Kit Manufacturers Quality Control Or Lack Of It
keyser replied to VW93's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Isn't flashing also due in part to low injection pressures? Oozes thru seams? IIRC that was issue in past with older molds too. Willys reissued a bunch in older days, ez to find one with better shape. Truck really never fit, I had a Street Rods issue and it went back in the box. Still in bag somewhere. Meh. Funny thing, the 53 F100 and the 49 Merc have been issued far more than this, and have survived well. -
Kit Manufacturers Quality Control Or Lack Of It
keyser replied to VW93's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This Willys came out as 1/2 of a double kit with the custom 32 Tudor in 1963. One other rebox as a "Show and Go" in 64-65 I guess. http://amtmodelkits.us/amt_show_n_go_40_willys_32_ford_double_kit_2332_1_25_scale_model_car_swap_meet_4.htm I've not seen this issue, just the gold issue. 32 removed and pickup added in 68-69. Never fit well when new, but it and Rev SWC were it for ages. -
MCW is great, they'll make it right I'm sure. That is NOT gonna buff out ? Nice 75

2-3000 on the bottle does not mean a real 2-3000hp. LOL. Saw Deep south the other day. Built motor for $4500. Not getting 2-3000hp for that. Tighty whitey dyno maybe 69 cool, FF RR too. B/M likely Maybe Round 2 will do wagon off 68 Elky?

Next Issue of MCM
keyser replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are more surgeries soon. Gregg is great, tough guy, and is caring for others while going thru all this. I'm glad most people have no idea, as it's crushing. You never know how strong you are until you have no other choice. Griping about inconsequential nonsense is moot when you face illness, injury, surgeries, chemo, or stunning medical bills. The spirit it takes to remain positive is exhausting. But Gregg and others do so. Godspeed, and I agree, count your blessings, there are more than you know. -
Info on a couple kits
keyser replied to RichCostello's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Aston is great kit, tires and wheels could be a bit better but really builds up into nice replica -
Nice save. SWB's look great in non-reds. And bumperless as a comp/as raced car.
-
Adventurine Green is great color. Wheels are huge issue for these. I've got a Cab and a Turbo, Maisto Boxster wheels in Turbo box but odd offset too. Great garageful.

Greg that rear valence is fiddly IIRC, as was the Bond DB5. Volante DB6 would be cool. I think I have a DB5 builder with good body as well if that would be helpful. I bought nice DM Bond DB5 ages ago for great deal. Only issue was previous owner cut bottoms of right side tires off to keep from rolling, did it about 1/2 way up tire profile. Car had spare in trunk, so that fixed one. I found Dubonnet DB5 for dirt cheap, boxes, papers, was going to steal spare and sell. Paint and car perfect on arrival, thing was cheaper than a couple Maistos delivered. I stole spare, but the maroon car too nice to sell. Kept it, one of my favorite casting they did. Forgot-Matchbox did great DB2 coupe, early casting. I've got my one-owner in Dubonnet red with black knurled wheels. Best looking one of the bunch.

This gorgeous thing is evidently around, but only from cowl back. Front end is now stock CL Imperial. Woodlites, grille, hood sides, and louvers transform the car. Just killer. Project for the new re-issue, or 1:1 project for Sam Mann. Real Chicago Gangbusters 31 Sedan with bulletproof glass and gun ports. Serious iron for 31. 32-33 CL, convertible roadster as Richard said. https://forums.aaca.org/topic/337758-classic-era-chrysler/ Fun thread, stays on topic for 3 pages. Astounding. Works just like all the other forums I'm on. And, you're smarter when you finish reading a thread. AACA is fast pitch. LOL. Link to different car but ibid https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/MB08/Vintage-Motor-Cars-of-Meadow-Brook/lots/r200-1932-chrysler-cl-imperial-convertible-roadster-by-lebaron/487526

Really quick. Truly a fun kit, one can do a jillion different builds and they all look good. Love the phone. Laughed. Looks pretty correct. Great work. Add a pic with Mrs. Peels Elan too.
-
Awesome. Just killer build

That's always been a cool body. You planning on fender skirts, or open? You could do some cool shape on the skirts to match the F&R fenders. Taillights on this thing are the bomb. Those machined Sombreros look great on a custom. Norm has tiny red Caddy emblems for center too, even if they're not exactly Cad wheels.

Quoted for truth and posterity Tom.
-
That WILL spread viruses BTW. Bwahahahahaha.
-
Showrods, baby, all day. I've got a RR witha DML 1/35 articulated track project that'll never get done, but cool. Fun to have exotics, annuals and showrods in the mix. LOL. Blasphemy I know.

It's gone, that's why the did the new tool 68 back in what, the late 70's early 80's? It's still around.

Delay of New model kits-Round2, Revell
keyser replied to Bob Ellis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
He's not rude. He's trying to calm hysteria. Viruses DON'T work that way. EVER. I've been a pulmonary/critical care doc for 30yrs. Humans get it from each other, initial cases like SARS and MERS were animal to human. There are tons of coronaviruses out there. Few are evil. This strain is evil, but it's people spreading it. It kills, but flu kills more each year. No shot yet, but rapid test developing, deployed in few places so far. Getting a flu shot (dead virus particles so you won't become sick from it) more important than this. I don't have immune system, and I fly to NIH is Bethesda and Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. I am concerned, but I still fly. You're not getting anything from a package/kit/guy who packed whatever. -
1970 Ford Galaxie 500 reissue : I added Factory Reference Material
keyser replied to migace's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Or maybe finding the Airfix/MPC/Craftmaster DB5 Bond car and the 2000GT roadster and coupe. Airfix doesn't seem to have them. No rumors. Just hopeful wish. Need '71 Mustang, goofy 3 wheeled buggies to go with couple funny chase scenes. Wint and Kidd Thunderbird too (maybe Landau though?) -
The 2 Lincolns probably closest to '28's. Roadster and Phaeton The '32 Imperial convertible sedan, and the '32 Chrysler roadster (For some reason I think it's a CG Roadster not an Imperial.) The combo kit 32 Chevy Cabriolet and Panel. MPC issued a couple other classics in Not Gangbusters. 1914 Stutz Bearcat issued x3 IIRC, one was TV show, one a Connoisseur Classic, and one a regular issue in red. The 33 Panel came out as a 66 style box, no real GB stuff. All the GB cars have been reissued a few times. Decent to build. Pretty much what people said, had to add the Stutz, neat kit people forget about.
-
Antenna on deck in hole most likely. Was mast with round loop 2/3 way up. Revell Futura had it. As difficult as that kit can be, it's decent. This? Sell it as Rare!! Pro-Built!! Never Reissued!!

Richard got it. Premier Carving soap would prob work better. Their Corvair pickup and Stude pickup were pretty nice though.
