  1. Beautiful looking build. I enjoyed all of your efforts to detail the interior, a shame that it isn't more visible. The paint and the decals look nice and fit the theme.
  2. Excellent conversion on the body and the drive train as well. Thank you for the information on the subject as this helps to better understand what all you have created.
  3. Great looking color combination. I like the realistic look of the interior. Very cleanly detailed trim.
  4. I agree with Jantrix, this is exceptional. The whole propulsion thing is unknown to me, but it sure looks like it should work. The decision to go with the Matt finish looks like better idea and it still shows the body shapes well.
  5. Great looking finishes. I like the way you did the engine compartment.
  6. I like the looks of the dually rear. Did you have to widen the rear fenders to cover the tires?
  7. This is a great little kit and the extra detailing you're mentioning will go a long way. I built one to represent a basic floor pan and roll bar set up of one I owned years ago. The instructions in the kit suggest mounting the front brake drums is actually backwards. With a little study of the parts and the picture on the instructions you will pick that up easily. As for the body sides, your idea of a texture to represent the ruff fiber glass sound good. A friend of mine had one built for him around the '68 era. His had an option where they installed a flat panel that covered that area and had the same finish as the top of the body. While it gave his a more finished look but his was primarily a street driven rig and I doubt if it ever went off the pavement.
  8. Sounds like an interesting build. The general shape of the body, the longer roof and hatchback appearance, is something I'm not familiar with.
  9. Great looking interior. I like the window crank ideas. The engine is also looking good, except for something that may or may not make a difference to you. Starting in 1949 thru 1953 the Ford flathead had the Distributer moved from the front of the engine to the passenger side and had what could be called a conventional looking cap and wires. Now that's not to say someone could not retrofit any earlier setup and use the '49 or newer heads on the engine. Just didn't know what your intent is on the engine details. The exhaust is a niece addition compared to the lump that AMT provided when this kit was issued.
  10. Thanks. The color just looked interesting enough to want to use it on something I'm thinking of building.
  11. Beautiful looking color and finish. What paint did you use? The stance looks perfect, and the wheels and tires work well with this.
  12. Beautiful looking color combination. Great paint finish. I recently bought a can of this paint and wasn't sure just how dark it would be. Looking at your pictures it looks very nice over the silver base. Did you have any issues with coverage from the Pearl Blue?
  13. I like the weathering on the drive train. Gives a very realistic appearance. I also have been interested in this kit to build a 2wd version. I'll appreciate your insight on the body issues.
  14. Your build looks great. Glad to hear things have improved for you as well.
  15. Good looking start on a model of your friends Mustang. Like you we moved this last year and I also laid claim to a good part of the basement. I ducted the spray booth by splicing the exhaust into the exhaust fan from the downstairs bathroom. I use both the spray booth fan and the bathroom fan at the same time when I paint. Hardly any fumes doing this way.
  16. Beyond the sentimental value he is wise to have saved this car if nothing else for the unusual drive line. The 409 engine was dropped around the first of 1965 as I recall and was replaced by the 395 engine. The color was a one year deal and I don't think everyone appreciated it as much as they due now. Had I been looking at a '65 I would have wanted that color since it really looked great on these big cars in my mind.
  17. Beautiful looking paint finish and I like the color. Nice clean looking trim.
  18. Great looking State Trooper. I would hate to look in the rear-view mirror and see tyhis behind me.
  19. You captured the look of bare metal, and great detailing on the engine.
  20. Very realistic looking. As some shades of red oxidize, they can look almost pink.
  21. I have read the specs and seen a few pictures in Motor Trend and I agree this would work for most buyers. Also Ford as well as GM have offered this type of truck in many other markets for years so neither company id really breaking new ground, but with so many wanting this type of vehicle and the cost of the newer full size trucks it really makes sense to offer these here as well.
  22. GM had a problem at that time with cams going flat. They replaced the cam and one of the heads on my '68. You mention the 4 speed four door. In '65 I bought a new '66 Impala SS 396 4 speed. I had a customer that came into the station I worked at that also ordered a new '66 Impala four door hardtop as a family car. He ordered it with the same 396 and 4 speed that I had in the SS. A real sleeper.
  23. Most of those colors should alert you that you have some very serious health issues.
  24. I bought a new '74 C10 Chyanne Super short step side with the 454 and it was all in at 10 to 12 mpg. Didn't matter if it was up hill or downhill, that was the best it would do. Now if you wanted to get somewhere in a hurry it would sure do that.
  25. Great looking Diablo. I like your additions to the appearance and the engine. RJ's Construction must be doing well looking at the rolling stock you have built.
