  1. First of all, great build! I will be following! Here in Sweden we have quite generous laws towards custom cars. You can build your on chassis, with your own design. Slap a fiberglass body resemble an old car and then it can be registrered as a new but old car and does not need to be inspected ever again! We also can take a junk body without papers and build it up with parts and register it as an built up car. LS sWaps are also common.
  2. Was mostly staring at the parts today.. but I managed to get hold of a second kit so I can rob glass of it. Will cut the new bed apart as well since I have noticed mine is not in the best shape. If I hadn’t so much work in this time frame al ready I might dig in to the problems and solve them but now.. na I get the other kit so I can rob it. I managed to cut the bumper to try it out. Not sure if I like it.. looks to much like a nascar truck. I might go with a stock bumper after all, or I use this one and glue the part I just cut of. Would be like a 1 inch shoped bumper I guess.
  3. Looks beautiful! That livery is intense probably allot of work as well! Great carbon work! Is it pre cut carbon? beautifull work keep at it!
  4. I was thinking of a folding one or a hinged one but will need magnets and alot of fabing.. we will se what i come up with
  5. Nice. Are those made on free hand?
  6. Great work! Bold to make it dirty! Looks cool. To bad about your details not showing since you have the tint. At least we know it’s there ? I have a similar issue. I will make the under bed area detailed since it looks really cool with the corvette rear end, but I am not sure how to display it. Folding rear canopy? Fabric folding canopy. Time will tell.
  7. Made some progress on the C5-R silverado. chassis and frame is stretched. Cage is found. Placement of the wheels is set. Will need a lift now but getting there. more to read in its own thread under wip other racers.
  8. Made some steps in the right direction to night. made the placement of the cab definite so now I have the final placement of the front wheels! Milestone! I narrowed the baseplate to70mm so it fits within the body. Actually just 1mm more narrow. I glued some supports to the body so the height to the chassis is set. Also made som progress on the cage. Will be a Revell 1/24 nascar cage with some height adjustments and some trimming. Fits better than the Vette or 911 cage I had.
  9. Thanks! Yes I saw that! Real cool! I was doing the same with the C5 but some thing with the body threw me off. Keep yours coming! thanks! Me to, will raise the rear a little so it will be straight. ?
  10. Haha! Tanks for those words! I hope I won’t disappoint!
  11. That’s a killer looking racer!! Will be following!
  12. Hi al! For 2021 years Cannonball run I really wanted to join! My plan was initially to build the Corvette C5-R as a more stock looking C5 corvette and race it across the continent. I really wanted to open the hood to display the engine and address the windows to look more like the real deal, but due to the casting being out of thick plastic I did not feel up to the task! So I looked through my stash of body’s and found this short cab Silverado that seemed plausible for a conversion. The cab started out as a glue bomb that I made as a teen. I post it in this section since several other competitors have posted their builds here I thought I do the same! The starting kit is the Revell 2001 corvette C5-R. Body and bed is from the Revell ‘99 Silverado that have been shortened to be a short cab. After some hair dryer action to the chassis it was straight and flat enough to assemble the framerails. Time to measure and cut. I need to extend the chassis 12,7mm. Took the grinder to cut of the top parts of the cage. Used the saw to cut and extend the framerails. Base plate is next, then on to fixing the bedsides to the cab permanently.
  13. Great progress! Where do you buy wheels and tires from?
  14. Beautifull! I need to strip my bumper and try to make it as nice as yours! For the tail light reflectors, did you use putty or whats your tecnique? I am now making progress on my gluebomb rescue from when i was young, for the Cannonbal run build, so it will mostly be Silverado body and C5-R under the skin ?.
  15. Great details! Engine is looking great! you will make this thing ready for cannonball ages before I get mine in to paint! I still got 10 months ?
  16. Nice project! I where debating that body style(‘57), square body or the ‘99, but of the thre I had the 99 was the only one with a non stepside bed, which suits the cassis better ? Will be following yours!
  17. You where talking about wether.. -24 deg celsius here today ? #19 Corvette C5-R Well i have decided my way forward. If I would use the Corvette body i would like to open up the front end and the hardest part to get looking good is probobly the side windows and all the gaps when opening the hood. And again a Corvette is still a Corvette. So i will not use the Corvette body. The chassis with the cover underneath will have to be stretched but since i wont have a rear seat in this body either, but moore room inside, i can use the frame more intact than what would be possible in the Impala. And since the new body have more height in the engine bay the engine will fitt better. I can also use the original transmission location. The rear wing support and difusor support will also be functional due to the design of the body it will be good to have support for the "carbonfibre" body work. I am stoked about the new approach! It's a Revell ´99 Silverado that i made as a kid. Stripped the paint long ago and did a chop so its now a short cab. I cut the inner part of the bed out to make room for the back part of the corvette and fuel cells and more. I will use some the lower pieces of the Corvette rollbar and ad to that some parts from a Porsche GT2 rollbar for the upper part. I will make a second flor i think so i can have exhaust running along the floorboard and exit behind the cab. Is this still with in the Competition?
  18. Nice progress every one! C5-R So I am not that found of the shape of the Revell body.. and thinking as if I would do this IRL.. I would like to have 2 co drivers since we are aiming for sub 26h. Would also like a cooler so I don’t need to stop for drinks and food.. how would that fit in a corvette? So.. I am leaning against complete butchery! I have the best modern style GM sedan body laying around since I was a kid. Some minor tweaks to it but no paint no nothing. Impala SS 1994.. corvette.. C5-R... the Impala SS-CR? Would need to stretch the chassis a ton.. refab the rear so I can keep the rear seat or some thing like it.. place the engine more forward, relocate the trans.. lift the suspension.. relocate de defusor... engineer a cooling system... hum.. should I?
  19. Beautifull work! And the details are amazing!
  20. Looking superb! The 1/12 looks better than the 1/25 in my view.
