1/25 AMT '65 Lincoln Continental Customizing Kit
Ron Hamilton replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
He is lurking for now, as his photos are in Photobucket, and their fee to post them is too stiff for his pocketbook. Maybe one day, he will get back to work on his Lincoln Sedan. All it needs is primer, paint, and final assembly. -
SOME CURRENT ROUND 2 INFO TODAY...
Ron Hamilton replied to AC Norton's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That 9C1 Nova was a beast. Our county has them, and they were pretty fast. I have been considering trying my hand at doing a 4 door Nova. I had a 78 4 door as a demo when I first got into the car business. -
Looking for 68 Ford LTD parts
Ron Hamilton replied to Fat Brian's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The Missing Link Resin 1968 Ford LTD 4 Door Hardtop Transkit is pretty nice, and is worth finding. In the one- to-one world, the roof panel between the 2 and 4 door hardtop is the same, with the sail panels being different. The gentleman who did the master for the Transkit, Howard Weinstein, is a personal friend of mine, and is a member of our modeling club. I have one of the transkits myself, and I am considering turning mine into a 2- door, and no it is not for sale. If you can get one from Missing Link, do not hesitate. -
Beep beeeeep!

That looks great. I really like the color, as it is period correct.

AMT 1969 Cobra questions
Ron Hamilton replied to fairlane1320's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I am not mistaken, the Revell 70 Torino Cobra has a set of front fender decals. I really liked the Ford Torino line of cars, having built an original '68 annual. As a matter of fact, when I first started collecting and building vintage annual kits, the 68 and 69 AMT Ford Torino GT sportsroofs were among the first ones I got. I replaced the cracked kit decals with sets from Fred Cady and Keith Marks, which will allow me to build color combinations which were not available with the kit decals. I love that black 69 Cobra that was done by Steve Milbury. I purchased a few extra AMT/Ertl 69 Cobras as kit fodder for any shortages in my annuals, as well as being the base kit for a Modelhaus '68 Torino GT 2 door hardtop resin transkit I have. -
Nice! I would love to do a 40, but it is hard for me to come up with a concept. I am leaning towards a stock body with Halibrand Sprints, with a body painted in Maroon or Root Beer Brown, with a saddle tuck and roll gut, and a hot flattie.

76-77 LeMans Enforcer 0r Smokey & Bandit Sheriff Justice Car
Ron Hamilton replied to DEL's topic in WIP: Model Cars
A friend of mine had a 73 Olds Cutlass Salon 4-Door with every option, but a sunroof. It had a 455, Turbo 400, and an anti-spin rear axle. He bought it used about in late 77 before the car was restyled in 78. That car was a monster, in that it would break the tires loose while it was rolling if it was nailed. The gas mileage was atrocious of course, and he gave the car up once the insurance company figured out what he had, and put a muscle car surcharge on it after a minor fender bender. We had fun while it lasted.- 115 replies

I have a lot of projects under way right now, and I agree with you on timing with Revell. I would love to do a 74 Gran Torino Sport. Oh well.

I am taking a lot of shortcuts. In fact the Revell Torino kits are the reason that I will be able to do this. What I an going to do is the following: I have a couple of JOHAN Torino NASCAR bodies, which has all of the stock ornamentation. The fuel fill hole in the fender can be filled. The bumper and grille are identical to the replica stock car, so that is no problem. Now here is where the project becomes viable. Motor City Resin does a 72 Gran Torino Transkit. I was able to obtain a complete interior tub, hood, and tail lamps separately for the project, so I am almost there. The Revell chassis has to be tweaked to fit the JOHAN body, and I have to make a rear roll pan. To be sure, this is not a direct drop in, but it can be done. I have a set of Magmum 500 from Missing Link Resin that were JOHAN based, but they look small to me. The one-to-one ran 14" running stock, so they may be made to work. That is the way I am going to approach that one. By the way Mike, I did not mean to hijack your thread with this. I am just giving information, as my project is several years off, as I have a lot on the table right now. By the time I get around to that one, someone else would have done it, and I have no problem with that.

Those are 65-68 Pontiac Rally I wheels. The 69 GP did not have that wheel as a Factory option. The original MPC kit had the deep dish wheel cover as the stock version wheel, and the Rally I wheel for the custom version. I have my original 69 to restore, and I am going to use a set of Rally II wheels on mine. Those wheels look great on that build.

'02 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Collector Edition
Ron Hamilton replied to echoxrayniner's topic in Model Cars
Looks good Ray. One thing though, the "A" pillars were black on that series of Trans Ams. I sold one of those when I was in the car biz. he guy who bought it was a very happy camper. -
I test fit the jo han stocker body on the revell chassis, and it will work with a little trimming on the front and rear.

Very nice Mike! I love your work and approach to subjects. I am going to do one of mine as a 72 Gran Torino Sport. I spent a small fortune in resin and plastic to pull this off. I may do something similar to Clint Eastwood's 72, as I was able to procure the laser decals a long time ago, and I had the single carb manifold and air cleaner from the stock 76 kit for the engine, as while the dual quads look fantastic, they are wishful thinking on this car. My project is a ways off, as I would have to remove the mouldings from the body, add a Vinyl roof, find a set of Magmum 500s in the parts box, as the JoHan Wheels look small, scratch build a proper set of interior door panels, re-contour the bucket seats and make a center console. Mine will probably be Triple- Black with red-orange stripes.

What made the Edsel fail ?
Ron Hamilton replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Timing. Too much overlap in the market. Bizarre styling. Politics. Stagnant economy. Take your pick. One, some or all. -
Would you or wouldn't you?
Ron Hamilton replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If it were real nice, I would sell it, take the profit, and get a slightly ratty one to work over. That is what I am doing with one. I tend to pass on the real nice stuff, as I am going to do wholesale changes to them anyway. However, a nice beginning will yield a better result. That is why I will not waste my time on third rate resin kits I have seen lately. -
Absolutely! I bought some "goodies" from Fireball and Scenes Unlimited for my Bronco builds. I may get a Baja kit as a 3rd version , as well as an few bits from Olsen Bros. I have seen some fantastic builds from this kit.

1972 Chevy Blazer
Ron Hamilton replied to mikemopar70's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I really like that Blazer. I may do one just like it. I have those decals the wheels and Tires and the kit. I was having some work done on my one-to-one Silverado, and the chassis looks similar with that patina. I may do all of my builds like that . -

Best pickup kits for crewcab
Ron Hamilton replied to olschoolkid's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a couple of promos of a 87 through 99 Chevy 3500 crew cab "dooleys" that I may open up and put a 454 and Underwood detail in. Be careful of some of that resin, as it is hard to get right.
