it is kind of neat, really different, but I'd trade it and get a normal white molded kit to paint. or put it back in the box and get another one to build the way you want.

Custom hood issue - Final solution
tubbs replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
well, first off, I would try to get the motor a little lower in the chassis and grind inside of the hood away to make it fit under the hood...maybe get a squattier carb under that air cleaner. doesn't look lie you need that much... or.... I would take it from the body lines in the hood and raise that whole area slightly to clear the air cleaner. kind of like a very big grand national hood bump. the lines are so cool and classic on those cars, if you get too wild or get carried away, you may detract from the build as a hole. hope this helped a little. I don't do too many customs. -
please delete this post. thank you

thanks Roger, do you think some of these things will be corrected down the road? I also heard that the rear drivers side body line rolls up with the wheel lip. hey, I guess it's still a 70 cuda! beats paying $200+ for one.

excellent, some movement on this. I see other builds going on, but I guess they do not want to post up twice.

great!! nice, realistic build. -
my main problem is that I start projects while looking up stuff for ongoing projects. my magazines and the net are NOT my friends. or when I look for parts, I find some that will go great on this one and another project is born. of course, I still have not gotten the new Merc woody or the hemi cuda, so count on the project pile to grow by 2 in the near future.

What makes us/you shelve a build ?
tubbs replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
my name is tubs and I am a projectohalic. why you ask.... well um.... its because mostly of research for kits that I am currently building. by doing the research I.... hmmmmm, anyways, as I am looking up info, I start wondering off said path and start seeing other cool things. "boy, this would look cool on this kit" so a go to my stash and kit that kit out ........ where was I,,, oh yea, and I start that kit cause I saw this cool picture while looking for stuff for the kit I am already building, and so on, and so on. or I find parts that will look great on another kit, dig that one out, and before i know it, I have 25 kits in various stages of completion..... oh, a squirrel...... I have projects that I have started 25 years ago. yes, I am the laughing stock of my model group. never bring in anything finished! -
I would have to check, but the 66 nova may drop in. you can back half it with the super bee/ road runner/ GTX chassis with minimal trimming. I have a 69 dart pro street project stuffed back in the box but I scratched the frame, I started with the pro stock firebird rear tubs . will get back to you. I know my buddy does one. he sells on ebay under Jerome's house of resin, I think that's what it is.

I goggle imaged it and nothing but 6 and 7 figure foreign cars came popping up. I think its above the norm... WAYYYYYYY ABOVE the norm.

scrap it, bag it and send it off to me!! looks KILLER! keep on chugging along, you have my interest.... now I have to look for a jungle Jim FC body.....

Buying multiple issues of the same kit
tubbs replied to ChrisPflug's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
well, I feel there are a couple of reasons to buy multiple kits. 1 is kit bashing, buying the kit strictly for the parts inside. I do 90% pro street cars, so I have duplicates of the p/s super bee, 67 chevelle, some of the pro stock drag kits. I will buy glue bombs and incomplete kits just to get certain parts from these kits. another reason is to build different versions of a certain car. take the new 70 cuda, you can build it as a hemi, 440+6, 340 even down to a 6 cylinder build, drag, pro street. I know myself I will want a hemi, 440+6 and a pro street version. so I need 3 kits.... plus a few more for whatever strikes my fancy later. just my 2 cents -
you are correct, funny there are no pictures of it "dirty". that's the cool factor of barn finds, maybe they consider it not being on the road for years a "barn find"? heck, mine hasn't seen street pavement in 15 or so. is mine one of these? I think we will hear more about this one.
-
it says it was parked for 40 years, and it looks like in a barn, to me, a true "barn find" is a car that has been sitting anywhere for a long period of time. "field find", "garage find" just doesn't have the same ring to it. I think it's a great story. I found my hemi car (yes, long gone now) in a warehouse. I think the term "barn find" is just that, a term.

I hear you, but that is my one crutch, love it, have 4 cans down by 9 AM. but them maybe 1 or 2 more the rest of the day. my knees are shot also but I will not admit it. I work out (yea, sounds funny) with my dog every morning. chase him around our 5 acres, don't like the cold though, that would help tremendously if I lived in a warmer weather climate year round. would help with my Psoriasis also. having that for 40+ years with the arthritis that goes with it really cuts down on the outdoor activity. thanks for the advice, any houses for sale on your street?

very nice and well organized. light colors too helps. still cant get over the media blaster on that table? I guess that's one way to supplement the 'ol model funds. should post up some of your work.

not much for the low rider cars, but this is just beautiful. nice choice of wire rims too. all around great job.

this s a great thread and kudos to all who have the power to stick to a diet or totally change your eating habits. I guess I am on the lucky side of things, so far. I am 54, weigh 225, could use to loose 20 or so lbs, get under the 200's. I was at 200 to 210 for the longest time, just in the last few years have I shot up over the 220's, I drink diet coke like it going out of style, I don't read any labels or count calories, all I do when I get in the 220's like I am now, is just push away from the table after 1 plate. I don't finish things like the wife asks and I have a light snack later on in the evening. that seems to keep everything in control. had my physical in December and all the numbers were the best they have been in a long time, and they are GOOD numbers. so far this has kept my weight gain under some kind of control. I really need to work on my cardio.... again, God Bless you all that have the power to stick to it and shed the weight. take it from the people who posted, if your at a comfortable weight, but see that scale climbing a little every day, do something about it now before it gets harder and you have to take drastic measures!!
