  1. Long overdue update! I have been picking away at this, and managed some desk time in the last couple of days. The interior pieces are very close to complete. Some details, then assembly. Hopefully soon! console is fully scratch built. Cup holder trim rings are boot lace ferrules, sequential shifter with pistol grip, and hand brake are also scratch built. The dash was smoothed out, I added gauge decals from the recent S10 release, the switch panel is from the Dobberton J2000, and some photo etch rounds out the dash. Door cards aren’t my best work, but I’m alright with how they look. I also installed the pedals after I took photos. Chassis components are starting to come together. Front suspension is assembled, I’ll show a photo once I get a bit more done. (Rad etc.) The engine will get a bit more detail, but not getting too carried away with it. The engine is not glued, just plunked in place. Rear frame and suspension are painted and ready to assemble. I believe those nasty ejector pin marks will all be covered once I’m done😱😬. I know the furthest back ones are definitely going to be covered… Hoping to get the body and wing clear coated tomorrow.🤞🤞 As always, thanks for having a look, all comments and critiques welcome.
  2. Thanks Anton, as you know I always appreciate your feedback. Hi Scott. Thanks for following along, took a bit longer than planned… I will watch for your take on this kit. Jim!! Sorry, didn’t you get an invite to the party?! I need to talk to my secretary 😂 You can sing anytime, we’ll all join in. Francis, it is great to have you back on the forum sir. Thanks for checking in, and taking the time to comment. It was fun doing this for him. Not as many choices for tunes back then. Elvis is good though… Thanks for the kind words. Thanks Greg. One of my more detailed builds. I am pleased with the end result. Thank you Topher! Hi Tom, and thank you. Adding the little details was fun. Had to decide when to call it enough. Some will likely never be seen. I do plan on doing a replica of my car one day, and I think I will open the driver side door to show off the details. This was good practice for that build. Thanks again for all who followed along. She is officially “under glass” with some half decent glamour shots.
  3. Another sweet looking build David. Very nice detailing throughout sir. Love Butternut yellow on the old GM cars. I actually don’t generally like yellow on anything, but butternut for some reason looks great.
  4. Very crisp, beautiful build Jason! The interior looks fantastic with your added detail. The mica red is absolutely gorgeous. (Pink primer…🤔 might need some of that) I would have bet there was a silver base the way that colour pops. Foil work is top shelf too. Cheers, Steve
  5. Looks amazing Donald! That green is stunning. Look forward to seeing this come together.
  6. Hi all, as the title suggests, this is a replica of my BIL’s 71 Olds 442. I wanted to build this for him as a thank you for some very generous things he has done for my wife and I. One of those things was a trip to Barrett Jackson in 2018. As you will see, his 1:1 car is absolutely stunning. This was a build that I tried to push myself a bit for trying new things, and adding a bit more detail than usual. In particular, the interior received more attention. The build thread has more info and photos of the real car, and some of the ridiculous little things I added that no one will ever see. Well…unless you have a look😁. I will be handing this off to Wayne tomorrow night (Dec. 16) Interior: seat belts with retractors, 8 track with cassette, parking brake release, vent knobs in kick panel, high beam dimmer switch, flocked, seat adjust levers (forward/back), keys in ignition, BMF trim, 4 different colours of black Engine: wired and plumbed as close to 1:1 as I could get, heat stained heads at exhaust ports (I was quite pleased with how that turned out), moved washer fluid jug to driver side, rubber seal on top of air cleaner, removed AC and scratch built a heater box, brake fluid reservoir clip, hollowed air cleaner snorkel, alternator bracket, dip stick, I added a hood prop, which obviously the real car does not have. Exterior: paint is mica silver/pearl white(2 coats)/clear pearl(1 coat)/ then clear, all Tamiya, BMF trim, exhaust tips, back up lenses, tires were flat spotted to give the car “weight”, valve stems, custom decals for license plates and rear window decal. I will let the photos tell the rest of the story. A bit pic heavy, first 4 are the 1:1 link to build thread This is a really nice kit and builds up nicely. The only shortcomings (other than me…) the hood decals were not quite “black” a bit faded looking, which would likely just be my kit?, and the intake manifold has a considerably oversized hole to drop the upper rad hose into. I modified that to match the 1:1 car anyway. Thanks for taking the time to look. All comments and criticisms are welcome. Oh… and Happy Holidays to all of you and your families!_
