The 6/OD can make for decent performance. For a little extra power, twin carbs and a split exhaust can do the trick. The 6 and V8 weren't all that far apart in power, so I think you'll be pretty happy with it. Besides, it's good to be a little different. I'd keep it pretty close to stock, if not exactly stock, and enjoy, at least in the nice weather. Charlie Larkin

With Pioneer Valley Hobbies closed, and Craft-Tech in East Windsor's future uncertain, Hobby Emporium is a great choice, so is Spare Time. I can also recommend Hog Heaven in Sturbridge. I've never been, but I've always heard great things about Time Machine Hobby in Manchester, Ct., too. Here in the North County, we don't have a lot. In West Boylston, there's Turn 4 Hobbies. Mike's a nice guy, and will order whatever you'd like if he doesn't have it. In the Twin Cities and near, there's R/C Excitement in Fitchburg and Shepaug Railroad Co. in Ashburnham. Good hobby shops are getting harder to find, that's for sure. Charlie Larkin

I'm actually having New Hampshire Oil Undercoat applied before winter; basically gear oil with Vaseline. Sticks to everything. The rockers were already fixed by the garage, due to rust, and should be undercoated, so we'll make sure that's done. Unfortunately, I don't think the MAF sensor cleaner would work on this car. The sensor is a little plug-in bit that goes in what would normally be the MAF, and is plastic, but I will keep this in mind. Charlie Larkin

My '07 Crown Vic barfed the transmission, and buying a used car right now is a horror show. I still managed to do it. Now close to being eligible for antique registration, but I have my reserved special plate on it. 1999 Buick LeSabre Limited in Bronzemist with the neutral (tan) leather. Every option except the Gran Touring Package. When I got it, practically every sensor was malfunctioning as it turned out, along with the fuel pump and pressure regulator. My garage and I were thinking computer even after all the bad sensors were replaced and it still wouldn't run. Turned out to be the MAF, the one sensor we didn't change. Still needs a few little odds and ends, but it runs, drives, and gets pretty decent mileage.

I love the 1959 Imperial kit, and have a bunch to build. I did find the window unit is a little tough to get to seat, so be ready to play with it a little; I used some Testors clear parts cement on the top runner to hold it in place. Good tip on the front ensemble; I forget what I did to mine to get it to sort of work, but I'll try that. Story goes that the chrome parts tree was missing, so Dave Burkett, who underwrote the first two modern re-issues in 2005 and c. 2009-'10, paid to have a new plated parts tree made. Supposedly, the parts fit better than the original. Photos have given me mixed signals on antenna placement. It appears that most were front-fender-mounted, but power antennae might have been on the rear. I'm doing one of my cars with a rear-mounted antenna because, correct or not, I think it looks better, and I can confirm that most of the '58s I've seen photos of had that, so it is possible to have had it re-mounted. This is the one I've finished so far. At this point, I have one more hardtop in Gray Rose that will receive the Crown Landau treatment (stainless roof insert and vinyl top), a convertible in Nocturne Blue, and one of the 2006-issue kits with a body I messed up rather badly. I'm putting a Hettick LeBaron 4-door on that chassis, and one more unbuilt kt that I plan to make some modifications to the interior, and make it into an Imperial Custom coupe that will be in Persian Pink. Scale Finishes can mix you a bottle. Or MCW. If you'd rather not go that route, I remember Jo-Han's Police Fury recommending plain old Testors gloss green. Perhaps that with literally a drop or two of black to one bottle, thinned for airbrushing, would be right? Charlie Larkin

I wonder if you could use the Post-It flags that you use to mark pages in a book for hinges? Interesting about the glue. Send a few of the old hinges to a lab for a fluoroscope exam to get a spectral breakdown of the glue? Charlie Larkin

The new Revell spray colors had a color (flat light grey) that was about what I wanted for an interior, so I gave it a try. The paint can has a lot of pressure in it, and it gushes out. That's the down side. The upside is that because of the gushing, it covers very well, and out-gasses and thins out quickly. It dried pretty quickly 25-30 minutes), and in a nice, thin coat. Two coats, and I was done. I've also found the Humbrol spray lacquers are pretty nice, and you get a bit more for the money than you do with either the Tamiya or Revell paints. Charlie Larkin

I don't even do rods, and if they included the figures (especially the red-head), I'd buy the kit simply for those. Bronco pickup is neat. Might go for one of those. And yes, I want a stock Henry J, too. If I could figure out how to build that one stock, I'd build it, even if it was a stock curbside. Charlie Larkin
