Steve H replied to Steve H's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Oops… hit the wrong button ?… photos… I just love seeing those red fenders behind the front wheels. Thank you to all that followed this build, and commented. It was a fun journey for me, and I am very pleased with the way it turned out. -

It’s finished!!! Got my custom decals yesterday, and immediately installed them. License plates and the sticker on the rear window. I won’t be putting this under glass for a few weeks yet. Need to get some good glam shots, and I won’t be able to do that until I get back from holiday. Couple of teasers here … -

Cyber punk ‘88 Dodge Daytona/Mercedes C9 kit bash
Steve H replied to Steve H's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I made a fair bit of progress on this over the last couple of days. Not a lot to show YET… but soon. One of the issues I hadn’t dealt with was the missing headlights. So today was the day. Did a little digging thru one of my parts bins, and arrived at a solution I’m happy with. I found a pair of GOLD ? plated headlights from the old Monogram “mean and nasty” pro street Camaro. Now… I didn’t see this coming, but… the gold plating actually is going to work well. I am going to paint the outer edge in silver, but the gold “reflectors” for the lights will replicate amber lights perfectly, and, also be a good fit with the metallic orange paint. I will let the photos speak… I will add a piece of styrene sheet across the top to blend it in to the rad support and that should have my headlight issue resolved! I did get a bunch of painting done, but I need to do a bit of work before I show that. Soon… -

Custom 60's Chevy Truck
Steve H replied to customsrus's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Hi John, if you are still looking for colour ideas, I think it would look really cool in Tamiya light pearl red. It is essentially a metallic pink, if you are not familiar with it. No matter the colour you choose, I feel this is one of those vehicles that would look good in just about ANY colour. -
Hi Phil, although I did see this at the club meeting, I didn’t take the time to have real close look at it. I was busy helping Gord reduce the size of his model car stash!???? Fantastic work as always. Your replica builds are so well done. The blue and red really pop, and give the car a cool retro look.

Sounds like a great project John, I love the ‘66, ‘67 GTO’s. There is a lot of talent here to learn from for sure. I hope you will share your build, either as a WIP, or once complete in the under glass section. I own a 1967 Pontiac too! Mine is a Canadian car tho, ‘67 Beaumont Sport Deluxe 2dr hardtop. I will be doing a replica of it, but probably another year or so away from that… -

Hi John, and welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of helpful people on here, and tons of tips and tricks that I’m sure you will find useful. Keep an eye on the “tips, tricks, and tutorials” section, there is always great snippets there. If you’re looking for help with anything, post in the questions section. My skill, and knowledge has improved significantly since joining the forum back in 2020. One thing I realized is that I needed more/better tools!! If I see something I really like in someone’s thread, I screen shot it and add to my “model stuff” album in my photos. What car are you building a replica of? Thanks Joe, yes, finding the different shades, and sheens is key to a good looking black interior. Realistically, under glass photos will be late November, got a nice little holiday coming up. -
STITCHES
Steve H replied to TopherMcGinnis's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks awesome Topher. Perfect stance, great wheel/tire combo, nice fabrication, and the colour really sets it off. My current build is the same colour. Bench squirrels…?? I’m pretty sure those little buggers got my wiper motor from my 71 Olds. No idea how it disappeared otherwise…? -

Hi Joe!! Good to hear from you my friend. I very much appreciate your comments. Actually, this is great timing as I just heard that my custom decals are on their way! So hopefully I can get this to the finish line. Also…. I just re-read most of my posts and realized that I forgot something important. I always try to give credit to builders that gave me inspiration, or that I learned something specific from, and use on a build. Hard to always do that as there is a ton of super talented builders here. So… one thing that you taught me sir, is how to make a good looking black interior. Your black interiors have always stood out to me, and I recall asking you in one of your threads a while back how you achieved that. I forget your exact reply, but basically …use many different blacks. On this builds interior, I used: flat black, semi gloss black, nato black, and black embossing powder. The result is my best looking black interior by far. So thank you Joe for your contribution to this build. I should have the decals in about 2-3 weeks ?. As soon as I have them, I will get this build finished, photographed, and then hand it over to my brother from another mother. Really looking forward to the handoff. -
Nice to see this one back in action Anton. The rendering looks killer!

Steve H replied to BK9300's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Amazing work Brian. A lot of plumbing on this vehicle! Fantastic attention to details, and excellent craftsmanship. ?? -
Hi Len, I love your methodical approach to the modifications. Honestly, when I first looked at what changes were to be made, I prioritized them in the same order you did. That said, you have done a better job than I would have. Excellent work on the new side molding over the door handles. I agree with Jim, you really do know what you’re doing ??. I also really like builds like this with several subtle changes, that you really have to have your game face on to see them. You know something is different, but exactly what has been changed, and how…. Love it!

Cyber punk ‘88 Dodge Daytona/Mercedes C9 kit bash
Steve H replied to Steve H's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hi guys, I had a reasonably productive weekend at the bench. Not a lot to show for photos, but I have a majority of the main components sorted out for fitment. The interior door cards took more time than they should have, but it was constant sand/file/test fit, repeat…. I also needed to figure out where I could relocate the inter coolers. With that task sorted out, I could now add air scoops to direct air for them. I used tape to layout the cuts and act as a guide for the rough cuts. After opening them up, I added some shape to the inlets. I made a couple of “scoops” from sheet styrene and attached them to finalize the intake. still some minor clean up, and refining, but close. The inter coolers will be mounted on the rear firewall behind these inlets. I have most of the interior in primer, so hoping to get some colour on those parts this week. Door cards need some detail, and a bit left to do on the dash. The biggest tasks left to do are fabricating a “trunk” under the hood, and figure out the turbo piping. Thanks for having a look! -
AMT 1967 Chevelle Pro Street w/Ghost Flames in 1/25 Scale.
Steve H replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in Model Cars
Hi Craig! Always like your builds sir. The ghost flames are very well done, and look stunning. Good choice on the wheel swap. -
Nice one Mike! That colour looks fantastic on it. Great work on the foil. Need to get me some of those BFG TA’s from iceman. Is that Tamiya “rubber on the tires?

Tamiya Aston Martin DBS... One from the Top Shelf!
Steve H replied to jaymcminn's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Beautiful looking build Jason. That interior will really be a nice contrast with the metallic black body. Nice job detailing the interior. I like the subtle contrast of the carbon fibre rear diffuser, adds a sneaky little detail. Wheels look good too.?? -
Nice surgery Len! That is some clean, well thought out work. Looks like fairly minimal cleanup.

Excellent work John! Very cool custom, er, custom!

Take care Mario, look forward to seeing you post when you are able. Always enjoy your builds.
