  1. Those red headlights may not be street legal, but they are installed on street driven cars. I saw one at about sunset the other day. It was very disorienting seeing a pair of "brakelights" approaching at 35-40 mph. The entire headlight was red, not some ring or partial color - there was no white at all.
  2. I was looking at the box bottom at Hobby Lobby, and the narrow tailgate is actually shown on the sprue layout on the bottom. It is directly across from the hood. When (and if) AMT fixes it, will they correct the box bottom too? I hope so.
  3. My understanding is that there is no RG or RUSA anymore, only Revell.
  4. It's at the top of this page - the Red Baron. The black model pictured is a highly modified Red Baron.
  5. A Google search of the part number (bosch 0 261 200 483) shows that it is an Engine Control Unit for a Porsche 911.
  6. The Mk I was done in 1/24 by Doyusha (kit NH-18). It is a 1973 Euro-spec lower end (no power bulge) curbside. I've heard that it was intended for slot-car use, but includes a chassis and shallow interior. https://goo.gl/images/dR7r1i
  7. I was always told the Army had more boats than the Navy, and the Navy had more fighter planes than the Air Force. The Army does/did have a lot of ships, but it was the small craft where they out-boated the Navy.
  8. Submariner, hence SSNJim (SSN = nuclear powered attack submarine, Jim = my name). Served from 1976-1992 on SSN594 (short and long hull), SSN637 (short and long hull) and first flight 688 submarines. Made 4 trips to the Mediterranean Sea, two to South America, and one above the Arctic Circle. Best. Job. Ever.
  9. How about the Lindberg 37 Ford Convertible or 38 Ford Van? It looks like it has a Corvette C3 rear end in it. You can probably pick it up for a song at Ollie's.
  10. There were also two apartment buildings that had their roofs taken off and a TJ Maxx that had their roof collapse during the same storm. There was a possible tornado in largely tornado-free Maryland. Sounds like "bad weather" to me.
  11. Agree, modern. For me, the "Molded in Red" is a dead giveaway. In the last few years, AMT has been molding certain hobbyist oriented kits in both white and a color, and labeling the boxes as appropriate. I've seen the 70-1/2 Camaro in white and orange, the 1984 GMC pickup in black and white, the 1965 Grand Prix in white and green, and they all have similar labels. Before that, you got whatever color was in the box - sometimes the box would say molded in whatever color, but that was the only choice.
  12. W.T. Grant's was a mid-range department store until the mid-70's. I do remember buying a few kits there, though it was just at the beginning of my model building. Nice stores.
  13. I was at a NASCAR-sanctioned short track years ago, and they decided to run the Late Model Stocks clockwise for one heat. The track management claimed there was no rule that said they HAVE to run CCW, so they turned the starting grid around on the spot, and ran a race clockwise that counted for points/qualifying. It was pretty amazing. They didn't handle so well (lots of tire smoke from the RR tire, and way out of shape) and a bit slower, but no serious problems.
  14. It's been done - at least twice. Count Rossi, the guy who sponsored the Martini & Rossi Porsche teams, had one in the 70's, and apparently another has been licensed in Monaco. Google "Rossi street 917" for more details.
  15. Thanks for the rear seat pictures and ideas, guys! I just picked up a Tamiya 911GT3, and the instructions say to just place the supplied carpet over the seats to hide the seats. That doesn't seem right to me. I haven't made it to that point yet, but this will be a big help. Now to go get the tub out of the box, and the instructions....
  16. Apparently a guy named Pierre Tissier modified a lot of Citroens into commercial vehicles, this being one of them. This is one of the results found on a Google search for "citroen auto transporter meilen", then selecting images and scrolling through them until I found a picture of it. https://oppositelock.kinja.com/cars-you-didnt-know-about-the-citroen-made-by-tissie-1203864111 He did/does some interesting conversions. I don't know if he is still in business. This particular one was probably built around 1970. One more: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Citroën_DS_Tissier_automobile_transporter_(Meilenwerk) Searching for "tissier citroen" comes up with pretty cool resources.
  17. Interesting - someone must have gone out and edited all the Google pictures . It's strange I don't remember ever seeing a F-150 badge on a Lightning. I drove one in 1994, and knew a couple of owners, and I just don't remember them. I stand corrected on that. I'm assuming by HD you mean heavy duty.
  18. Perfect! I've been looking for that one for a while. Thanks!
  19. All it needs is a whoooo whoooo or two. Of course, when my radio starts playing country, I take it in to be fixed.
  20. Was at the Ollie's in Jessup, MD. They had a few 1994 Camaro convertibles and 60 Corvettes. Still lots of Lindberg kits; picked up the Monitor/Merrimack diorama kit.
  21. The front suspension is too high. Can't Revell ever get it right? Just kidding. Nice car.
  22. Number one looks like a 67/68 Thunderbird.
  23. I think it looks like a VW. The low square wheelwells, lack of a grille, and round turn signals below the headlights scream VW to me. I don't think I've ever seen an American van with a front-mounted spare.
  24. On my older snap kit, I found some short screws about the same diameter as the axle and short enough to fit into the wheel back, and used those to replace the front metal axle. Of course, you'll have the screw heads to deal with, but a bit of paint will minimize them. Attach the wheels to the suspension before attaching the suspension to the body - I used glue on the suspension to body attachment to be on the safe side. I also removed the front fenders and both bumpers, which made a pretty decent looking rod.
