looking Beemer...like the color.

I also happen to agree with Pierre. The wheels/tires and engine really do make it on an F-1 model...especially 1/12. Both of yours are excellent and this will surely be a masterpiece. I did this kit so long ago and didn't have the knowledge, skill, and resources available to us today. Your WIP makes me want to tear mine apart and bring it up to your standards because it looks so pale in comparison. You have done a great job on this WIP too. It has been a pleasure following.

Don't know why...but I want one. Seriously , Mario, you did a great job on this. Really like your diorama's.

This was a decent kit and you did a great job on it.
