For those who attended gsl. It's was mentioned Randy Derr took best in show 2023. Does that make him a 4 or 5 best in show winner. He won one with his 1/12th Cameron, a 1/25th scale Camaro, and his 1/12 th scale dirt car. And then this year's corvette. Are there any others. Who else has won multiple gsl best in shows.

See what you want to see when you live in a fantasy world full of delusions.

A number of years back there Gregg had created a separate page for buying and selling auction type page separate from this forum and the magazine. Unfortunately no one wanted to use it because there was not a lot on it. There was a call to post stuff but it didn't happen. Then the forum and magazine websites were hacked. Everything was down for a number of days. The buying and selling page was rebuilt but nobody wanted to use it and it went away.

Thanks To AMT For The New Technology Old Kits
bobthehobbyguy replied to oldcarfan's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Unfortunately I don't see this as economically feasible. My understanding is the tooling was designed for a very different injection molding machine that may or may not exist. What would be required is a complete clone of the kits to allow the kits to be run on newer injection molding machines. Unfortunately I just don't see the market being there to justify the cost. If you really want an old Johan kit you are going to pay some big bucks to get a rebuilder. -
Guinnevere should not be confused with Guinevere who was king Arthur's queen.

How about some table shots for those who couldn't make it. Please

Just some table shots would be cool.

I second the motion.

The cardboard version sounds like a great solution. Using it for a template is a great idea.

Long Live Model Cars Magazine!
bobthehobbyguy replied to ncbuckeye67's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
Thanks to the entire team for getting MCM back on track. Personally I think the mix of content is just right. To add more of any category would mean something else has to get less coverage. A better way would be to have more content on Patreon with a small subscription fee. Although it wouldn't be printed on paper it would be an easier solution to adding more pages and increasing the cost.u -
Video(VHS) tapes have been replaced by DVDs.

The tailgaters are the one that drive me the most nuts. Lots of narrow two lanes roads with limited visibility ahead and mostly 35 to 40 mph. An added attraction is a fairly large deer population, which I've had to make a a panic stop when they've come out from the brush on the side road. There's no way they are going to avoid rear ending me if I have to avoid something. It's gotten to the point I chain a bunch of errands together to avoid the gauntlet of stupidity they any drive has become these days.

Nicely done. Looks great.

1964 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible.
bobthehobbyguy replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nicely done. The weathering is perfect. Like the idea of a well used but well taken care of older vehicle rather than a factory fresh concourse restoration. Your version has much more character and visual appeal. -
Ray, You might send Brudda or Bill Geary(MrObsessive) a pm and ask them if they had issues with the chrome. I believe they both have built this kit
-
Is the issue with all the chrome? What about requesting a replacement?

Function must always considered over form.

Shaggy can often be your nickname depending how often you get a haircut.

Yup this sums it up exactly. Painting is a process. You can't cut corners and get consistent results. First you have to be meticulous in your prep work. Second lay down your paint as smooth as possible using the right materials. Third is the polishing process. Would it make sense to cut corners on the prep work and not clean the plastic and get fish eyes. Are leave mold lines, injector pins, and sink marks because it takes to long.
