  1. Well, it's not completely finished, but I am going to call Granny's Stealth Impala done for now. The idea was to take a Grandma-Gold-colored Bingo Cruiser Impala and go stealth mode. A turbo 3.8 V-6 and a lowered suspension would hopefully allow the crew the power to fly low to the ground. An LED bar is mounted on a police push bar for extra help in night running. A complete array of computers, satellite links and electronic counter surveillance equipment allow the guys to track conditions up ahead. For the last couple weeks I have been searching for some pretty important missing parts, i.e. the window glass, the roof rack with the antenna cluster, and the snack food bags and McDonald's sacks. I've checked everywhere. I'm pretty sure they crawled out of the box and snuck out of the house. I will keep looking and should they decide to show up I'll update, but for the moment I'm ready to move on.
  2. I actually [prefer this body style to the earlier ones. It's looking good!
  3. Where did you find this, in with the regular diecast? I've checked all the HLs in the area and didn't find them. It looks really nice!
  4. I used to build according to the subject rather that the scale, but my OCDish traits mean everything needs to be a common scale now, so 1/24th-1/25th is the only thing that interests me anymore.
  5. It looks like one of those cars stuntmen used to build for movies when the real thing was too expensive or hard to come by! Cool!
  6. Love this. As I get older, I find nostalgia has caused me to see the cars I once ignored with new eyes. Also, as those eyes get a little less sharp, my fingers get a little fatter, and my patience gets less I am growing to appreciate those simpler, fun to build kits.
  7. Looks good. Can you direct us to the price and ordering information?
  8. I've been noticing the trend in 1:1 cars and trucks to have traditional wheels, steelies with dog dish hubcaps, Magnum 500s, even Minilites and such in 18, 20 inch and other sizes. Does anyone make such a thing in 1/25th scale? I've been wanting to add some to kits, but haven't seen anything like that.
  9. I'd love to have a stock one in 1/25-1/24th!
  10. The manufacturers are trying to figure out ways to meet mileage requirements while still meeting customer expectations. Few people buy manual transmissions anymore and hardly anybody sees CVTs as an acceptable transmission so the answer is to add more gears to conventional automatics. When I was little, I remember my granddad wondering why anyone needed a four speed. He figured three was enough for anybody!
  11. I had an 82 F100 like that until recently. 300 CI six with three on the tree. Loved it!
  12. Thanks for the reminder. I don't by much from there, but I always use the sort option. There have been a few times when I found the perfect model at the perfect price only to see the seller had tacked on a $30-$40 dollar shipping charge.
  13. I really love that car and envy your skills!
  14. OOh, I might have to get one. I built the Revell one, but it got lost in a move.
  15. Any 1/24th? we have friends with a membership. I might try to tag along sometime.
  16. I want it!!!
  17. This is one of those rare kits that would have crossover appeal. Not only would model car builders want one, but also collectors of movie memorabilia would buy them as well. I would love to have one, either a reissue or a new kit. Even a simplified one as long as it looked good on the shelf.
  18. I would love top see that!
  19. I would love to have the new 1/24 Meng kits at 40% off! Also with the loss of the local hobby shops, I with HL would either start carrying Tamiya, Hasegawa etc, kits or start a special order program.
  20. I vaguely remember maybe 20 years ago that there were a couple of early 1971 Barracudas, Challengers made, but I haven't heard anything to back that up.
  21. So many questions. Is this the market now? Is the money and market not there for new releases? Has American modeling become a nostalgia scene that will dwindle as its supporters age out? I really hope not. In a lot of ways car modeling is mirroring the 1:1 car scene where customizing and accessorizing is just not as popular except for when a new Fat and Furry movie comes out. Most people see cars today as transportation pods rather than as a sign of their taste or status. How do the Japanese companies manage to produce kits based on current cars? I would love to know how sales of kits based on new cars sell as opposed to ones based on vintage cars. I don't think it's the price that hurts, though I would love to pay less, but adjusting for inflation, the prices aren't that much higher than they were in the 1960s. My feeling is that our hobby has become a niche market and the manufacturers are struggling to find a way to get by in that situation.
  22. I made glacial progress on my project, but any progress is progress, right? I've got the body ready and was stuck for a long time on an interior that would suit such a cross country endeavor. I finally found the radio equipment out of some old police car models and a couple of the laptops from the Expedition Police edition. I think that will give me what I need.
  23. Rob, I wish you every success in your new project. May it be an easy move and may the projects ahead of you lead to a happy home and a long and happy life in it! Hope to see you after the first of the year with pictures of your new home! Should you decide to build a man cave garage for your future builds, you might check out Garage Journal's forums on that subject! But anyway, may God bless you and keep you and your new home!
  24. Beautiful!
  25. There's quite a few that I want on this list!
