  1. Second last day of school for my son so I grabbed a gift card for Lowes yesterday. One of the teachers is out there every morning (no matter the weather) directing traffic as well as making sure the kids don't splattered as they walk across the drive lane as they don't look up from their phones. I rolled in this a.m. and put the window down handing him an envelope telling him I appreciate what he does and that it takes brass ones to this every day. I'm sure he wasn't expecting it. My late father did that at the elementary school (before the city built a new all-in-one school). He made it a couple years and very few even took the time to thank him. He had two conversations with the police that they asked him to not come back the following year. First one, traffic was backed up in the L shaped bend. Cops told him he needed to speed things up. Dad pointed out if the guard at the intersection at the far end of the drive stops traffic for every kid instead of having them wait ten seconds for another kid, there is no place for the cars TO go. Second was someone backed into a sign post bending. Cops were grumpy that he didn't see who hit it. Dad told them it was more important that the kids running across the road then a replaceable post.
  2. Just a quick thank you to everyone who commented on Turner's passing. The emergency vet sent a sympathy card with two paw prints which really turned the water works back on. Wife picked up him remains and the place that did his cremation made a plaster print of his paw. I can't foster as once you are in THIS house, you are here to stay! Since the rescue we adopted him from is no longer in operation, I doubled the donation to the shelter in KY he was rescued from. I'm working on finding a rescue or rural shelter that can use the rest of his seizure meds.
  3. Lost one of my foursome this a.m. Turner (Jack Russell/sheltie mix) had been having seizures for months but the Keppra has helped him greatly. 5a this morning he went into a seizure and every time he came out of it, as he tried to stand up he went into another one...and another. He probably had about a dozen by the time we got him to the emergency vet (two in the truck on the ten minute drive). It's never an easy decision even it's the right decision. As we walked in, another guy had driven 30 minutes bringing in Jack Russell having a seizure. He was having a hard time talking to the receptionist so I gave a bro-hug as I was in the same position. Farewell Turner.....see you at the Rainbow Bridge. There's others from my house who will welcome you!
  4. Rocco from the Naked Gun 33 1/3 movie.....
  5. In that case, don't ask for them to put a Cougar aside for you......
  6. I was looking at the Storm and then moved onto the pick ups. Didn't really need those but when the seller said $20 for all of them, they followed me home. I don't think the Beretta and the Storm have seen the light of day since the assembly line.
  7. Cincinnati Reds winning streak ended....at six hours! Their record is 4-23. Losing 100 games this season now WELL within reach
  8. https://www.yahoo.com/autos/why-harry-gants-1991-skoal-114400276.html But they are okay with alcohol, firearms and sports betting sponsoring?
  9. Here's the one that had my undivided attention......70 Javelin. It has the street interior and home made plates over the headlights/tail lights. Need to find a stock dash as I want to turn this back into the street version. Not really a Ford guy but as I obsessed about the Javelin for the week long action, some of the other builds came into view. All are complete, just dusty (the ones photographed from behind was due to being tired of trying to get the front end to stay on for a quick pic). I was hoping the 67 Galaxie convertible was in decent shape. Complete and the windshield posts are in tact.
  10. Our street is on a perpetual widening project and they've progressed to the new curbs/aprons on the other side of the street. Our new neighbor ordered furniture and the company doing the work asked that any major delivery be made on Saturday or Sunday...which she did. Truck shows up today and parks out front but the road is narrowed by the road work so the traffic had difficulty getting through. As traffic backed up, the landscaping truck (just a regular truck w/ no trailer) I presume called the cops are Chief Wiggum showed up.....didn't get out of the car but felt the need to chew the furniture guys as well as the neighbor for doing what she was asked to do. My teenager was peaking out the front door window. Me...nope....grabbed a snack and drink before going out on the porch to watch this comedy of errors. The cop had another neighbor move their vehicles and the furniture truck parked on the other side of the street.
  11. From an online auction, the pics of the lot were close to being satellite imagery but this one caught my eye (there was another one that did moreso, but still unpacking all of them and matching the bucket of parts together with the cars....will post another time). I've not been able to find this from various on-line searches.......(found the hood for it!)
  12. I ask them if its on the specific toy from the adult shop from the movie Naked Gun 2 1/2 that the clerk tells Leslie Nielsen they got in for him. They usually hang up at that point.
  13. First C&C of the year is usually the biggest but Mother Nature felt like throwing in one more late season sleet & ice. Event moved into the parking garage. Tron Corvette (second pic with a flash) 1979 Mitsubishi Colt (58k original miles)
  14. Yep! Mom never smoked, drank, drugs, stayed active and worked up to the day of her stroke....long trips for her were anything over 20 miles one way......died at 70 of a stroke from not taking her blood pressure meds Dad ate like the cockroach, smoked a pipe, never exercised and stopped taking his blood pressure meds after mom passed.....made it eight more years to the age of 80 and died of Dementia. I'm mid 50's and buried several friends and classmates. I'm fat and happy. BP under control and bad cholesterol is only marginally high
  15. Breakfast for dinner......Lucky Charm pancakes smothered in Fruity Pebbles syrup.
  16. Reach out to management office at a nearby mall. Tenant's leave stuff behind that needs a home. I used to work for the company that bought a mall in Ashland KY. They recently sold it to a developer and donated all the fixtures to a charitable company that will sell it. (Search Kyova Mall) Check smaller thrift stores. One near me gets cabinets all the time and they put them on the sidewalk in front of the store for a few bucks as they don't have the floor space to keep them inside.
  17. 92 Mercury Topaz!!! Bought brand new and I was like Norm walking into the bar on Cheers when it came in for service frequently.....everyone knew my name. Before the warranty ran I out I sold it. I was making good $$ by the end of my time with that POS and the dealership told me to look at the Mustang. I said you can't fix this thing why would I spend more money with Ford? Several Mitsubishi's, couple Dodge's, a Pontiac and now Genesis...I've not been back.
  18. We had a neighbor that was known for inviting the entire family tree over a cookout every Sunday in the summer so it sounded like Chuck E Cheese frequently. I found that a great time to fire up the lawnmower, weed whack with precision along the fence, detail the car with the most annoying CD I could find, load the firepit with wet oak leaves (enough smoke to make it look like a plane went down), get the chain saw out to cut up the limbs that fell over the winter to firewood length.
  19. Monthly swap meet 1st pic.....parts kits. Bodies used for slot cars 2nd pic.....open complete. Paid too much for the started California Roller but hard to resist that molded color. Ram Van missing wheels but doesnt have the odd ball grill of the 911 van. 3rd pic....open complete. Not sure which direction to go on this one
  20. Wallet safe for another month...
  21. Ertl 1/18 Plymouth Superbird. No box and I cut the strap holding the doors shut before it damaged the paint

  23. Bear got her teeth cleaned today
  24. I think this is the Chinese knock off of the Tamiya kit
  25. 1936 Cadillac (Drivers side mirror came off, but I have it) 1956 Cadillac 2001 Cadillac (Already have this one but it was part of the lot)...missing hood ornament There were eight limo's in this series but I like the style of the older cars (need to find the 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan)