  7. Great colour, and looks like it laid down nice.
  8. Coming along very nicely Greg. I REALLY like that motor, looks so cool.
  9. Awesome work as usual Dennis! That’s a lot of work in the front suspension… well done.
  10. Tail lights look good Jim. As for the chop, everyone has their own preference of how it should look. I have seen many of these with a “disproportionate” chop, it seemed to me that is what the builders were going for?🤷🏻‍♂️ Regardless, the bodywork looks great!
  11. I’m not an airbrush guy, I use rattle cans. My method is similar to Lenny above 👆, but I usually do the front, then back, bottom, sides, then finish at the top. On the final clear coat, I try to work somewhat quickly to keep a wet edge.
  12. Well…. It is Wayne’s birthday today. Ooops, I had aimed to have it in his hands today. I finally got some decent glamour shots yesterday and today. Oh ya, I also added the foam gasket on the top of the air cleaner. Looks better when it’s not so big!🫣😜 So I will deliver this to him this weekend, and put it “under glass” in the next couple of days as well. Thanks again to those that followed along.
  13. Francis my friend, awesome to see you back at it!! I hope you and your father are well. No surprise to hear that you are looking after your dad, and helping out neighbours. You’re a good man Francis. Our elders too often end up neglected. I will keep tuned in to admire your amazing work. Cheers, Steve
  14. Very cool project Maurice. I love old wagons and pro street. Nice work so far.
  15. Hi Maurice, good looking builds there. I’m a big fan of pro street cars still. I did a 67 Chevelle a few years back, they make killer PS cars in my opinion. I also built a 66 Chevelle PS wayyyyyy back in just about exactly the same blue as your 67.
  16. Roger was an awesome guy, very knowledgeable, and always happy to answer a question, or share a tip. I miss his presence here. It is great that the body of work remains. It would be a shame if that was not the case. I encourage you to have a look at some of his other builds, and by all means bring them back up for others to see. His builds often had more work in them than meets the eye. His pro street 65 Nova comes to mind. Cheers, Steve
  17. Hi Maurice, looks like you are fairly new here, welcome to the forum. Sadly we lost Roger a couple of years ago. As you can see, he was an incredibly talented builder. He is missed by all that knew him here. Lots of great people on the forum here, check out some of Plowboys other builds, they are all fantastic, and it’s nice to see them resurface on the board. Cheers, Steve
  18. Hi Al, this is awesome. You captured Roger’s style well. He was my favourite builder on the forum, loved his builds. He was very knowledgeable, and always happy to share his techniques. I miss him on here…. I have had several tribute builds rattling around in my head since he passed. I will be tackling one next year, and will share it here. Thanks for starting this thread. I never met Roger in person, but have no doubt he and I would have got along well.
  19. Hi Chuck. Roger was my favourite builder one this forum, I miss his input. Really cool to see a tribute build for him. I actually have 3 tribute builds in my head. I will get one of them done in the coming year. Always enjoy your builds sir, well done. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Killer build Dennis. I’m not a huge fan of gassers in general, but some of them speak to me. This one was calling me. Very cool build sir!
  21. Looks like a cool project Martin. You had me at “low”…
  22. Very nice clean build David. That paint treatment on the roof looks fantastic. I like the blower set up, have one of those in the stash waiting for a good home.
  23. Another home run Tim! You definitely have the wheel/stance thing figured out!! Perfection…
  24. Hi Cody. I absolutely love this body style of Caddy. You nailed the Hot Wheels vibe! The vinyl top is very well done, and that body colour is outstanding. I built one of these last year in a very different style. Great looking cars.
  25. Ah yes… another imaginative creation from the house of Claude. Hope you are well my friend! I see the hours of fun with styrene continue. Cheers, Steve
