Gorgeous Jag, Jay. To be honest, I never cared for the look of the XJ220. Something about its lines just seemed awkward to me. The situation is exasperated by the fact that almost all are painted silver, which I also don’t care for. But seeing your build with that beautiful red paint, the XJ220 is transformed. The lines have purpose, and that rear 3/4 view is downright sexy. Never saw that in an XJ220 before. Well done, I say.

I really like that. The tough demeanour of the Skyline comes through, without being overdone. Very cool.

Yup, I would use tape, too. Apply carefully and burnish well. If not happy with the ‘lay’, pull it up and re-lay it. May take several tries. Once the lay is good, burnish the deepest part of the groove first, then work your way up the sides. Good tape is a must, Tamiya etc. no household painters tape. BMF is an alternative masking medium for irregular surfaces. Be aware that liquid masks can stain some non-glossy surfaces. If considering a putty for masking, such as the blue tac mentioned above, another option is silly putty, which can be quite versatile also.

At the rate I build, if I started a model of this car tonight, I could probably finish it by spring.

Been collecting kits and research info for this build for a few years now. It's one I hope to get to before too long.

I love asphalt short trackers. Very nice, clean work on the Petty Dart. What paint did you use? It looks right at home on the Dart.

Very cool project, Chuck, and well executed. Very original. I love it. I once saw a contraption similar to this using an early 70s Tornado and thought it would be a cool project. Glad to see someone having done it. Cheers.

Great idea. Any time I find myself in a toy isle, especially at a discount store, I check out the tires on all the cars & trucks for potential model use. Every once in a while I find something useful, and the toy costs about 1/4 of the price of a set of model tires.

Good looking Cuda. You did a great job mixing the paint. When I first saw the photos, I hoped the colour was a commonly available, off-the-shelf colour. But alas, custom mix. Anyway, very nice, clean work on the Cuda.

I have long wondered about both this kit and the Merc C-111. I've not seen either one in person or built up. I'd love to build a C-111, but the choices seem dismal. The Marzal is a very cool subject, too. Maybe the 3-D guys will come to the rescue. I found an outfit (whose name I regretfully forget) doing nice looking 3-D kits in very limited runs, and producing many unkitted subjects that I've wanted to do for years, including a Lamborghini Espada, which is the marketable version of the Marzal. Unfortunately, I discovered the place after the kit run was over.

Good looking collection, Kurt. That's a tasty stack of Ferraris. Good to see Cooper the guard cat is keeping an eye on things.

Just hearing this news now. Very sorry to hear. Love his style. Great taste in hot rods, too. He will really be missed. Never knew who he would collaborate with next. No matter how unlikely the pairing, the result was always pleasing. R.I.P Jeff Beck. Thanks for the lovely music. Think I’ll head on down to the basement and crank up some Blow By Blow.
