  1. After two weeks of curing, the silver body turned out pretty nice. I sanded the not quite covered hood to get some bumps off of it. Now I need to see if I can find some matching silver paint. I have some of the chrome parts for the 427 SOHC motor soaking in Westleys. I tried using the last dribble of beach from the laundry room but it did nothing. (It didn't even smell like bleach).
  2. After two weeks of curing and a bit of scrubbing with a Scotchbrite pad, the paint job looks good enough to try clear coating it. The hood got dropped in the purple lake 30 seconds after a crappy paint application. I need to hit it with another coat or two before I can proceed.
  3. After two weeks of curing, I am very pleased with the paint job. I need to build the Boss 429 and fit it in the chassis so I know exactly where to cut he hole in the hood. Then the hood can be painted.
  4. Thanks for the info. Not sure if I have the updated part or not. (Not that I have an option). I did finish some touch up work on it after masking and painting it.
  5. After two weeks of not building, the paint job quality and color were unacceptable. Just dropped it in the purple lake.
  6. The Grand Prix that engine went into burnt to the ground. I replaced it a couple of years later and still have it. I have pics if you are interested.
  7. I recently purchased Tim's Muscle car kit book and an on my 3rd read through I love it that much. I look forward to getting Tim's new one as I do have some interest in drag racing as my Dad was a sportsman racer in the late 60's. I actually remember Sox and Martin up against a dark red Chevelle at our local track Cornhusker raceway.
  8. Very nice result. When I saw the first two pics, it looked 1:1 rolling down the road with the street blurred. The background surface gave the illusion of motion.
  9. For what you are doing and the cool mock up, I vote for no wing.
  10. Likely here. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/forum/13-links-to-aftermarket-suppliers/
  11. Here is a pic of my Mopar E-body "Rainbow" Pink 1:24 Revell AAR 70 Cuda Red 1:25 AMT 70 Challenger R/T SE Orange 1:25 71 Challenger conversion from an AMT 70 Challenger Yellow 1:25 AMT 70 Challenger convertible Green 1:24 Revell 71 Hemi Cuda Blue 1:25 Lindburg 72 Challenger Purple 1:25 AMT 70 Challenger R/T convertible You can see the two Revell's are ever so slightly bigger in spite of the real world shorter wheel base of a Cuda vs. a Challenger.
  12. Very nice result and good color choice. Just and FYI Mopar muscle cars engine bays are body color. GM muscle car engine bays are semigloss black.
  13. Welcome back. Post pics when you are able. We will be interested in seeing them.
  14. Very nice build. I am building one right now. With your issues with the stripe decals, I think I will paint mine on.
  15. Welcome back. I like your project. I am afraid I have no answers but I wish to follow your build.
  16. Humidity is the biggest factor. I bought a humidity gauge and paint when it is less than 40%. Raising the temp of the air and the paint can can help crutch days that are borderline.
  17. Excellent job on all the mods. I love the gold MOROSO valve covers. I had them on my Grand Prix in the 90's.
  18. Sweet!
  19. Very nicely done. I like the depth of the grille and tail panel. Very well done.
  20. Get the metal braided wire for hanging paintings on the wall. You need it to have the least amount of stiffness or you cannot get it to hang straight down. Optionally, Go to a fabric store and get the heaviest silver colored cotton thread (or rust color if you are going for that). You can use Elmers to make it dead straight.
  21. The weathering you have done looks AWESOME! My 2 cents... The junk yards I have been in have more little bits on the ground like bolts and spark plug wires and broken chunks of black plastic. Interior pieces too.
  22. Nice progress. Following.
  23. Thanks Gene. My building has been on pause for a week. I started a new job after a month of unemployment. So I am adapting to that. I hope to get back at them soon.
  24. Thank you. It was one of the reasons I built the diorama.
